There are symbols used by floating market traders to build social relations with visitors, namely using cold pupur, tanggui, colourful jukung, kakamban, negligee and brightly coloured clothes, tapih, baturai pantun and contracts in buying and selling. The denotation or original meaning of the use of cold pupur, tanggui, colourful jukung, kakamban, negligee and brightly coloured clothes, tapih, baturai pantun and buying and selling contracts was found. The connotation meaning is the use of cold pupur, tanggui, colourful jukung, kakamban, negligee and brightly coloured clothes, tapih, baturai pantun and buying and selling contracts. Abstract

Child marriage and divorce are phenomena that occur in many communities in Simpang Empat Sungai Baru Village. This research aims to examine what factors make children choose to marry and eventually divorce. This research uses qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. Data collection used observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses techniques from Miles and Huberman, namely the data reduction stage, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. This research shows that the factors that make children choose to marry are due to pregnancy outside of marriage, immature mindset, economy, and love traps. The tendency of early married couples' households not to last long is due to an immature mindset. The decision to divorce is driven by several factors, such as infidelity, family interference, domestic violence, and exhausted love. AGIL theory states that there are four functions in society so that community life runs stably, namely Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration, Latency. Child marriage households in Simpang Empat Sungai Baru Village cannot fulfil the components, only Adaptation because they can adjust the environment. Goal Attainment, Integration, and Latency are not fulfilled because they cannot maintain the marriage and then divorce and also lose trust. Based on the negative impact caused by anum marriage, it is better if the case of anum marriage gets more handling from related parties so that similar cases do not recur.

Abstract

The existence of public perception about the news of the nickname “widow village” in Banjarbaru City, apparently caused pros and cons in the community. This research aims to find out the social construction in online media towards “widow village”. The type of research is descriptive qualitative using a constructivism paradigm approach. Data collection used observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis used Robert N. Entman's framing analysis model. The theories used are social construction of mass media and critical discourse analysis. The results of this study show that in the news search column delivered by online media such as Tribunnews.com, there is a regular distribution of news, varied titles and erratic release dates. After further investigation, there are only two news contents that are slightly different in the Tribunnews.com media. Meanwhile, the results of fieldwork in the dialectical process of social construction are shown in three simultaneous processes, namely internalization, objectivation, and externalization. Internalization shows how the outside community reflects the “widow village” from interactions and actions. Objectivation shows how people begin to understand what is constructed. Externalization shows how people show their views or attitudes when they have been constructed on the news of “widow village” at some time later. The conclusion that can be drawn is that some of the elements highlighted from the media's perspective are considered not only gender bias but also morality issues, such as one of the widowed female informants who is still angry and difficult to return to talking about the topic. It is important, as much as possible, to sort out which news is good and true with false or lies, don't just focus on images and news content and easily demean fellow beings, whether women or men.

Abstract

Students use Instagram as the main stage to represent themselves, build identity, and interact with followers through visual features. This study aims to explore how students present themselves on Instagram social media. The approach used is descriptive qualitative, adopting Erving Goffman's dramaturgy theory. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique follows the steps of Miles and Huberman, with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results revealed that students build their image as motivators on Instagram through two approaches, namely verbal and non-verbal. Verbal motivators include the use of words, such as quotes from scripture, figures, or personal expressions. Meanwhile, non-verbal motivators are related to expressions and body language that express motivation without using words. Dramaturgical analysis identifies that the front stage is where students play a social role in front of the public, trying to maintain a positive image. While the back stage is used to hide information that may be undesirable. Students use impression management techniques in their content to shape the desired image to be accepted by others. This research provides an in-depth insight into the strategies and techniques used by university students in building an image as a motivator in cyberspace, focusing on verbal and non-verbal communication through the Instagram platform. The findings stimulate further understanding of how individuals use social media to represent themselves and build identity in the context of Goffman's dramaturgy.

Abstract

The negative stigma that circulates makes people still view widow status with a negative view, even the status is sometimes considered a disgrace. This study aims to describe the society's view of women who have widow status. The theory used in this research is labelling theory. The research approach used is descriptive qualitative, with the type of field research. Semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and content analysis were the data collection techniques used. The research was conducted in Jelapat I Village, Tamban sub-district, Barito Kuala Regency. The data analysis technique went through the stages of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results show that the majority of people in Jelapat I Village have a positive view of widows. The stigma and negative labels that are always attached to widows do not make the community necessarily view widows with a negative view. Widows are given the freedom to do anything in their daily lives without feeling alienated. The community agrees that as long as widows do not engage in deviant behaviour and violate established norms, their status in society is the same. Even so, there is still a small part of the community that views widows negatively. These community members still believe that widows are seducers of their husbands. It can be concluded that the majority of people in Desa Jelapat I already have an open mind and do not discriminate against women just because of their status as widows.  It is hoped that communities in other areas that still hold negative stigmas can follow the example of the people of Jelapat I Village who do not necessarily negatively label widows.
