Abstract

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) are actively working towards transforming transportation systems by implementing solutions that improve the quality and quantity of transportation and traffic data at both individual and collective levels. This research aims to comprehensively analyze the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) through a thorough bibliometric analysis covering the period from 2014 to 2023. The goal is to gain an in-depth understanding of the evolution of ITS research. This research employs bibliometric analysis to uncover trends and patterns in studies related to "Intelligent Transportation Systems." The research data is sourced from the Scopus database, encompassing information from document titles, abstracts, and keywords. The time frame considered for this study spans from 2014 to 2023. Studies were identified using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses) framework. From the 39,846 records identified from the Scopus database, 1,839 studies were included in the analysis. Subsequently, the results are analyzed using the VOS viewer software. The analysis highlights a significant shift in research focus, with core themes like "intelligent transportation sys," "vehicle," "algorithm," and "system" remaining central. Cybersecurity and associated risks have gained prominence due to increased connectivity in ITS. The study identifies promising research directions, including experimental technology validation, real-time traffic management solutions, and IoT and smart city concept integration. This research provides a comprehensive and novel overview of the ITS field's evolution and trends, offering actionable insights for advancing intelligent transportation systems.

Abstract

The primary objective of this research is to thoroughly investigate the intricate dynamics and collective influence of essential elements within the e-learning domain. Examining the interdependencies and combined effects of technology system quality, information quality, and support services on user satisfaction. This study investigates the key factors affecting user satisfaction in e-learning at Universitas Negeri Makassar, focusing on the roles of Information Quality, System Quality, and Service Quality. Survey data from 231 diverse students were analyzed using a Likert scale questionnaire, with Structural Equation Modeling via IBM AMOS. The findings aim to reveal how these quality dimensions impact user satisfaction, potentially guiding enhancements in e-learning system design. A comprehensive study examining e-learning systems conclusively found that System Quality, Information Quality, and Service Quality are pivotal factors influencing user satisfaction. Improving system functionality, ensuring the accuracy and relevance of information, and delivering high-quality service were all significantly correlated with higher satisfaction levels among users. This underscores the critical need for educational institutions to prioritize these aspects to enhance the e-learning experience. The research presents strong evidence that educational institutions can significantly boost user satisfaction by focusing on the quality of the system, information, and services provided in e-learning platforms. These findings provide actionable insights for decision-makers in the education sector, suggesting that investments in these areas will likely yield positive outcomes in user engagement and satisfaction with e-learning systems.

Abstract

Since the Philippines has been subjected to numerous seismic events throughout the past several decades, it is only prudent to be aware and prepared for what will unavoidably happen when the Marikina West Valley Fault System moves. The study aims to assess the College of Science students' earthquake awareness and preparedness level, an essential part of their understanding of proper response and management in natural disasters. It will also allow the community and the environment to establish necessary precautions. A descriptive-survey study approach was applied to assess the level of awareness and preparedness of 160 respondents from all year levels from the College of Science at Bulacan State University. Results show that most respondents are highly aware and prepared for an earthquake. However, low levels were shown in some components of earthquake public awareness and disaster risk reduction preparedness. This includes the respondents' contingency plan awareness, security of household materials, and coordination with local government units regarding potentially high-risk objects. A significant difference was also seen in the respondents' awareness of the existing contingency plan and participation in first-aid training for risk reduction. In addition, first-year students mainly acquired their awareness from School/Office, while second- to fourth-year students acquired it mainly from the Internet. With the obtained results, the authors created a proposed intervention consisting of programs regarding the university's Incident Command System, Contingency Plan, and Disaster Risk Reduction Management.

Abstract

The primary aim of this study is to assess irrigation water's salinity levels and categorize them as regular, slightly to moderately saline, or severely saline, using the salinity parameters established by Ayers and Westcot as a reference. This practice plays a substantial role in global agriculture, accounting for 20% of total cultivated land and contributing 40% of the world's food production. It falls under the classification of water usage known as Class C, which encompasses Fishery Water for the propagation and growth of aquatic resources, Recreational Water Class II for boating and similar activities, and Agriculture, including irrigation and livestock watering. This classification underscores irrigation water's profound influence on agriculture as a whole. Salinity, often considered one of humanity's earliest environmental challenges, is paramount. Excessive salinity in agriculture, particularly in the context of rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivation, a staple crop that nourishes half of the global population, poses a formidable threat. High salinity levels can potentially hinder plant growth, reduce crop yields, and compromise the quality of agricultural products. This research seeks to illuminate the critical issue of salinity in irrigation, specifically focusing on its implications for rice cultivation, which plays a pivotal role in global food security. By delineating the salinity status of irrigation water, it aims to provide valuable insights into the challenges confronted by agricultural communities and lay the groundwork for informed decision-making in sustainable agriculture.

Abstract

The accessibility and convenience of purchasing fashion items have increased due to continuous manufacturing and high demand. The fast fashion industry has capitalized on the latest trends by offering cheap, affordable, yet disposable items, contributing to global pollution through solid waste and wastewater. This study aims to assess (a) students' level of awareness regarding the waste contribution of the fast fashion industry, (b) their clothing consumption behavior concerning purchases and utilization, (c) their waste disposal practices, and (d) the relationship between clothing consumption behavior and their level of awareness. The study employs systematic random sampling to determine an appropriate sample size from the student population, resulting in 104 student respondents for the adapted survey. Goodman and Kruskal's Gamma analysis assesses the association between clothing consumption and awareness. The results indicate that the students know about the industry's wastewater and solid waste contribution. However, the study also reveals a negligible to moderate relationship between clothing consumption, including the frequency of purchases and utilization, and their overall awareness. This suggests that despite being highly aware of the environmental issues associated with the fast fashion industry, students continue to support and purchase products from this sector.

Abstract

One of the significant environmental challenges we face is improper waste segregation. Poor waste disposal practices hinder the progress of integrated solid waste management in households. This study aims to identify problems encountered during implementation and provide specific solutions to enhance the quality of life for residents and the Homeowners Association and establish adequate waste segregation practices that promote environmental cleanliness. The study utilizes quantitative and qualitative methods with a descriptive design to evaluate the waste segregation system in Alido Heights Subdivision, Bulihan, City of Malolos, Bulacan. The researchers designed a survey questionnaire with questions constructed and developed based on the issues identified by the residents. Simultaneously, interviews were conducted with an officer of the homeowners’ association to gather their knowledge and experiences. The results indicate that the respondents effectively manage household waste and segregation. Furthermore, the efficiency of the waste segregation system implemented by the subdivision reveals inadequacies in designated waste disposal equipment and the location of the dumping site, resulting in inefficient waste segregation within the subdivision. The improvement programs recommended by the subdivision’s residents include providing more garbage bins, allocating additional waste disposal sites, and implementing a campaign program to establish a more efficient segregation system among the residents in the area.
