Abstract

Background: Circumcision is a minor surgical procedure that aims to cut and clean the prepuce of the penis for various indications. This minor surgical procedure causes varying degrees of anxiety in most children. One intervention to reduce anxiety in children before circumcision is to distract them with video games. Purpose: To determine the effect of playing video games on anxiety in children undergoing circumcision. Method: A pre-experimental study with a one-group pre-test post-test design. The sample size was 32 children selected based on several criteria: no visual or hearing problems, cooperative patients, no excessive anxiety, and good communication skills. The Child Anxiety Scale was used to assess anxiety. Statistical analysis used the Wilcoxon rank sum test. Results: The level of anxiety in children before circumcision was mostly in the moderate anxiety range before the intervention, with 14 (43.8%) having an average score of 2.25. After the video game intervention, 14 (43.8%) children experienced mild anxiety with an average score of 1.01. The Wilcoxone rank sum test yielded a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Playing video games can reduce anxiety levels in children prior to circumcision. Keywords: Anxiety; Circumcision; Playing; Video Games.

Abstract

Background: Stroke patients must comply with medication and undergo rehabilitation to prevent recurrent attacks. Self-efficacy plays a significant role in patient adherence to and compliance with these programs. Post-stroke patients have varying functional statuses, which may result in differences in their levels of self-efficacy in carrying out these programs. Purpose: To identify the relationship between patients' self-efficacy in undergoing rehabilitation and treatment. Method: A correlational descriptive study using accidental sampling conducted on 69 post-stroke patients. Data were collected using the Stroke Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (SSEQ), the Self-Efficacy for Appropriate Medication use Scale (SEAMS), and the Barthel Index. Data analysis was performed using Spearman's analysis. Results: Most respondents (40.6%) had high self-efficacy in rehabilitation, 62.3% had high self-efficacy in medication, and 56.5% had mild dependence. There was a significant relationship between self-efficacy in carrying out rehabilitation and the functional status of patients (p = 0.000), and there was a significant relationship between self-efficacy in carrying out medication and the functional status of patients (p = 0.000). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between self-efficacy in undergoing rehabilitation and treatment and the functional status of patients. Health workers, especially nurses, must motivate patients to undergo treatment and rehabilitation, particularly those with low functional status. Abstract

Background: The increasing incidence of cancer means that more people are living with cancer, which increases the responsibility of informal caregivers. Most caregivers are not prepared to fulfil their duties when taking on responsibility for the treatment and care of patients, which can become a burden on caregivers and affect the care of cancer patients. Purpose: To conduct a literature review that assesses the effects of e-health interventions on the burden of informal caregivers. Method: The research method was a literature review using a scoping review approach. The scoping review used inclusion criteria for articles published between 2020 and 2025, using a randomized control trial and experimental study design, and published in English. Article selection used the PRISMA Flow Diagram. The databases used were PubMed and EBSCO. Proquest and engine search Google Scholar. Results: The results of this literature search found 16,690 articles on e-health. However, only 18 articles met the inclusion criteria. Ten articles were complete but did not focus on the benefits of e-health on caregiver burden. Thus, only five articles met the inclusion criteria. Four e-health interventions were found to have an effect on reducing caregiver burden, such as stress, in family caregivers. Conclusion: These findings indicate that e-health interventions have beneficial effects for informal caregivers of cancer patients in long-term care. Abstract

Background: Antidepressant medications are widely used as a first-line treatment for depressive disorders and various other mental health conditions in both primary and hospital-based healthcare settings. Despite their proven efficacy in alleviating depressive symptoms, antidepressants are frequently associated with a range of adverse effects that may negatively impact patient adherence, treatment satisfaction, and long-term therapeutic outcomes. Understanding the safety profile of antidepressants is therefore essential for optimizing clinical management and improving treatment success. Purpose: To review and synthesize current scientific evidence regarding the commonly encountered adverse effect profiles of antidepressant medications and the strategies used for their management in clinical practice. Results: A literature review of studies published between 2020 and 2025 identified several frequently reported adverse effects associated with antidepressant use, including gastrointestinal disturbances, sleep disorders, sexual dysfunction, weight changes, and neurological symptoms such as headache and tremor. The adverse effect profiles varied across antidepressant classes, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin–norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), tricyclic antidepressants, and atypical antidepressants. Management strategies commonly reported in the literature included dose adjustment, switching antidepressant agents or drug classes, the use of adjunctive therapies to alleviate specific adverse effects, and continuous patient education and monitoring to enhance treatment tolerability and adherence. Conclusion: Antidepressant medications exhibit diverse adverse effect profiles that may compromise treatment effectiveness if not appropriately addressed. This literature review highlights the importance of recognizing commonly encountered adverse effects and implementing individualized, evidence-based management strategies to improve drug tolerability and patient adherence. An integrated and patient-centered approach is essential to optimize antidepressant therapy in clinical practice. Abstract

Background: Spiritual leadership plays a critical role in service management within psychiatric hospitals. However, psychiatric nurses’ implementation of spiritual leadership in nursing care remains very limited. Purpose: To map and identify previous research findings regarding the implementation of spiritual leadership among nurses working in psychiatric hospitals. Method: This scoping review was conducted through a systematic search of three databases: PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect. The selection criteria focused on studies published in Indonesian and English between 2015 and 2025. Inclusion criteria encompassed quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods studies discussing spiritual leadership among nurses in hospitals. Results: The search results indicated that five articles met the inclusion criteria. The key finding is that spiritual leadership is not merely about religious aspects, but rather about fulfilling fundamental human needs for meaning in life and a sense of belonging in the workplace. Furthermore, spiritual leadership is effective in reducing turnover rates by mitigating emotional stress and exhaustion resulting from extreme workloads. Conclusion: Healthcare institutions are advised to integrate spiritual leadership training into staff development programs and organizational policies to create a more holistic and emotionally competent care system. Abstract

Background: Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) is a chronic complication of diabetes mellitus that significantly affects patients’ quality of life. Several wound classification systems are used to assess DFU severity, including the Wagner and SHID classifications. However, evidence comparing the application of these classifications in evaluating quality of life (QoL) among DFU patients has not been comprehensively mapped. Purpose: To map and compare existing evidence regarding the use of SHID and Wagner wound classifications in evaluating quality of life in patients with diabetic foot ulcer. Method: A scoping review was conducted following the Arksey and O’Malley framework. Literature searches were performed in electronic databases (PubMed and Google Scholar) for studies published within the last five years. Eligible articles were analyzed using descriptive and thematic approaches. Results: Most studies applied the Wagner classification as the primary clinical assessment tool, while SHID was reported to provide a more comprehensive depiction of wound conditions. Conclusion: A consistent association between wound severity and decreased quality of life was identified, although direct integration of both classifications with QoL instruments remains limited. Keywords: Diabetic Foot Ulcer; Wagner Classification; SHID; Quality of Life; Scoping Review.
