Abstract

The study examined assessing the awareness and use of ICT tools among university students in Nigeria: Implications for digital literacy. ICT tools in the case of higher education denote a vast array of technological tools utilized in communication, creation, dissemination, storage, and management of information. The research design used was a descriptive survey research. The study population consisted of undergraduate students in the Nigerian universities. Currently, according to the National Universities Commission (NUC) data, more than 2.3 million undergraduates study at 43 federal universities, 48 state universities, and 79 private universities of the country. A sample population of 585 respondents was picked out of an estimated population of 656 qualified students who had undergone or had access to institutional ICT facilities in the chosen universities, or participated in ICT-related courses. The findings indicate that ICT use in communication, internet use, and social networking were highly used by students and academic ICT use was less prevalent (data analysis, reference management, and e-library access).  The results have wide implications on the development of digital-literacy in universities in Nigeria.  The study concluded that ICT awareness among the Nigerian university students is high, but not evenly distributed among the institutions. Most students are conversant with the general ICT tools yet they have inadequate skills on academic-specific technologies that are vital in academics interaction. It was recommended that ICT cannot be isolated to be taught in computer science departments but it must be mainstreamed to all courses. The course evaluation may incorporate the Internet-based elements, online portfolios or e-projects submission to promote active ICT use.

Abstract

This literature review examines gender and development policies within the aviation sector. This paper gives emphasis to the persistent disparities and evaluating policy frameworks that aim to promote equity and inclusion. With a systematic review framework, relevant peer-reviewed literature, industry reports, and policy documents to capture data regarding the workforce representation, organizational culture, and regulatory practices, data was synthesized. Findings suggest significant underrepresentation of women and these are particularly in technical and leadership roles which are driven by socio-cultural barriers, organizational biases, and policy implementation gaps. The findings imply that the underrepresentation of women in technical and leadership positions is a result of socio-cultural factors, organizational discrimination, and inadequate policy implementation. In contrast, high-level standards of governance and weaker shadowing frameworks, ICAO, IATA and UNWTO do all exhibit gender-friendly governance strategies. This paper brings to light the need for holistic approaches through which intervention policy, inclusive leadership, technology reform and governance participation can take root. Suggestions are made to establish strong evaluation systems, advance stakeholder cooperation and interplay, and furthering gender sensitive strategies in sustainability plans in order to build a balanced and flexible aviation workforce.

Abstract

Psychological well-being (PWB) is a complex, multi-dimensional concept that captures positive functioning and self-perception, life satisfaction beyond the absence of mental illness, emotional resilience and the capacity to cope with life's stressors but often overlooked when it comes to Police Officers as this Organization is an aspect of law enforcement, particularly in challenging contexts like Nigeria. It is against this backdrop that this study investigates the relationships between demographic factors, neuroticism, and extraversion as correlates of psychological well-being (PWB) among police officers in Lagos State, Nigeria. Utilizing a descriptive correlational research design, the study sampled 116 officers from five area commands using simple random sampling techniques. Data were collected using standardized instruments, including Ryff’s Brief Psychological Well-Being Scale (α = 0.86) and an adapted Neuroticism and Extraversion Scale (α = 0.72). Statistical analyses were conducted using t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation and multiple regression. The findings revealed no significant gender-based differences in PWB of Police Officers; t(114)= .1.392, p>0.05, significant age-related differences were observed among Police Officers’ PWB; F(2, 113) =3.76, p<0.05. Neuroticism and extraversion emerged as potent predictors of PWB, with neuroticism negatively associated and extraversion positively associated with mental health outcomes. The joint contributions of neuroticism and extraversion accounted for 34.7% of the variance in PWB, underscoring their critical roles in moderating stress and resilience in high-stress professions. The findings recommend among others that interventions to improve PWB should incorporate personality-focused strategies alongside broader systemic reforms. Also, fostering a supportive work environment and reducing stigma around mental health.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Intellectual Capital (IC) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on Firm Value with Financial Performance as a mediating variable. The focus on the financial sector is driven by intense competition and the need to enhance firm value through effective IC management and CSR implementation. Moreover, inconsistencies in previous research findings and issues related to CSR fund misuse further strengthen the urgency of this study. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) involving 15 articles obtained from Google Scholar. The findings indicate varied results: (1) IC and CSR are expected to positively affect Firm Value, yet some studies report negative or insignificant effects due to poor CSR governance or the market’s limited recognition of IC. (2) Financial Performance has been proven to positively influence Firm Value. (3) Financial Performance can mediate the effect of IC and CSR on Firm Value, although some studies show that the mediation does not occur. In conclusion, effective management of IC and proper implementation of CSR must be able to improve financial performance first to provide a strong and sustainable contribution to Firm Value.

