Abstract

This research focuses on the influence of anticipation guide strategy on students' reading comprehension at the twelfth grade of MA KM Muhammadiyah Padang Panjang, 2017/2018 Academic Year. The research design was an experimental research conducted to the Science class as the participants of the research. The instrument of this research was a multiple-choice test distributed as the pre-test and post-test. As the result, the students’ reading comprehension became significantly better after being taught by the anticipation guide strategy. It is found that the pre-test average score was 42.36, and after the treatment, the post-test average score was 75.7. The result shows that the anticipation guide strategy has significant influence on the student’s reading comprehension.

Abstract

AbstractDictionary is not enough to give a meaning of a particular word or sentence. Therefore, one needs meaning in context to formulate the meaning in order to make sure the intended meaning, particularly the meaning of Holy Quran. It is no doubt that the similar meaning (synonym) has an effect on expansion. It gives a particular meaning on a certain sentence. As a result, meaning is sometimes restricted and can not be  intercpreted freely. It is safe to say that semantically, the meaning is restricted on a certain meaning. Pragmatically, howevers, meaning needs a context. So that meaning and context is related each other. Context, then is needed in interpreting the use of a sentence and expression.Keyword:  المعجم, الدلالة, والسياق, والتكنولوجيا

Abstract

Leaning process can influence students’ achievement. The lack of students’ understanding on the particular materials could decrease students’ achievement. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the leaning process of biology in human circulator system at the eight grade of Junior High School (SMP) 3 Rambatan covering the lesson plan, implementation of learning proces, evaluation, and students’ learning outcome. This researh was descriptive using qualitative approach. It was conducted at SMP 3 Rambatan. Data were collected using IPKG on lesson, interview, document, and field notes. The reseach shows as follows: (1)  the format of lesson plan used by the teachers has fulfilled the IPKG and could be categorized into good; (2) the learning process had not yet referred to the IPKG but could be classified as good and enough category; (3) the evaluation of learning process had not referred to IPKG; (4) students’ learning activities were still low; and (5) students’ learning outcome were unsatisfactory.Kata Kunci: proses pembelajaran biologi, sistem peredaran darah manusia, aktivitas   siswa, hasil belajar.

Abstract

AbstractThe researcher found the problem at MTSN 1 in the city of  Bengkulu at grade VIII I that students got difficulty in comprehending reading texts, and in understanding meanings of words in paragraphs, and teachers techniques  made the students bored. Therefore, the purpose of the research is to improve students’ reading comprehension through REAP techniques. The subject of the research is the students of  grade VIII I consisting of 27 students, 14 female students and 13 male students. The instruments of the research are reading tets, observation sheetteacher and the students, interview guide and that for documentary study.  The results of the research show that the  REAP teachniques are effective in improving the students’ reading comprehension. The students got involved directly and were able to cooperate with their peers during the teaching-learning process. The research was conducted in two cycles an the test was administered at the end of each cycle. From the average mean scores, it could be seen that there was improvement of the the students’ reading ability. In cycle I, the mean score was 70.5 and in cycle 2, it was 78.7,and at the Post assessment, it was  82.2. It means that the students’ mean scores has reached the research target. Thus, it can be concluded that REAPtechniques can improve the students’ readng comprehension. Abstract

AbstractFollowing the widespread and growing popularity of English communication across the globe, the implementation of and the research on innovation in language teaching is mushrooming, especially in the teaching of English speaking. This study aims at measuring how far pop-culture themed classroom activity named Speaking 3’s Got Talent gives impacts for students speaking skill improvement at IAIN Salatiga, through an observation of a class in the English Department with a number of students of 30 undertaking Speaking 3 course in the odd-semester of the academic year of 2016/2017. Using a quantitative approach, this research utilizes questionnaire and direct observation for collecting data, and makes use of three methods of data analysis namely questionnaire scale-analysis, CEFR (The Common European Framework) speaking grid, and teacher’s made rubric for speaking for assessment which pinpoint three key measured variables namely students’ attitude toward the activity, teacher’s assessment toward students’ performance referring to both CEFR and teacher’s made rubric. This research finds that students had positive (excellent and very good) attitude towards the time, English, avatar, expertise and assessment variables of the activity and viewed that it is effective in downgrading their degree of stage fright; secondly, students obtain excellent and very good assessment in both the CEFR and teacher’s made rubric model. The three methods of measurements implied its affectivity in enhancing university students’ speaking skill and both student and teacher assessment recommend this activity to be applied in English classrooms.Keywords: speaking skill, pop-cultural activity, attitude, stage fright, assessment

