Abstract

In the era of Society 5.0, which is better known as the era of technological maturity and humanity, this era emphasizes increasing the capacity and quality of human resources (HR) in all joints, especially the use of technology. Until now, there has not been a single regulation that specifically regulates artificial intelligence. For all criminal offenses related to AI, the applicable law is ITE Law Number 1 of 2024. Issues related to misuse, legal protection efforts for victims, and law enforcement for perpetrators of misuse of AI in the form of deepfake porn are essential because it is a violation of honor and reputation. It is hoped that in the future, the public can protect themselves from the potential misuse of this technology. Therefore, to be able to comprehensively interpret how legal protection for victims of AI misuse in the form of deepfake porn is provided, analytical and in-depth research is needed regarding the legal review of the misuse of artificial intelligence in Indonesian regulations.

Abstract

The criminal policy for handling adultery offenses in Indonesia has undergone significant changes with the enactment of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP). Article 411(1) in the new KUHP expands the definition of adultery, covering not only sexual relations between a man and a woman where one or both are married but also including sexual relations outside of marriage, whether the partners are married or not. This study aims to evaluate this criminal policy by examining the legal, social, and human rights implications of the expanded definition of adultery. The methodology used in this research is normative juridical analysis with a legislative and conceptual approach. The results of the study indicate that although this policy is intended to uphold the moral and ethical values of society, the expanded definition of adultery may raise controversies related to individual privacy and the potential criminalization of consensual adult behavior. This research recommends further evaluation of the implementation of this policy, considering the balance between protecting the moral values of society and respecting human rights.

This study explores the metaphorical idea of “a finger on the trigger of destiny, which finds expression in Zora Neale Hurston’s 1937 book Their Eyes Were Watching God. In the context of interpersonal interactions and cultural expectations, the story follows Janie Crawford on her path to self-discovery and empowerment. This research describes how Janie navigates and ultimately creates her destiny through an examination of her three marriages, her search for self-identity, and the symbolic motifs of the horizon and the pear tree. The Eatonville community’s impact on path is also examined in the study. Janie is a strong example of self-determination who embraces her goals and takes charge of her life, embodying the novels larger themes of autonomy, gender, and race. This examination highlights how Hurston’s depiction of the human fight for identity and agency remains timeless. This study aims to dissect how Janie navigates her destiny amidst the pressures and constraints imposed by society, her relationships, and her inner aspirations. In this study, aim is to delve into the profound themes embedded within Hurston’s work, with a particular focus on the role of fate and agency in shaping Janie’s journey.
