Abstract

Solving non-routine math word problems is important to do because it will train students’ and teacher students’ creative, critical, collaborative and communicative thinking. Aims of this study are (1) to conduct developmental research to produce a product, that is, an innovative project-based learning model abbreviated as ANSARI (Auditory, Negotiation, Strategies-somatic, Administer Information, Reflection, and Interaction-communication) which is valid, practical and effective, namely the ANSARI model as a learning medium, (2) to find out its effectiveness after being trained on teacher students, teachers and students in schools as a group in solving non-routine word problems. The samples were 145 students from five high schools with different levels in Sigli City, Aceh Province, Indonesia. Data were analyzed quantitatively with One-way Anova and qualitatively to determine students' perceptions. The findings revealed that the ANSARI model has an influence in increasing teacher students’ and school students’ HOTS in the pre-test and post-test as well as students' perceptions of the learning model.

Critical thinking skills are important for students in learning and real life to face the increasingly complex challenges of the 21st century, including those related to viruses. This study aims to analyze students' critical thinking skills on the material of viruses and their roles. This research is a quantitative descriptive research. The research subjects were 70 students from two grade X classes at a Karanganyar, Central Java school, comprising 35 students. The data collection method is done through a written test. The research instrument in the form of essay questions consists of 6 questions based on aspects of critical thinking skills. The data analysis technique used Rasch analysis through the Winsteps 3.73 program. The results of the study show that there are still many students who are unable to answer critical thinking skills questions as seen based on the Wright Map and the comparison of mean logit person (-0.77) < mean logit item (0.00) in the Winsteps output. In conclusion, students' critical thinking skills on virus material are still low. Therefore, further research is needed to improve students' critical thinking skills. Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of educational game media to improve student learning outcomes in Pancasila education lessons for grade I students at Elementary School 48 Banda Aceh. This study is classified into quantitative research with a pre-experimental design method (pre-experiments design) type one group pre-test and post-test design with treatment given to only one experimental group without using a control group. This study was conducted at Elementary School 48 Banda Aceh. Data collection techniques in this study involved three main methods of testing, and documentation. The data analysis method in this study used SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) software version 21. The analysis included validity, reliability, and homogeneity tests. The normality test was carried out using the One-Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test. The analysis included the calculation of Effect Size and N-Gain, as well as hypothesis testing using the t-test. Based on the results of the study and data analysis, it can be concluded that educational game media is effective in improving student learning outcomes in the material on Pancasila symbols and principles. This can be seen from the comparison of pre-test and post-test scores on student learning outcomes, where the pre-test score of 49.63 increased significantly to 84.63 in the post-test. The results of the hypothesis test show that the t-count value is greater than the t-table, which is (2.439> 1.670). So the null hypothesis (H₀) is rejected, which means that the use of educational game media is effective in improving student learning outcomes, with an effect size value of 0.4 with a medium category at a significance level of α = 0.05.