Abstract

The digital transformation of immigration systems has introduced significant challenges to personal data protection, particularly from escalating cyber threats. Critical digital infrastructure, including SIMKIM, e-Visa, and autogate, handles sensitive data whose breach could severely compromise national security and individual privacy. This qualitative descriptive study analyzes Indonesia's immigration data protection policies and evaluates the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a strategic tool for cyber threat mitigation. Our findings, based on a comprehensive literature review, indicate that current legal frameworks are largely normative, lacking specific technical provisions for data protection within this sector. In contrast, AI technology shows immense promise for detecting system anomalies, enhancing audit capabilities, and preventing data breaches. Consequently, this study recommends implementing specific sectoral technical regulations, investing in digital human resource capacity, and deploying AI-driven systems to secure immigration data, thereby laying a foundation for a risk-based, adaptive digital security governance framework.

Abstract

Digital marketing has become a critical enabler of organizational transformation, requiring firms to adopt customer-centric strategies and optimize processes in increasingly complex environments. However, the conceptualization and measurement of digital marketing maturity remain inconsistent across the literature. This study addresses this gap by conducting a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of evolutionary digital marketing maturity models published between 2020 and 2024. Following a four-stage methodological framework—comprising selection and exclusion criteria, database search, quality assessment, and data extraction and synthesis—the review identifies similarities, differences, strengths, and limitations among existing models. The findings reveal that while current models provide useful structures for guiding digital transformation, they lack a precise conceptual definition and standardized measurement framework. The study contributes theoretically by advancing the operationalization of digital maturity and practically by offering executives a framework to assess, benchmark, and monitor progress in digital transformation. Furthermore, it establishes a foundation for future research on the relationship between digital maturity and corporate performance across cultural and regional contexts.

Abstract

Macroeconomic stability is a vital foundation for sustained economic growth; however, the mechanisms by which economic education influences aggregate stability have not been fully mapped. This study aims to examine the influence of economic education on macroeconomic stability, with financial literacy as a mediating variable and digital financial inclusion as a moderating variable. Employing a quantitative explanatory approach, data were collected from 400 respondents of productive age in Indonesia through structured online surveys (September-November 2025). Data analysis utilised Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Modelling with SmartPLS 4.0. Results demonstrate that economic education positively and significantly influences macroeconomic stability (β=0.215, p=0.001). Financial literacy was partially confirmed to mediate this relationship (β=0.340, p<0.001), functioning as a crucial transmission mechanism through risk management, savings, and policy channels. Furthermore, digital financial inclusion was found to moderate positively (β=0.185, p=0.004), strengthening the impact of financial literacy on economic stability; higher digital access accelerates the effectiveness of prudent financial decision-making. These findings extend Human Capital Theory by demonstrating that the impact of economic education transcends individual productivity to encompass the resilience of the national economic system. Practically, the research recommends integrating financial life-skills curricula and digital inclusion policies accompanied by educational verification to mitigate systemic risks, particularly in emerging markets such as Indonesia.

Abstract

Drinking water quality is one of the major significances affecting human health, lifestyle and economic well-being. Drinking water quality is solemnly dependent on the quality of source water, the treatment in water treatment plants before distributed, the water distribution system and the containers/tanks used for water storage and the household filters. This study evaluated the bacteriological, physicochemical, and heavy metal qualities of ten popular brands of sachet water commercially sold in Awka Metropolis, Anambra State, Nigeria. The aim was to assess their compliance with national and international drinking water standards and determine their potability. Standard microbiological techniques were employed to quantify microbial loads, isolate and identify bacteria, while atomic absorption spectrophotometry was used for heavy metal analysis. Physicochemical parameters were determined using standard American Public Health Association (APHA) methods. The results indicated that while the majority of the water brands were free from significant microbial contamination, two brands (FC and DS) tested positive for total coliforms, with brand FC also testing positive for faecal coliforms (E. coli), indicating faecal pollution. Bacterial isolates of public health concern included Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Enterobacter aerogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus faecalis, and Bacillus subtilis. Fungal counts were low but present in some samples. The physicochemical parameters (pH, turbidity, temperature, hardness, colour, and taste) for all samples were within the acceptable limits set by the WHO and NSDWQ. However, heavy metal analysis revealed alarmingly high levels of lead in one brand (FC), which exceeded the WHO permissible limit by over 12 times. The findings reveal that despite generally acceptable physicochemical qualities, some sachet water brands in Awka Metropolis pose potential health risks due to microbiological contamination and toxic heavy metals. The study recommends stricter regulatory monitoring, improved hygiene practices among producers, and public awareness to safeguard consumer health.
