Conference on Management, Business, Innovation, Education and Social Sciences (CoMBInES) Conducting a research is one of the implementations of Three Pillars of Higher Education that has a crucial role for the development of science, technology, and arts as well as for the improvement of the welfare of society since the research results are directly implemented to the society/community. To spread more significant effect; not only for the society/community but also for more external parties; therefore, Universitas Internasional Batam hold a Conference on Management, Business, Innovation, Education and Social Sciences (CoMBInES) that is attended by lecturers and students from both domestic and overseas partners to disseminate their research works. Through this conference, the researchers are able to share their knowledge and motivation in the application of sustainable research activities.

Abstract

The main objective of this study was to determine the trust towards attitude towards online purchasing, and the effect of perceived quality, perceived price, attitude towards online purchasing on consumers' desire to make online purchases in Batam city. Respondents in the study were 259 samples using the purposive sampling method and the data were processed using the Partial Least Square (PLS) program. The results showed that trust had a positive significant effect on attitude towards online purchasing, then perceived quality, perceived price and attitude towards online purchasing had a significant positive effect on purchase intention. The conclusion of this study shows that purchase intention is influenced by several variables, either directly or through mediating variables. This conclusion provides recommendations for company management to always consider the above variables in increasing consumer interest in making online purchases.

Abstract

Cancel culture has emerged and often appears on social media and has become a form of social phenomenon. Cancel culture itself has also emerged in Indonesia and is used as a form of protest and ostracism against public figures who commit social deviations on social media. As a country with a large number of digital natives, having an understanding of cancel culture can help us use social media wisely. Therefore, the author designed an infographic in the form of a motion graphic regarding the meaning of cancel culture. This is supported with the findings of the study by (Oktanizar & Kurniawan, 2021), which suggest that motion graphics can be an effective educational tool for promoting the shipping industry. Specifically, the study showed that the use of motion graphics in promoting the industry using the EPIC (Engagement, Persuasion, Information, and Call-to-Action) model resulted in increased awareness and interest in the shipping industry among the participants. This implies that the use of motion graphics in promoting complex topics such as cancel culture can be an effective strategy to engage and inform audiences. Furthermore, the EPIC model used in the study can serve as a useful framework for designing effective motion graphics for educational purposes. The author uses the ADDIE method and Adobe After Effects software in creating the motion graphic. The author then assesses the level of effectiveness in the media using the EPIC rate method. The results obtained from this study is that the motion graphic media uploaded on Youtube and are classified as effective.

Abstract

Korupsi merupakan sebuah extraordinary crime yang sudah lama menggerogoti Indonesia dalam seluruh lapisan, baik dalam pemerintahan maupun masyarakat sendiri. Tindak pidana korupsi masih mengakar dan banyak ditemukan di kalangan masyarakat Indonesia, baik dari tingkat pemerintahan, aparat penegak hukum, pelaku bisnis, hingga masyarakat. Salah satunya adalah kasus tindak pidana korupsi yang dilakukan oleh Longser Sihombing, seorang polisi yang ditugaskan di Kota Medan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk menganalisa efektivitas penegakan hukum dalam obyek penelitian dengan Teori Penegakan Hukum oleh Lawrence M Friedman sebagai tolak ukurnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masih ada ketidakefektifan penegakan hukum tidak pidana korupsi di Indonesia, khususnya dalam kasus Longser Sihombing

Abstract

Kampung Tua Tanjung Uma terletak di pesisir Kota Batam merupakan permukiman kumuh dengan bangunan-bangunan yang tidak layak huni, tingginya tingkat kepadatan bangunan, dan kualitas bangunan serta sarana dan prasarana yang tidak memenuhi syarat akan menjadi objek penelitian ini. Peneitian ini dilakukan dengan metode kualitatif deskriptif dan bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi permasalahan yang terjadi di objek penelitian terkait dengan sanitasi, kekuatan struktur, dan sirkulasi antar bangunan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem sanitasi di Kampung Tua Tanjung Uma tidak dirancang dengan baik dan belum memenuhi kriteria ideal. Penulis memberikan saran untuk memperbaiki perancangan sistem sanitasi dan struktur bangunan di Kampung Tua Tanjung Uma.

