Abstract

This study analyzes the use of tongues in congregational worship based on the theological perspective of 1 Corinthians 14:2-11. The main focus of the study is to assess whether the use of tongues brings edification or creates confusion among the congregation. Through a qualitative approach with a hermeneutic analysis method, this study found that tongues are only effective in building the faith of the congregation if accompanied by an interpretation that can be understood by all church members. Without interpretation, tongues are more likely to be confusing, especially for those who are new to worship, so that it can disrupt the church's testimony. Paul emphasized the importance of order and edification in worship, so the modern church needs to pay attention to these principles in worship practices. This study recommends practical guidance and theological training for church leaders and congregations to use the gift of tongues appropriately and wisely. Further studies are needed to explore the use of tongues in various contemporary church traditions in order to enrich theological understanding of biblical worship practices.

Abstract

Spiritual leadership requires more than just theological knowledge or preaching skills. Emotional intelligence is one of the essential elements of leadership, enabling leaders to recognize, manage, and utilize emotions effectively. In the context of church leadership, this ability becomes crucial in dealing with pressure, conflicts, and wise decision-making. This study examines the relevance of emotional intelligence in church leadership by referring to the story of King Solomon in 1 Kings 3:1-28. This narrative highlights how wisdom and emotional sensitivity were employed to resolve conflicts fairly. The analysis connects modern emotional intelligence with biblical principles, demonstrating that emotional intelligence significantly contributes to decision-making based on emotional control, empathy, and effective communication. This research aims to enrich the understanding of church leadership and enhance the quality of leadership among God’s servants.

Abstract

Genesis 2:15 provides a theological understanding of the husband's role as the head of the family who must be responsible for his family. But what happens is that there are husbands who are less responsible. Previous interpreters have made good contributions in interpreting Genesis 2:15. But these interpretations only highlight the necessity for humans to work. So it is important to re-interpret this text from the aspect of the husband's responsibility as the head of the family in a Christian family. This research was conducted to find out the husband's responsibilities as the head of the family and the principles in carrying out these responsibilities based on Genesis 2:15. The research method uses the library research method with a hermeneutic approach. The results of the study show that the word take has the meaning of taking and moving with one purpose. The word place has the meaning of resting or resting place. God is the main cause that placed Adam in the garden of Eden as a place of rest or as a pleasant habitat. The word cultivate means to manage seriously and the word maintain means to maintain, namely activities carried out with the aim of 'preservation' or certainty of availability. The conclusion of this study is that the husband's responsibility in a Christian family is to work to provide for his family. That responsibility comes from God and must be accountable to God. Work must be with the principle of sincerity and consistency.

Abstract

This text is very important to examine, so that its meaning is not practically understood, so that it can be trapped in a false understanding. In Hebrew, there are two types of prohibitions: temporary prohibitions that are often translated with the word 'do not' and absolute or permanent, normative prohibitions that are often translated with the word 'shall not'.  In the New Living Translation, the form of prohibition used is the word 'do not'. The use of this form of prohibition in the New Living Translation tends not to indicate a normative meaning, which can lead to misunderstanding if read practically. Therefore, the author considers it important to be able to criticize this translation by describing the meaning of its exegesis, so that it can be interpreted as it should be, understood correctly and can be applied in the life of believers at all times. To elaborate on the author's intention above, the author examines this part of the text by using the Biblical research method with the principle of Grammatical Hermeneutics in order to obtain the true meaning of this text, with a descriptive system through Library Research. So that it can answer the problem of practical understanding. It is hoped that the results of this study can provide meaningful input for the proper translation of this text so that it is easier to understand and reflect in the life of faith for believers, as well as contributing good and correct theological knowledge of this text.

Abstract

Globalization and the passage of time have made it necessary for everyone to be proficient in science and technology and have up-to-date capabilities. However, as human life develops, it also becomes increasingly chaotic, especially in the family (the bond between parents and children), where people show little respect for parents or others, and have little interest in religion or things related to God. Therefore, it is very important to provide Christian religious education regardless of time and place, whether at home, school, or places of worship. If taken seriously, Christian religious education has a significant influence on children's spiritual development at home. This study uses a qualitative research methodology, collecting data through a literature survey. This research focuses on how Christian Religious Education is implemented at home to influence children's spiritual development and help them become more Christ-like. The family is a very suitable place to shape a child's character and nurture their spiritual development.

Abstract

God justice is evident in the actions, laws, and even punishment that God gives to sinful humans. Humans must obey God by not committing evil acts. God will enforce justice against humans who do evil. Amos 2:6 explains that the Israelites had sinned repeatedly, causing God to punish Israel. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to find out an exegetical understanding of God justice based on Amos 2:6-16 which can be implied in the attitude of life of believers not to do evil deeds in the eyes of God. In writing this article, the author used a library research research method (Library Research) with a descriptive qualitative approach by interpreting (hermeneutics), exegesis (digging the Bible) and exposition (explaining the purpose and purpose of the text). The results of research on God's Justice Based on Amos 2:6-16 explain that God punished Israel for sinning against God. Israel sold the righteous and the poor for money, led the poor astray, committed adultery, rejected the prophet who conveyed God law. As people who believe in God, humans must obey and not commit sins against God. Do not sell the righteous and poor for money, do not lead the poor astray, do not commit adultery, do not serve God, and do not forget the goodness of God in life that brings salvation.
