Abstract

The development of digital payment systems has encouraged Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to adopt the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) as a more efficient transaction method. However, its implementation in developing areas such as Bima City still faces challenges, particularly related to digital literacy and social characteristics of the community. This study aims to analyze the optimization of QRIS usage among MSMEs and examine its compliance with Islamic economic principles. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive field research design, where data are collected through observation, interviews, and documentation of MSME actors using QRIS. The results show that QRIS enhances transaction efficiency and convenience while supporting business competitiveness. However, its implementation is not yet optimal due to the dominance of cash transactions, low digital literacy, and usage disparities among age groups. From an Islamic economic perspective, QRIS usage aligns with the principles of riba-free transactions, clarity (gharar avoidance), honesty, and transparency. Nevertheless, these values are still applied practically rather than based on conceptual understanding. Therefore, efforts to improve digital literacy and strengthen awareness of Islamic economic values are needed to achieve an inclusive and equitable payment system.

Abstract

The global halal tourism industry serves as a strategic pillar that substantially contributes to Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product. Nevertheless, its development remains impeded by fundamental constraints, particularly a significant financing gap in infrastructure provision. This study aims to conceptually reconstruct the Cash Waqf Linked Deposit (CWLD) instrument to serve as an alternative legal and Islamic economic framework for financing macro-scale halal tourism infrastructure. Employing a qualitative library research approach, this study evaluates data sourced from academic journals, scholarly literature, and regulations of the Financial Services Authority through thematic analysis. The findings propose a multi-contract scheme encompassing Wadi'ah or Mudharabah Mutlaqah during the fund accumulation phase, Mudharabah Muqayyadah for project investment disbursement, and Wakalah bil Ujrah for the Nazhir. This model ensures the preservation of the waqf principal while facilitating highly cost-effective funding for developers. Furthermore, the investment yields are allocated to subsidize halal certification for local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), thereby fostering an integrated and sustainable socio-economic ecosystem within the halal value chain. As a conceptual study, this proposed model has yet to undergo empirical validation. However, the study suggests that CWLD has the potential to serve as an alternative Islamic social finance instrument for supporting halal tourism infrastructure, provided that regulatory safeguards, professional nazhir governance, and project risk mitigation mechanisms are properly established. Future empirical validation utilizing Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) or Analytic Network Process (ANP) methodologies is highly recommended to operationalize this framework.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has encouraged Islamic educational institutions, including Pesantren Mamba’ul Falah, to participate in digital entrepreneurship while maintaining Islamic ethical values and institutional traditions. This study aims to analyze the implementation of sharia economic principles in pesantren-based digital business activities and examine how the pesantren manages digital entrepreneurship within a supervised educational environment. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving pesantren leaders, administrators, and students engaged in digital business activities. The findings reveal that the implementation of sharia economic principles is reflected in honesty in digital marketing communication, trustworthiness in transaction management, fairness in pricing and customer service, and transparency in online transactions. The pesantren also attempts to avoid prohibited elements such as riba, gharar, and unethical promotional practices through institutional supervision and controlled digital access. In addition, restrictions on smartphone usage demonstrate the pesantren’s effort to balance technological adaptation with moral discipline and educational values. This study concludes that pesantren-based digital entrepreneurship represents a unique model of Islamic economic adaptation that integrates digital business practices with sharia compliance, moral education, and institutional responsibility.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have significant potential to leverage technology to expand their markets and become more competitive in the digital era. This study uses the Business Model Canvas (BMC) approach to examine MSME development strategies in the digital era within the Medan Orang Bazar Community. A descriptive qualitative research methodology was employed, and information was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The Miles and Huberman model was used to analyze the data. The results indicate that the MSME development plan within the Medan Orang Bazar Community centers on maximizing the nine components of the Business Model Canvas. Young individuals and young families active on social media constitute this customer segment, offering distinctive local goods at affordable prices and attractive packaging. The plan was developed in collaboration with local communities and influencers, and using digital platforms such as Shopee, Instagram, and TikTok. Active engagement on social media and loyalty programs maintain customer relationships. This approach demonstrates how MSMEs can utilize the Business Model Canvas as a roadmap to develop their companies creatively, effectively, and sustainably in the digital era. The findings also revealed that some MSMEs in this community inherently apply Islamic business principles, particularly in terms of offering halal products, honest promotional practices, and community-based economic empowerment (taʿawun), indicating that the BMC framework can be complemented with a sharia-based business development perspective.
