Abstract

Hypotension in the elderly is a common condition and requires special attention in health management. This community service program aims to improve patient understanding of hypotension management through education and practical training. The methods used include socialization, interactive counseling, and evaluation of patient understanding before and after education. The results showed an increase in patient understanding from 55% before education to 85% after education. In addition, there was a decrease in complaints of dizziness from 80% to 40% after the intervention. These findings indicate that health education plays an important role in increasing patient awareness and readiness in managing hypotension. This program is recommended to be implemented widely to improve the quality of life of elderly patients.

Abstract

This community service aims to improve patient knowledge after spinal anesthesia through structured counseling activities. Spinal anesthesia often causes anxiety and is dangerous for patients, especially related to side effects and the recovery process. Lack of understanding can lead to non-compliance with medical injuries, which has the potential to prolong the recovery period and increase risk complications. Therefore, counseling is carried out by providing direct education to patients and families using educational media such as leaflets and interactive discussions. This approach not only helps improve patient understanding of spinal anesthesia procedures but also plays a role in reducing anxiety and increasing compliance with postoperative care. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the level of patient knowledge, which has an impact on a better recovery experience. Thus, this counseling program contributes to improving the quality of health services and patient satisfaction at PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta Hospital, as well as being a model of educational intervention that can be applied in various other health facilities.

Abstract

This community service study documents and analyzes a blood glucose screening program conducted by theology students of STT Kadesi–Bogor at the Pentecostal Church (Gereja Pantekosta Jakarta/GPJ) in West Jakarta from February to April 2026. A total of 80 examinations were performed over three consecutive months using the Accu-Check glucometer. Results revealed that 1 participant (1.25%) was classified as diabetic (random blood glucose/RBG ≥200 mg/dL) and 19 participants (23.75%) were classified as pre-diabetic or at elevated risk (RBG 126–199 mg/dL), bringing the total at-risk proportion to 25%. The mean participant age was 52.7 years (range: 21–82 years). Women constituted 78.75% of all participants and accounted for 70% of at-risk cases, while men showed a proportionally higher per-capita risk rate (35.3% vs. 22.2%). Five female participants recorded borderline-low glucose levels (70–75 mg/dL), indicating potential nutritional inadequacy. This study contextualizes its findings within biblical theology—particularly 1 Corinthians 3:16, which declares the human body to be the temple of the Holy Spirit—providing a theological imperative for holistic health stewardship. Practical recommendations include adoption of a balanced diet, engagement in regular physical activity, and periodic blood glucose monitoring as expressions of faithful bodily stewardship.

Abstract

This community service study investigates a marketing training program implemented by theology students of STT Kadesi Bogor at the GPIA Sidoasri congregation in Sumbermanjing Wetan District, Malang Regency, East Java. The program targeted eighteen women members of the congregation to improve their economic capacity through the marketing of low-cost everyday clothing via three channels: door-to-door sales, a small storefront at the church, and online commerce through TikTok. The study applied a pre- test/post-test design evaluated using the Normalized Gain (N-Gain) method to measure changes in knowledge and skill across five indicators: marketing knowledge, selling skills, online media usage, basic financial recording, and entrepreneurial motivation. Results indicated a moderate-to-high N-Gain across all measured indicators, with an average N-Gain score of 0.656 (moderate category), and the highest individual gain in entrepreneurial motivation (0.76, high category). Sales data over the three-month period (January–March 2025) recorded a total profit of Rp1,967,500 across 345 garments sold, representing an income supplement of approximately 27–35% relative to participants' baseline household income for the most active participants. A marked sales decline in February and March was attributed to seasonal demand shifts ahead of Eid al-Fitr, as consumers redirected purchases toward formal Muslim attire. The program demonstrated that congregation-based economic empowerment rooted in a biblical theology of work, stewardship, and the dignity of labor can yield measurable and holistic socioeconomic outcomes for Christian women in rural communities.

Abstract

This community service program was conducted at GPIA Sidoasri, Malang Regency, a church community located in a rural area with limited access to capital, technology, and market opportunities. To improve the economic welfare of its members, the church initiated a micro-enterprise producing banana chips and jackfruit chips. However, the business faced several challenges, including unattractive product packaging, a short shelf life due to the absence of preservatives, and difficulties in determining competitive and profitable selling prices. To address these issues, the service team provided training on marketing strategies and business capital management. The training covered product branding through attractive packaging, the use of digital promotion to expand market reach, the separation of personal and business finances, simple financial record-keeping, and responsible capital management practices. The program was implemented through lectures, interactive discussions, and participant mentoring. The results showed that participants gained a better understanding of marketing strategies and basic financial management. Although challenges such as limited capital and low digital literacy remained, participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the program. This activity highlights that the success of micro-enterprises depends not only on product quality but also on effective marketing strategies and sound capital management. Furthermore, the program reinforces the importance of careful planning and responsible stewardship in business, as reflected in the wisdom of Proverbs 21:5.

Abstract

Elderly people are a vulnerable group experiencing declining body functions and an increased risk of degenerative diseases, requiring promotive and preventive efforts to maintain their health. One alternative is the utilization of kitchen spices as herbal drinks because they contain various bioactive compounds that are beneficial for health. However, knowledge among the elderly regarding the benefits and processing methods of herbal ingredients is still limited. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of elderly participants in utilizing kitchen spices as herbal drinks at LKS Payung Besurek Bengkulu City. The method used a participatory approach through educational sessions, interactive discussions, and direct practice in preparing herbal drinks. The results showed high enthusiasm from participants during the activities. Around 85% of participants experienced increased understanding of the health benefits of kitchen spices. Participants were also able to independently prepare herbal drinks using easily available local ingredients. In addition, the activity generated positive social impacts, including improved interaction, increased awareness of healthy lifestyles, and greater independence in maintaining health through natural ingredients. Therefore, this education program is an effective community-based health empowerment strategy for the elderly.

Abstract

Science and language literacy remain challenges in non-formal education, as learning often emphasizes memorization and underutilizes local contexts as learning resources. This community service program aimed to strengthen the competence of Community Learning Center (PKBM) tutors in developing science and language literacy modules based on the ethnoscience and local wisdom of Klaten. The program employed a Training of Trainers (ToT) approach involving training sessions, module development workshops, and mentoring. Participants consisted of 20 tutors from three PKBM in Klaten Regency. Competence was evaluated through pretest and posttest questionnaires covering literacy understanding, pedagogical competence, module development, and learning implementation. Results indicated a 24,61%. increase in tutor competence, with the average score rising from 63,31 to 87,92. The program effectively enhanced tutors’ capacity to design contextual learning grounded in ethnoscience and local wisdom.
