Abstract

Abstract

The increase in plastic waste demands acceleration of waste recycling technology. The purpose of this research is to make a prototype machine to process plastic waste into liquid fuel using the pyrolysis method called the Pluto (plastic to oil) engine. This machine can accommodate plastic waste with a maximum weight of about 3 Kg with a condensate tube that can accommodate a maximum volume of about 3 L of liquid fuel. Experimental results reveal that the heating process for 2 hours produces 250 mL of liquid fuel.

Abstract

Paser Regency is one of the regencies in East Kalimantan which is located in the southernmost part. This district has unique natural conditions and has the potential to become a tourist attraction. Geomorphologically, Paser Regency has various conditions from coastal areas to hilly and mountainous areas. Paser Regency also has geological conditions that vary from Pre-Tertiary to Quaternary age. The purpose of this study is to introduce to the public, both domestically and abroad, geotourism locations in Paser Regency and to examine its geotourism potential. Data was collected using descriptive methods, namely field observations including descriptions, recordings, and measurements to determine the geological and tourist conditions at the research site. Petrological analysis was carried out to determine the type and composition of rocks in detail and was carried out to provide information on the lithological characteristics as edu-geotourism materials at that location. The analysis produces a geotourism map that shows geotourism location information. Paser Regency has 9 locations that have the potential as geotourism objects, namely Lempesu Waterfall, Boga Mountain, Losan Cave, Tengkorak Cave, Loyang Cave, Rambutan Mountain Waterfall, Embung Muru, Doyam Seriam Waterfall, and Danum Layong Hot Spring. Increasing the location of geotourism needs to be done, both in infrastructure development and sustainable management, so that tourists can be comfortable in enjoying their visit.

Abstract

Knowledge of explosion thresholds is essential to ensure a safe area. Fire or explosion may occur spontaneously if conditions in the area exceed the limits. Low explosive limit (LEL) measurements for 31 days have been carried out at Korpri Housing, precisely at Jl. Wilis Mukti 1, RT. 26, Kelurahan Sepinggan, Kecamatan Balikpapan Selatan, Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan. Measurements were conducted using a multimeter gas detector (compound gas monitor WT8811) for 31 days at three points, namely the first point was located about 5 m from the gas source, the second point was located at the gas source, and the third point was located around 20-25 m from the gas source. The measurement results revealed that the highest LEL value was at the second point with an average value of 4.79% LEL. The highest measurement results occurred on April 6, 2021 with measurement results in the morning at 09.00 WITA 14.8% LEL, afternoon at 12.00 WITA 13.8% LEL, and at 15.00 WITA 11.6% LEL. The results revealed that at the second point has the highest potential for an explosion.

Abstract

Hydrocarbon exploration currently has a variety of methods in operation to determine and identify a reservoir according to the required parameters. Well log data plays an important role in the development of hydrocarbon exploration. Hydrocarbon saturation can be known by first calculating the water saturation, so the value of Sw is the key to work to determine the type of reservoir and its fluid content at an interval or reservoir zone accompanied by crossover and separation readings on the density & neutron log curve. The research was conducted in the Jambi Sub-basin area, ANONIM field, South Sumatra, DS-19, CS-21, RS-23 wells with shaly sand lithology which produces three productive zones. Based on the results, wells DS-19, CS-21, RS-23 has a gaseous hydrocarbon fluid with Sw value in the DS-19 well of 10.5%, CS-21 well of 27.1%, and RS-23 well of 22.4%.

Abstract

Modeling of exhaust emissions (SO2) from refinery chimneys was carried out using the Gaussian Plume model through Screen3 software. The results showed that there was an influence of wind speed and atmospheric stability on the variation in modeling results. The higher the wind speed and the more stable an atmosphere, the lower the resulting concentration value. Modeling on the worst case scenario, produces the largest possible concentration value that might occur somewhere. The distribution map of the model results is displayed following the dominant wind direction, namely to the South and North of the refinery. The difference in the magnitude of the distribution of concentration values is depicted in the color difference. The more stable the conditions of atmospheric stability, the farther the high concentration will be from the refinery. The overall value of the model results shows a concentration value that is below the quality standard value when based on PP No. 41 of 1999. Mitigation of risk management includes regular training by industry and the government regarding air emissions and ambient air at refineries; through policies to eliminate the risk of industrial accidents.

Abstract

Humans play an essential role in other living things, as well as the interests of the environment and nature as a whole. Environmental problems such as flash floods, landslides, droughts, and so on do not only occur in one region or one country, but these environmental problems have become a world problem globally. The human perspective and paradigm in viewing and positioning their environment have led to the current ecological crisis. This study aims to identify and examine environmental preservation efforts. Library research is used by collecting materials that discuss environmental issues and other related sources. The author concludes: humans are equipped with the intelligence to reason through reason, to be able to understand what is in the universe so that humans can manage the earth well to empower natural potential based on its phenomena through empowerment or exploration efforts that are beneficial in various aspects of life. The research results show that a paradigm shift is needed when humans relate to their environment. And, in the aspect of local wisdom, it has taught an environmental ethic, respecting each other and always maintaining ecological balance and harmony.
