Abstract

Harmony within a family, especially communication between parents and children, plays a crucial role in fulfilling a child's basic need for acceptance and parental love. The film “Nanti Kita Cerita Tentang Hari Ini” (NKCTHI) attempts to depict this issue through the technique of visual storytelling. This study aims to analyze how the The Mountain visual storytelling approach (a method of crafting a story with an emotional conflict peak in the middle, resembling a mountain shape) and visual narrative elements such as narration techniques, editing, coloring, and cinematography in the film NKCTHI effectively portray family emotional conflicts in a close and realistic manner. Using a qualitative-descriptive method, the analysis examines each scene and visual element in the film. The findings reveal that the visual storytelling approach successfully provides a tangible depiction of the importance of openness within families, while affirming that films can serve as an effective medium for conveying social and moral values.

Abstract

Bamboo is a building construction material used throughout the archipelago and is the oldest building material. The use of bamboo construction materials is suitable for sustainable development strategies and green architecture campaigns. Indonesia is one of the countries that is very rich in types of bamboo that grow according to local soil conditions, especially in West Sumatra. There are many types of bamboo that are found for various uses in building construction. The use of bamboo in simple structures is common. However, for large structures there are still very few. This is likely due to a lack of knowledge regarding the use and process of preservation and connections. For now, researchers will focus more on forms of bamboo connections that are commonly used and are quite durable. There have been many commonly used bamboo connections, but this time the researchers will make them for large buildings. Meanwhile, for the structure of this Resort building, the type of joints and connections between bamboo structures are key in ensuring the transfer of structural loads to the bamboo building. The aim of this research is to look for bamboo connections in the structure of resort hotel buildings. The research method used is descriptive qualitative to describe the appropriate type of connection in planning a resort hotel in the Rupat Island tourist area. The results of this research are several forms of joints in bamboo material which is an alternative material in this area as a form of attraction in resort hotel design.

Abstract

Increased work pressures and hectic activities in urban environments often cause stress and reduce people's quality of life. One of the most effective ways to relieve stress is through a staycation, which is a short vacation by staying at a hotel not far from where you live. Deluxe Executive Indoor Balcony rooms are designed with interiors that support tranquility and comfort. This study aims to evaluate the visual elements in interior design that can create an atmosphere of relaxation. The method used is qualitative, with data obtained from literature studies in the form of books, documents, and research reports. The results of the analysis show that visual elements such as color, materials, lighting, and scenery have an important role in shaping a relaxing space. Although there are still things that need to be improved, the design of this room has provided a relaxing stay. The findings can serve as a reference in designing interiors that support mental health.

Abstract

The Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Lancang Kuning currently lacks an integrated signage system, leading to navigation difficulties and reduced academic efficiency. This study aims to design a signage prototype that is informative, communicative, and aligned with the faculty’s Malay cultural identity, while ensuring accessibility for all users. A qualitative method with a design thinking approach was used, covering the stages of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Data were collected through field observations and semi-structured interviews with students and lecturers. The prototypes, both physical and digital, were tested through limited usability testing. Results indicate that the signage design should include a clear information hierarchy, the university’s corporate color palette, readable typography, and strong cultural elements. Signage placement was also designed to be accessible and easy to locate. The implementation of this signage is expected to improve wayfinding, enhance user experience, and strengthen the professional image of the Faculty of Engineering.

Abstract

This study analyzes the story “Melting Face” in Junji Ito's horror manga “Dissolving Classroom” through visual analysis and the concept of abjection. The story depicts bodies and faces melting as a result of excessive apologies and praise, which is not only visually frightening but also contains symbolic meaning and social criticism. Through visual reading of key panels, it is revealed that the deformation of faces in the narrative depicts the collapse of individual identity under the pressure of repressive social norms and cultural politeness in contemporary Japanese society. This study shows that the horror in Dissolving Classroom functions as a metaphor for oppressive social experiences and manipulation in interpersonal relationships. The symbolism of melting faces represents the conflict between self-expression and hypocritical moral expectations. This finding affirms that Junji Ito's work is not merely a product of popular horror but also a critical reflection on cultural dynamics and social anxieties in modern society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the visual strategy used in the campaign video of the Indonesian presidential candidate pair Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, titled “Free Lunch and Milk”. The 30-second video features Prabowo as a child-like animated character delivering political messages through a light and friendly visual approach. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method using a single case study, analyzed through visual semiotics and message appeal theory. The findings indicate that the video combines rational and emotional appeals by utilizing a dominant light blue color palette, the “Gemoy” character design, and casual typography to create a warm and child-friendly candidate image. This research highlights the strategic role of visual communication design in shaping voter perception through accessible and structured visual elements. The study is expected to contribute to the development of political campaign design that is communicative, ethical, and relevant in today’s digital culture

Abstract

This study aims to explore the visual form and philosophical value of wayang kayon as an inspiration in designing modular shelves made of rattan. Wayang kayon, as a cosmological symbol in wayang performances, represents the balance, transition, and harmony of the universe. The design approach is carried out exploratively by adapting the silhouette and ornaments of kayon into a functional and aesthetic modular system. Rattan was chosen as the main material because of its flexible, lightweight, and environmentally friendly properties, as well as supporting the formation of organic structures. The research methods include literature studies, exploration of forms, and development of design prototypes. The results show that the integration of the form of kayon and the characteristics of rattan produces a modular shelf design that is not only spatially adaptive, but also contains strong local cultural values. This study contributes to the development of interior design based on local wisdom.

Abstract

Traditional tofu factories in Indonesia still rely on conventional processing methods, which often affect product quality and contribute to environmental pollution. This study proposes the integration of a Soybean Center, tofu factory, restaurant, and retail kiosk within a single complex using the principles of Industrial Architecture. This approach emphasizes functional workspace efficiency, optimal material utilization, and introduces soybean education for visitors. The research adopts a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, involving direct observations of traditional tofu factories to understand production, operational, and environmental requirements. The objective is to develop a multifunctional building design that balances functional, aesthetic, economic, production, and environmentally friendly aspects. The design outcome is expected to create a modern tofu factory that enhances product quality, reduces environmental impact, and supports local food education, while simultaneously opening economic opportunities through an integrated restaurant and retail kiosk within a cohesive industrial architectural concept.
