Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is classified into a group of metabolic diseases with special characteristics of increased blood sugar levels or hyperglycemia, which is caused by abnormalities in insulin secretion or abnormalities in insulin work. Physical activity can also affect blood sugar levels, one of which is the type of physical exercise recommended for people with diabetes mellitus, walking. This research design is experimental in the form of a one group pretest-posttest design. This research was carried out by providing physical activity intervention by walking 3 times a week for 20 minutes. Based on the application of EBP, the results obtained from 3 research respondents experienced a decrease in blood glucose levels every day with different differences. This can be proven that non-pharmacological therapy using walking physical activity is effective and can be used to reduce blood glucose levels in diabetes mellitus sufferers. . It is hoped that the results of this research can provide insight to diabetes mellitus sufferers in efforts to manage diabetes mellitus with the physical activity of walking and can have implications for this.

Abstract

This research discusses the use of matrices in sustained-release tablet formulations to optimize the active substance release profile. Extended-release tablets are a type of tablet formulation designed to release the active substance gradually in the body over a certain period of time. The main purpose of sustained-release tablets is to maintain drug levels in the blood or target area over a longer period of time, compared to conventional tablets which release the active substance quickly after ingestion. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach which aims to deepen an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon being studied. As a result, selecting the right type of matrix proves to be crucial in achieving the expected therapeutic effectiveness. Polymer matrices, both natural and synthetic, play an important role in controlling the stability and efficiency of tablets and their ability to gradually release active substances.

Abstract

Physiologically, pain is generally felt by all mothers who face the birth process. Pain arises due to uterine contractions which are useful for opening the cervix. However, intense pain can disturb comfort and can affect psychological conditions. As many as 46% of primigravida mothers experienced severe pain, 64% experienced mild to moderate pain. In multigravida mothers, 37% experienced severe pain and 63% experienced moderate and mild pain. One way to overcome severe pain in the first stage is birth ball exercises. The aim of the research was to determine the effect of using a birth ball on first stage labor pain. The design of this research was a quasi-experimental one group with control group. The population in this study were all mothers giving birth at PMB Dewi Anggraini in March-April 2024, totaling 28 respondents. The sampling technique used is total sampling. Statistical tests use the Independent Sample T Test. The average pain in the intervention group was 3.52 and the average labor pain in the control group was 5.52, meaning there was a reduction in pain levels of 2.00. The significant value was found to be p: 0.001 < 0.05, meaning that there was a difference in the pain scale of the first stage of labor in the groups that used a birth ball and those that did not use a birth ball. It is hoped that health workers can improve maternal care during childbirth, one of which is by inviting mothers to use a birth ball.

Abstract

Globally, the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women in developed countries is 49% and in developing countries it is 53%. In Indonesia, the rate of anemia in pregnant women is quite high, namely 48.9%. Anemia in pregnant women can increase the risk of premature birth and bleeding. One effort that can help prevent and treat anemia in pregnant women is to consume foods that are sources of iron, for example dates. The aim of the research was to determine the effect of consuming dates on hemoglobin levels in pregnant women with anemia. The research design used a quasi-experimental one group with control group. The experimental group was the group that consumed dates and Fe tablets, while the control group only consumed Fe tablets. The population is all third trimester pregnant women at PMB Lina in May 2024, totaling 24 respondents where each group consists of 12 respondents. The sampling technique used is total sampling. Based on the results of the normality test, sig. >0.05, then the statistical test used is the Paired Sample T Test. The average hemoglobin level in the experimental group before being given dates and Fe tablets was 10.2 gr/dl and the average hemoglobin level after being given date palm juice was 11.4 gr/dl. The results of the Wilcoxon test obtained a p value of 0.001, meaning that there was an effect of giving dates on hemoglobin levels in pregnant women. It is hoped that health workers can increase public knowledge, especially pregnant women, about food sources high in iron so that they can prevent and reduce the incidence of pregnancy anemia. Abstract

Goiter is an enlargement that occurs in the thyroid gland. Goiter can be classified based on physiology (euthyroidism, hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroisdism), morphology (diffuse and nodular goiter) and clinically (toxic and non-toxic goiter). Multinodular goiter is an enlargement of the thyroid gland with multiple nodules in which the thyroid gland follicles experience changes both morphologically and functionally. The characteristics of nontoxic multinodose goiter are slow, continuous and expanding growth. Surgery is one treatment for most types of goiter. The operation is performed under general anesthesia. Operative procedures performed on the head and neck are high-risk operations that can cause brain damage and result in death. Therefore, it’s necessary to prepare an anesthesia plan as well as appropriate pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative management to avoid complications that may occur. Mrs. BP, 65 years old, came with complaints that a lump had appeared in his neck since approximately 2 years ago and had grown to approximately 5 cm in the last 1 year. In 2003 the patient underwent partial thyroidectomy under general anesthesia. This case report aims to look at anesthetic management in patients with multinodose goiter, where appropriate anesthetic management also determines the success and prognosis of surgical procedures in these patients.

Abstract

Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in children is a global concern, with cases reported in Panama, India, Haiti, and Nigeria. In Indonesia, the incidence significantly increased in 2022, raising concerns about the importance of prevention. This study aims to describe the knowledge, attitudes, and actions of mothers in preventing Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in children in the working area of Mokoau Health Center in 2023. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through interviews with five mothers of children aged 0-5 years and one general practitioner at Mokoau Health Center. The findings indicate that mothers' knowledge of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) is still limited, and their attitudes are generally concerned but not very proactive. Preventive actions taken are still suboptimal, with mothers often relying on self-care before seeking medical help when the condition worsens. This is due to the lack of available information and insufficient access to adequate health education. These findings highlight the need for enhanced health education to improve awareness and the effectiveness of preventive measures among mothers.
