Abstract

This research discusses the post-colonial movement of Kiah Sholeh Darat in fighting the Dutch colonial decolonization and imperialization at the end of the 19-20 centuries. Why is this research interesting to discuss? The resistance movement that is known by the general public only focuses on physical resistance. Meanwhile, Kiai Sholeh resisted through a cultural approach. Methodologically, this research is included in the Library research category with the aim of producing historical research studies based on postcolonial movements carried out by Kiai Sholeh Darat. From this it can be seen that the cultural movements of Kiai Sholeh Darat in the aftermath of the Java War in the 19th and early 20th centuries in Java can be seen as a post-colonial spirit and identity, because they show a tendency towards the spirit of decolonization towards the era of colonial regime domination in various lines of life of the Javanese people. The cultural movement of Kiai Sholeh Darat, which reflects the identity of the post-colonial movement, gave birth to a literacy movement which was manifested in publishing writings in the pegon script, also translating the Koran into Javanese as a form of resistance to the colonial project which attempted to present Java with Islam through the literacy movement and colonial philology; and carrying out the cadre of kiai who have a religious and nationalist spirit as well as conducting public education, in the form of da'wah from village to village or from city to city in Java.

Abstract

Sufism is one of the sciences in Islam that focuses more on the spiritual realm. Therefore, many Islamic communities study Sufism to improve their spiritual quality. One of the references that can be used to study Sufism is the Book Marăqil 'Ubūdyah. The purpose of this study is to explain Shaykh Nawawi al-Jawi's tasawuf thoughts in the book marăqil 'ubūdiyah. This type of research is library research. The uniqueness of his tasawuf thought is related to three fundamental things, namely: first, a salik when he first enters the world of tasawuf he must strengthen his shari'ah teachings, because according to sheikh Nawai shari'a are some of God's laws ordered by the Messenger to mankind originating from God in the form of obligatory laws, sunnah, haram, makruh and mubah; second, sălik. carry out various obligations, traditions, leave various prohibitions, stay away from excessive things that are permissible, carry out caution such as: wara', riyadhah in the form of literacy, hunger and silence; third, understanding the nature of everything, such as witnessing Allah's asthma' (names), Allah's attributes, witnessing the Essence and secrets of the Qur'an, the secrets of prohibition, permissibility, and some unseen knowledge that cannot be obtained from a person. teacher, but the knowledge is understood from God. In the end, it is hoped that this article can provide readers with a deeper understanding of Syekh Nawawi sl-Jawi's taswuf thoughts which combine sharia, tarekat and essence. Syeikh Nawawi pattern of Sufism is belonging to Sunni

Abstract

Harald Motzki initiated a theory of hadith analysis called Isnad Cum Matn analysis to counter hadith criticism by orientalist groups who are skeptical of hadith. They assume that all hadiths are fake, and also assume that common links are hadith forgers. This study aims to analyze the hadith authentication method initiated by Harald Motzki. Sources of research come from the work of Motzki, books and other articles that review this theory. The results of this literature study are: 1) Moztki rejects the opinion of Gholdziher, Schacht and Juynboll who state that hadith is inauthentic; 2) A common link does not mean a forger of hadith; 3) According to Motzki, to assess the authenticity of a hadith, one must study both sanad and matn (isnad cum matn analysis); 4) This method was applied by Kamaruddin Amin to the hadith of shaum by comparing historical variants and paying attention to the characteristics of the hadith editorial staff, which finally led to the conclusion that the hadith of shaum had been spread starting in the first half of the Hijri century; 5) Motzki's critique of skeptical orientalists points to the emergence of hadith and their assumption of common link and single strand, that hadith has been the basis of law since the first century of hijriah, then common link is considered as a collector of hadith, while single strand is the most trusted path.

Abstract

Poverty is an essential issue for Muhammadiyah as a socio-religious and social organization in Indonesia. Poverty is caused by ignorance and underdevelopment and has occurred from the past to the present. To solve this problem, Muhammadiyah through Lazismu takes social action based on hadith. Muhammadiyah revives and implements hadith in the form of genuine assistance. This paper aimed to address the problem of poverty through Lazismu based on the hadith of social action. This research used qualitative scientific methods based on field research through observation, interviews, and library research. The results of this study indicated that the social activities carried out by Lazismu are a manifestation of tajdid/renewal and efforts to revive hadiths. The Lazismu assistance program includes direct assistance to the poor, natural disaster relief, educational issues, and the economy. Lazismu has a major influence on the welfare of the Indonesian people, especially the poor and underdeveloped and those affected by disasters. Poor and unemployed people receive productive alms assistance from Lazismu to facilitate their innovation and creativity in creating business opportunities that are able to develop and be sustainable.

Abstract

Iftirāq al-ummah hadith in the contemporary era is considered a problematic hadith both at the level of understanding and practice. The meaning of the hadith is considered to be contrary to the Qur'an and other hadiths which uphold the spirit of unity and brotherhood. At the practical level, this hadith is considered to be a trigger for division and conflict among Muslims. This study aims to map contemporary scholars' understanding models of iftirāq al-ummah hadith. To track this understanding model, the main questions are: 1) what is the model for the tendency of contemporary scholars to understand the hadith, 2) what is the impact of each model of understanding on the scientific world of hadith and also the praxis of people's lives, and 3) how to construct arguments built. This research is a narrative-historical approach, as well as content analysis that combines descriptive, critical and hermeneutical analysis, this study shows that the understanding of contemporary scholars of the iftirāq al-ummah hadith can be grouped into three models, namely 1) exclusive understanding model; 2) rejective understanding model; 3) inclusive understanding model; 4) introspective understanding model. The first understanding tends to cause conflict among Muslims, while the other three are criticisms of the first model. Each understanding put forward coherent arguments and pragmatic arguments to strengthen his opinion.

Abstract

The exegetical approaches that Muhammad Abduh and Fazlur Rahman used to study the Qur’ān are thisstudy’s main focus of discussion. The research is essential to enrich the literature of contemporary Islamicstudies by contesting the two scholars’ interpretation approaches. This article will answer whether or not thecontextualized interpretation model is still relevant today by comparing and contrasting Abduh andRahman’s respective interpretive approaches and providing examples of the verses mentioned. Hence, thisstudy is a qualitative-library research, whereas data processing relies on content analysis and comparativemethods. Nevertheless, reading Abduh and Rahman’s ideas within contemporary situations is still necessarybecause of its rational-contextual interpretation compatible with modern society and needs. This studysignificantly contributes to contemporary Islamic studies by offering new perspectives on the relevance andapplication of contextualized interpretive models in the modern era.
