Abstract

The local church in the contemporary context faces various complex challenges, including limitations in human resources, highly specialized ministry programs, and increasingly diverse capacity-building needs. In response to these demands, parachurch organizations have developed to fill ministry gaps that cannot yet be optimally addressed by local churches. However, the presence of parachurch organizations often creates tension with local churches due to perceptions of competition and functional overlap that may potentially divide the unity of the body of Christ. This study aims to analyze the role of parachurch organizations in supporting the faith growth of local church congregations through a theological-ecclesiological approach. The research employs a qualitative methodology with a systematic literature review, involving analyses of systematic theology, ecclesiology literature, and case studies of church-parachurch collaborations across various denominations. The analysis is conducted using a Reformed theological framework and a holistic ecclesiological perspective. The findings indicate that parachurch organizations have a significant complementary role in the spiritual growth of congregations through three main functions: deep specialization in ministry, mobilization of cross-denominational resources, and innovation in faith development programs. An effective collaboration model can be achieved through the principle of subsidiarity, whereby parachurch organizations assume specific roles that cannot be optimally performed by the local church, while still honoring the pastoral authority and ecclesiological structure of the local church. This study contributes to the development of a practical ecclesiological model that integrates the role of parachurch organizations as strategic partners of the local church. Collaborations grounded in solid theological foundations can optimize the faith growth of congregations without compromising the unity and ecclesiological integrity of the local church.

Abstract

Learning guidance is a process or effort to provide assistance to students in solving learning problems they face, so that desired learning objectives can be achieved. Indonesian language learning guidance is implemented to train students' understanding and proficiency in using the Indonesian language. This study employs qualitative research using a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques in this research include observation, documentation, and interviews. Based on interview results with informants regarding students' Indonesian language abilities, the author concludes that students' Indonesian language proficiency remains inadequate because they tend to use regional languages and require learning guidance from teachers. After conducting the research, it was found that students' understanding of the Indonesian language is significantly lacking. Students only comprehend lessons when teachers deliver them using regional languages combined with some Indonesian. Therefore, teachers need to implement additional learning activities through Indonesian language learning guidance to help students achieve their desired learning objectives.

Abstract

This study examines the eschatological typology of Noah’s era in Luke 17:26–27 as a theological framework for the coming of the Son of Man through a biblical intertextual approach. The central issue is how Luke utilizes the flood narrative (Genesis 6–7) as a typological paradigm to depict the sudden nature of Christ’s second coming. This qualitative research employs a literature-based study using G.K. Beale’s intertextual exegesis model, which consists of nine systematic steps for analyzing the relationship between Old and New Testament texts. Hermeneutical and exegetical approaches are applied to interpret theological meaning by tracing textual allusions and rhetorical structures. The findings reveal that Luke constructs the typology of Noah’s era not to emphasize explicit wickedness, but rather to critique a lifestyle preoccupied with worldly activities and lacking eschatological awareness. The generation in Noah’s time engaged in eating, drinking, and marrying serves as a reflection of the spiritual condition of the end-time generation that lives in spiritual indifference. The intertextual analysis demonstrates a strong use of Septuagintal allusions, with adapted narrative structures from Genesis 6–7 to affirm the certainty of eschatological judgment. The study concludes that the typology of Noah’s era functions as a prophetic-pastoral warning, urging believers to live in eschatological vigilance, with Noah portrayed as a typological figure of the righteous who perseveres in faith. The theological implication highlights the importance of eschatological ethics, which demands spiritual awareness and faith readiness in facing the sudden coming of the Son of Man.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to emphasize the knowledge of God as articulated in Hosea 6:6. This verse serves as a key to understanding the relationship between God and His people, highlighting that knowing Him is far more valuable than religious rituals often performed without awareness or sincerity. According to Tjatur Raharso Yustinus et al. in "Pengenalan akan Allah," a deep understanding of God is fundamental for authentic faith, reflecting the loyalty of believers towards Him. Supriyadi in "Teologi Hosea" explains that the historical context of Hosea reveals Israel's entrapment in ritualism devoid of genuine connection with God, stressing that knowledge of God should transcend mere intellectual understanding and lead to a real spiritual experience. Widyastuti further asserts that a personal relationship with God enriches spiritual life and influences our interactions with others, urging that knowing God should inspire us to live in love and obedience, serving as witnesses of His love to others.

Abstract

In the modern era, many churches have developed worship systems that tend towards pragmatism, often at the expense of liturgical depth. While the diversity of liturgical forms should rightly be regarded as a strength within the Protestant tradition, attention must nonetheless be paid to how the Reformers preserved their theological convictions, particularly in relation to worship. Lutheran theology, in particular, exhibits a broadly conservative stance on liturgy, and its historical‑grammatical interpretation of biblical texts concerning worship remains pivotal in shaping a robust liturgical paradigm. Furthermore, the confessional heritage of the church has been meticulously conserved well into the contemporary period. Yet, scholarly engagement with the underlying theological framework of liturgy in ecclesial practice remains relatively scarce. This study therefore presents a theological perspective drawn from the Lutheran tradition on the nature and purpose of corporate worship. Employing a comprehensive literature review, it investigates both the biblical texts and the confessional documents of the church, demonstrating that liturgy is not merely a ceremonial sequence but a typology of the Christian life that is both missional and communal.

Abstract

The purpose of this Research is to uncover the theological message contained in the Book of Obadiah, the shortest book in the Old Testament, which highlights the sovereignty and justice of God. This study explores key themes such as the judgment of Edom’s sins, the restoration of God's chosen people, and the concept of the "Day of the LORD," which reflects the fulfillment of His salvation plan. Utilizing a literature review method, this research analyzes how God's sovereignty is evident in the orchestration of history and how His justice is manifested in the punishment of sin and the restoration of world order. Additionally, the study examines the theological relevance of the Book of Obadiah for contemporary life, including the call to live in obedience, humility, love for others, and hope for ultimate restoration. The findings of this research affirm that God is a just and faithful Judge who brings justice and hope amidst the uncertainties of human life.

Abstract

This research analyzes the theological meaning of the quotations from Isaiah 25:8 and Hosea 13:14 in 1 Corinthians 15:54-55, as well as the hermeneutical transformation undertaken by Paul to affirm Christ's victory over sin and death. The method employed is exegetical hermeneutics based on G.K. Beale's model with comparative intertextual analysis between Old Testament texts and their application in the New Testament context. The analysis reveals that Isaiah 25:8 proclaims the eschatological abolition of death within the context of Israel's restoration, while Hosea 13:14 articulates death's powerlessness in the face of God's sovereignty. Paul conducts a Christological reinterpretation by transforming both quotations into a declaration of soteriological victory, wherein Christ's resurrection is understood as an eschatological fulfillment that definitively defeats the power of sin and death. Christ's resurrection in Paul's perspective functions as an eschatological proclamation of victory that transforms the lives of believers. These findings confirm that Paul's hermeneutics transforms the theological meaning of Old Testament texts within a Christological framework to provide doctrinal foundation for the early Christian community.