Abstract

Science learning forms to improve the quality of university students’ learning are aimed are aimed at figuring out learning models which promote students’ learning ability simply and efficiently on the basis of knowledge and skills needed in learning process-self learning. Adapting current technology toward science learning has become one of the goals of learning model innovation. Furthermore, science leaning models have strength in 3 aspects: (1) problem-solving learning, (2) experience-based learning, and (3) individual and cooperation-based learning. Among some forms of learning can be applied in science learning are (a) learning model through analogy, (2) learning model through media, and (c) information technology (web)-based learning. Several components need to be well managed to ensure that such learning model innovation can be effectively applied to obtain the goals are: professional teachers, students, educational facilities, learnig process, curriculum, monitoring and evaluation.Kata Kunci: pembelajaran, sain, mutu

Abstract

This article discusses conceptually the approach of suffistic psychotherapy in handling religious and moral problems of Moslem teenagers. Among those problems are: drug abuse, drunks, students fights, free sex, and lack of religious practices. The above mentioned approach is believed to be able to solve the problems by encouraging the teenagers to recite the Holy Qoran, to perform late night prayer (qiyamul lail), to do fasting (compulsory and optional as well), to pray and to have self evaluation (muhasabah) more.Kata kunci : psikoterapi sufistik, menangani masalah agama, dan moral remaja

Abstract

In general this study was aimed at 1) identifying the roles played by  Islamic teaching (PAI) teachers as educators in integrating PAI instructional materials into health education, 2) detecting PAI teachers’ participation in carrying out health services, and 3) identifying PAI teachers’ roles as the supervisor of healthy school environment at SDN 23 Sungai Tarab. The findings show that the teachers were able to integrate PAI instructional materials into health programs conducted by the school. Such integration was especially carried out by means of topic on thaharah. In addition, the teachers took active participation in any health service program at the school. Though the percentage of their participation was not as significant as the classroom teachers, they kept participating in any school health programs carried out by the school.Kata Kunci: guru, pemeliharaan, kebersihan, kesehatan

Abstract

Since the implemetation of KBK and KTSP, the goals of teaching English at schools are emphasized on the mastery of four language competences-linguistic, strategic, sociolinguistic and actional-which will lead to the mastery of discourse competence. Those competences are realized in for language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) through the analysis of texts (genres). Therefore, one of the approaches to facilitate the accomplishment of the goals is Genre-based Instruction (GBI). This approach is mainly a language teaching program which is based upon Genre Analysis Technique. This technique deals with anaysing text, both spoken and written, in order to figure out social or commnicative functions, genre structures, lexico-grammatical features of particular genres. Consequently, the learners are able to use the language for appropriate situational and cultural contexts.Key Words: genre, genre analysis, genre-based instruction (GBI), foreign language classroom, functional grammar

Abstract

This article is a part of study on the contribution of credibility and achievement motivation toward performance of supervisor for Islamic teaching teachers (PAI) at state elementary schools in West Sumatera. Based on preliminary observation, it was found that the performance of the supervisor was low due to some assumed factors, such as low credibility. This study was, therefore, to elaborate such contribution. The formulated hypothesis proposed was credibility contributed toward performance of supervisor for Islamic teaching teachers (PAI) at state elementary schools in West Sumatera. This was a correlational study in which all supervisors for Islamic teaching teachers (PAI) at state elementary schools in West Sumatera were taken as the population. The sample was determenined by following Cochran’s formula. Likert’s scale questionnaire was used to collect the data after validity and reliability had been achieved. The data then were analysed by employing simple correlational and regressional techniques. The findings showed that the hypothesis was empirically accepted. Credibility contributed 15.2% toward performance of supervisor for Islamic teaching teachers (PAI) at state elementary schools. Credibility was categorized fair (65.22% out of maximum score) and performance of supervisor for Islamic teaching teachers (PAI) at state elementary schools was categorized fair (79.38% out of maximum score).Kata Kunci: kredibilitas, kinerja, pengawas pendidikan agama Islam, sekolah dasar negeri