Abstract

Ever since the creation of world’s first video game named “Tennis for Two” by a physicist named William Higinbotham with a purpose of stimulate learning and interest in physic, a lot of researcher started to research the effectiveness of video game as an educational media. One of the research by Richard E. Mayer shown that Celeste Pilegard has already suggested the idea of video game as a homework material. But a lot of researcher said that they wanted an evidence of the effectiveness of video game as educational purposes. The research conducted by Richard E. Mayer said that video game can be used as educational purpose even surpass the conventional media. Python is an object-orientated programming language created by Guido van Rossum with a philosophy to make user able to read source code easier. This programming language is popular to the point a lot of companies uses Python to create an application for their own company, because of this a lot of beginners wanted to study this language but struggle because of the difficulty of finding a free learning media for this programming language. The purpose of this research is to make the basic knowledge of Python Programming Language become even more accessible to everyone and to show the capability of the author in computer science department, specifically in video game development. The author uses Unity, Paint.NET and Bolt Visual Scripting as the tool to develop the video game in this research. The end result of this research is a video game titled “The Room” that developed using Unity as game engine and Finite State Machine as the method.

Abstract

Human resource is one of the key determinants for development in terms of social, economic, political, and even technological. Despite the efforts Malaysia has made to narrow down gender inequality and to promote women’s economic inclusion, the participation rate of women in the labour market remains low. Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression were employed in this study for analysis purposes. Variables involved are the fertility rate, age dependency ratio, economic growth, women's education, and female labour participation rate in the context of Malaysia. The empirical study uses time-series data from 1982 to 2019. The empirical result of this paper concludes that all the selected explanatory variables have a substantial influence on female labour participation. Age dependency rate has a significant negative relationship, otherwise positive. The result of this paper has significant implications that would have the potential to address the issues faced by the female workforce

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa pengaruh etika akuntan yaitu integritas, objektivitas, kompetensi, kerahasiaan, dan perilaku profesional terhadap kualitas laporan keuangan. Studi ini mengambil sampel dari dosen universitas, akuntan yang bekerja pada kantor konsultan seperti kantor akuntan publik, badan pemeriksaaan keuangan, dan kantor jasa akuntan yang terdapat di Kota Batam. Hasil yang didapatkan dari studi adalah integritas, objektivitas, kompetensi, dan kerahasiaan berpengaruh signifikan positif terhadap kualitas laporan keuangan. Penelitian ini memberikan pemahaman baru tentang bagaimana pentingnya etika seorang akuntan dalam menghasilkan sebuah laporan keuangan berkualitas.

Abstract

Technology has been advantages in these recent years, they are easy to use and fast, especially when it comes for media like video games. Digital geography is now a major and very widespread interest. In human geography, there are two main theoretical approaches to video games. The first has considered the representational strategies and politics of video games: how video games depict the world, and the ethics of that depiction, the second is looking at the representational approach as a poor place to capture the contingencies of the digital world, and the embodied interactions between games and gamers. Based on discussion that has been discussed, we will design and develop a cinematic video, the design is that we will make a cinematic video using background music from a video game called "Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time", the applications used to make the video are Adobe Premiere Pro CC and Adobe After Effects CC, we will combine several gameplay clips from other games and then the writer will combine them with some of game soundtracks from "Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time" which will resulting a cinematic video, and we also added a Japanese poetry called haiku for the video storyline, and when it is finished, we will upload the video result to YouTube.

Abstract

E-learning adalah pembelajaran yang dilakukan secara jarak jauh melalui jaringan media elektronik. Pada penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dampak penggunaan media pembelajaran online selama masa pandemi covid-19. Penelitian ini menggunakan model Delone and Mclean yang digunakan untuk mengukur kesuksesan dari sistem informasi dengan menganalisis 6 variabel diantaranya Kualitas Sistem, Kualitas Informasi, Penggunaan, Kepuasan Pengguna, Dampak Individual dan Dampak Organisasional. Penelitian ini membutuhkan data responden dari mahasiswa Universitas Internasional Batam dan diuji menggunakan aplikasi SPSS. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh bahwa dampak dari penggunaan media pembelajaran online bergantung dari kepuasan, kualitas dan kelengkapan fitur yang disediakan oleh media tersebut kepada pengguna.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pengambilan keputusan investasi saham pada investor generasi milenial di kota Batam yang dimoderasi oleh Locus of Control. Responden dalam penelitian tersebut sebanyak 261 investor generasi milenial yang disebar melalui kuesioner online dengan menggunakan metode pengambilan sampel yaitu convenience sampling dan data diolah dengan menggunakan program Partial Least Square (PLS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Herding, Financial Literacy, Price Anchoring dan Availability Bias berpengaruh signifikan positif terhadap Investment Decision Making. Representative Bias berpengaruh signifikan negatif terhadap Investment Decision Making. Sedangkan Overconfidence dan Loss Aversion berpengaruh tidak signifikan terhadap İnvestment Decision Making. Lebih lanjut, studi ini menunjukkan bahwa Locus of Control tidak terbukti memoderasi hubungan antara Representative Bias dan Availability Bias terhadap Investment Decision Making. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi bagi investor, perusahaan dan pembuat kebijakan dalam pengambilan keputusan terkait investasi saham.
