Abstract

'Nutritional transition' usually entails a move towards a high-energy diet and lower levels of practice with detrimental effects. The pilot research examined whether parent education works at the home level in a small group of University employees to affect food adoptions and child nutrition. Three groups of people with different degrees of skills and education participated. In all homes, weighed food records were used to determine the per capita intake. Nutrient calculators were used to determining the nutrients. Children were classified into underweight, overweight, and normal weight using BMI scores. A total of 178 individuals were present in the research, which provided us with food log data. There were 67 children from 30 households (32 (47.8%) were girls and 35 (52.2%) were males). The age of children with median age is 5.52 ± 2.89 years. Research revealed that 43.3% of children were underweight and 25.4% were overweight by using their BMI scores. Energy consumption was higher in families with overweight children compared to families with underweight and normal children. Underweight kids come from impoverished families. The per capita consumption of the whole family in children was strongly linked with the BMI. Obesity has risen among families with medium incomes belonging to Class 2—probably in families that move up from poverty. The nutritional condition of children was largely linked with motherly education.

Abstract

Quality control has an important role in the manufacturing process. One of the statistical tools used in quality control is Statistical Process Control (SPC). The SPC product is a control chart. A control chart is a graphical tool used to determine if a process is under statistical quality control, helping to identify issues and drive quality improvements. Control charts are usually used to control variables or attribute data quality. Commonly used variable data is data with mean and variability characteristics. Various types of control charts are control charts for mean, control charts for variability, and simultaneous control charts designed to control mean and variability simultaneously. In real-field practice, manufacturing requires multivariate process control because many variables must be controlled. This research proposes a multivariate simultaneous control chart, the Exponentially Weighted Moving Average Max Multivariate (EWMA Max-Mchart). This control chart can handle multivariate process control simultaneously, both process mean and process variability. This research tests the performance of control charts with a simulation study using synthetic data with several process mean conditions and a covariance matrix. As a comparison, the development of the previous Max-M control chart was also tested. Based on the synthetic data generated, a performance comparison was made by looking at the suitability of in-control and out-of-control. The comparison results show that the EWMA Max-Mchart has better quality control performance if there is a shift than the Max-Mchart.

Abstract

A decline in the number of locations meeting drinking water quality standards was observed based on internal monitoring in 2021 and 2022. To address this, clustering was performed on water quality test locations using Self Organizing Maps (SOM). The analysis of data from 60 locations, considering turbidity, pH, iron, and nitrite parameters, indicated very good water quality. Outliers were detected before clustering, with the Ireng location being the most extreme, showing turbidity of 4.95 NTU and pH of 8.41, near specification limits. The clustering process removed one outlier, forming two clusters with a silhouette coefficient of 0.668. Multivariate normality tests showed the samples were not multivariate normal, leading to the use of Kruskal-Wallis testing. The results revealed significant differences between clusters 1 and 2, particularly in turbidity and iron levels. Cluster 2 had better water quality, with lower turbidity and iron content. Some locations in cluster 1 exceeded 1 NTU turbidity and had higher iron levels. The company should improve water quality monitoring and control at locations approaching specification limits.
