Multidisciplinary journal on Islamic Studies, Civilization and Learning Societies. This journal is a 2nd generation publication published by IDRIS Darulfunun Institute (published before under the same name in the 1920s). The ultimate objective of this journal is to disseminate knowledge in Islamic studies, civilization (history and literature) and learning societies (education and science). This journal also aims to strengthen the theoretical base for supporting policy and initiatives. Articles accepted need to be based on rigorous sound theory and contain an essential novel scientific contribution. (Bahasa or English)

<![CDATA[The development of schools, universities and other social communities followed the dynamic progress of Islam. This development has provided patterns and variations of religious perspectives. Tarjih, as a process of understanding religious texts that have strong references to the Al-Quran and as-Sunnah is also understood by Muhammadiyah as a process of renewal (tajdid) or improvement (islah). Developments in culture and language that have changed over time have made some religious perspectives challenging to understand. The progress of time and technology has provided a new dimension to the misinterpretation of religious views regarding halal and haram in the name of modernization. Diversity and misinterpretation are also very much related to our understanding of bid'ah and khilafiyah. Khilafiyah is a diversity of perspectives that is not bid'ah. Tarjih and tajdid are dynamic and will always reject bid'ah and superstition because they are not based on the al-Quran and as-Sunnah. This article intends to discuss this matter.]]>

Muhammadiyah menyadari perlunya melengkapi manhaj (metodologi) pemikiran Islam di Muhammadiyah, di sisi lain, hal ini dipandang sebagai kebutuhan seiring dengan intensitas dan ruang lingkup berbagai perkembangan kehidupan. Pemikiran Islam mencakup segala sesuatu yang berkaitan dengan kebutuhan praktis kehidupan beragama, pembahasan moralitas publik, serta reaksi dan antisipasi wacana Islam terhadap perkembangan kehidupan manusia. Bagaimana Studi Islam dapat dipraktikkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Karena praktiknya terkait dengan konteks ruang, waktu dan tempat. <![CDATA[COVID-19 as a pandemic was both disturbing and shocking. While people were so confused and lost direction on how to deal with it, they also panicked and tried every way to make themselves and their relatives safe. People develop procedures that require advanced equipment to support those high-cost and complex procedures. People prioritize cleanliness in order to maintain a safe environment. Elaborating tafseer Al-Maidah verse 6 can be a constructive alternative to maintaining cleanliness. The cleanliness standard procedure in Islam was simplified, but it maintained obedience's deep meaning. Ablution (wudu) is the main procedure with preconditions and also offers alternatives for specific conditions. Water and dry sand (clean earth) are hygiene agents for cleanliness procedures and purification.]]>

Peranan Sumatera Thawalib dalam pembaharuan Islam secara komprehensif telah memberikan satu terobosan besar dalam penyelesaikan isu-isu sosial politik, ekonomi serta kemasyarakatan. Peranan Sumatera Thawalib yang cukup signifikan lahir dari peran utamanya dalam sektor pendidikan. Bahkan lebih jauh lagi, Sumatera Thawalib telah memberikan satu khazanah ide pembaharuan Islam yang bersandar pada gerakan pemurnian yang juga memberikan ruang yang lebar bagi terbukanya pintu-pintu ijtihad yang konstruktif yang berkesan pada peradapan sosial kemasyarakatan. <![CDATA[The sharp polarization caused by the general election in Indonesia has created a new phenomenon of intolerance which breaks unity and oneness. This polarization is also increasingly sharpened by the existence of elements that take advantage of this polarization for the interests of groups and classes, thus creating a climate of identity politics that is extreme left or right. Efforts to reduce this polarization need to be continuously developed. The development of religious moderation is an important step in addressing identity politics. Each party exists with various identities, both ethnicity, race and religion. Religious moderation plays a role in creating a conducive situation for each religion to grow and develop as one of the basic rights guaranteed by law. The author criticizes as well as provides suggestions from the results of a qualitative analysis of the literature on efforts to develop religious moderation. With the development of religious moderation, it is hoped that the polarization caused by identity politics will not become too extreme and disrupt the life of the nation and state.]]>

<![CDATA[The development of one's understanding will be very relevant to efforts to make improvements and changes. Worldview Islam means that Muslims use their religious understanding in actualizing progressive and constructive religious moderation which can balance the effect of digital disruption. Digital disruption has brought about an era filled with challenges, crises and threats. On the other hand, it provides hope, a great opportunity for the dissemination of knowledge, especially in the context of Muslims as agents of moderation and drivers of civilization. This article contains how Muslims need to formulate ways and future agendas to develop an Islamic worldview by enriching the tarjih method to actualize progressive religious moderation in an era of digital disruption in every sector. Digital disruption should be able to provide added value from the actualization of modern Muslims who are still able to align it with the guidelines from the al-Quran and as-Sunnah. Digital disruption should be able to become a medium for increasing public literacy towards the universal ethical values ??offered by Islam.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study is to evaluate the extent of community involvement in the general elections of 2019-2024 using the perspective of fiqh siyasah. This study was conducted in Nagari Tiku Selatan, Agam Regency. The main objective of this research is to understand the factors influencing voter participation in the context of general elections and the extent to which the principles of fiqh siyasah play a role in this process. This research adopts a qualitative descriptive method as the primary data collection and analysis approach. Data were obtained through documents, observations, and interviews selected representatively from the community of Nagari Tiku Selatan. The results of the research indicate that there are contributing factors to the low level of participation in general elections in Nagari Tiku Selatan. These factors include economic aspects, employment situations, and the level of community awareness. On the other hand, this research also reveals the relevance of the principles of fiqh siyasah, particularly the principle of consultation or "shura," in the context of political participation in Islam. However, the passive attitudes and actions of the community in general elections are considered inconsistent with Islamic teachings that encourage participation in choosing leaders. This research provides valuable insights into community participation in general elections and emphasizes the importance of understanding the factors influencing political participation. The implications of this research can be used as a basis for designing more effective strategies to enhance community participation in future election processes.]]>

<![CDATA[One of the hallmarks of the indigenous custom of luhak Limo Puluh Kota in West Sumatra, Indonesia, is the rompak page custom. This custom involves the marriage of a couple who comes from a different area or far from the bride's nagari location. The groom by custom must deliver to the woman's family some money or gold as a sign of respect and recognition for the bride. The purpose of this study is to gain an understanding of the view of al-'adah muhakkamah (objective law) regarding the rompak page tradition in the context of the life of the indigenous community in luhak Limo Puluh Koto. This principle of Islamic law states that if a custom or action does not conflict with Islamic law and is considered clear and valid, then this custom may be preserved. In this study, researchers analyzed the views of Islamic scholars and scholars regarding the rompak page tradition in the context of al-'adah muhakkamah. In this analysis, we examined whether the rompak page tradition is following Islamic teachings or whether there are aspects that need to be adapted to the principles of Islamic law. This study has relevance and significance in understanding the suitability of the rompak page tradition with Islamic teachings in luhak Lima Puluh Kota.]]>
