Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop a spirituality-based narrative counseling model to reduce self-injurious behavior. The basis for developing this counseling model is a postmodern approach by adapting the spiritual values inherent in Islamic boarding school students. The development of a spirituality-based narrative counseling model in this research is based on the research and development model of Borg & Gall (1983) and only focuses on three main stages, including: (1) identifying students' self-injurious behavior profiles; (2) draft a hypothetical spirituality-based narrative counseling model to reduce students' self-injurious behavior; and (3) conducting an acceptability test of the model developed through one expert in the field of guidance and counseling and one Islamic boarding school counselor. The data analysis technique used in this research is quantitative and descriptive analysis. The results of the study showed that the level of self-harming behavior of Islamic boarding school students in Taman District, Sidoarjo Regency was 14.80% indicating a high level of self-injuring behavior, 59.54% a moderate level of self-injuring behavior and 30.61% a low level of self-injuring behavior. Based on the results of the analysis, a spirituality-based narrative counseling model which includes six stages is acceptable (feasible) for use by counselors in Islamic boarding schools. The results of this research can be followed up by future researchers by testing the effectiveness of spirituality-based narrative counseling to reduce self-injurious behavior in Islamic boarding school students

Abstract

This research aims to identify trends in scientific publications with the theme of Indonesian professional teachers. The research uses bibliometric analysis involving scientific publications from 1982 to 2023 in the Scopus database. The keyword we use is a professional teacher in Indonesia. The analysis results show that the trend of scientific publications with the keyword professional teacher in Indonesia has experienced a significant increase, with the peak occurring in 2020-2023. Indonesia is the country that has the highest contribution to scientific publications about Indonesian professional teacher . Wiyono, B.B. is a well-known researcher who has the most publications, while Lie, A. is a researcher who has the most total citations. Most scientific publications are in conference series, specifically in the Journal of Physics: Conference Series. The research results open up opportunities to conduct further research in areas that have not been widely researched, such as online learning communities, pedagogical content knowledge, professional development programs, professional knowledge, professional training, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), teacher learning, and teaching practicum. The research results have implications for efforts to professionalize teachers in Indonesia.

Abstract

Science learning is a lesson that studies nature and life. Science learning opens up opportunities for students to ask questions, develop new ideas, and build new skills, so this research aims to describe the implementation of STEM-PjBL, measure student creativity after implementing STEM-PjBL, and measure the influence of STEM-PjBL in science learning. This research uses a quantitative approach with the Pretest-Posttest Nonequivalent Control Group Design type. In this design, there are two groups: the experimental and the control groups. Data collection techniques use observation. The subjects used were 58 students, consisting of 28 as an experimental group and 30 as a control group. Data analysis techniques include a paired sample t-test and an independent sample t-test with a significance level of 5%. There is an increase in student creativity in the learning process. The results of the paired sample t-test show that there are significant differences in student creativity after the STEM-PjBL action in learning. The results of the independent sample t-test show that there are significant differences in STEM-PjBL actions in the learning process. STEM-PjBL has an influence on student creativity in the learning process.

Abstract

The phenomenon of phubbing, which is increasingly widespread, especially among students, is caused by excessive use of social media on smartphones. However, serious handling is needed to reduce such addictive behavior. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the level of classical guidance with live modeling techniques related to communication disorders and smartphone obsession of students in State Senior High School 1 Kencong Jember Indonesia. Using a quantitative approach and field research type with one group pretest-posttest design experiment method, the sample was determined purposively with 35 students out of 1116 populations. The instrument used in this research is a phubbing scale which has been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis used paired sample t-test. The research results showed that there were differences in students' phubbing levels before and after being given classical guidance treatment using live modeling techniques. Aspects of phubbing which include communication disturbance and smartphone dependency, both decreased significantly after being given treatment in the form of classical guidance on live modeling techniques. Counselors can use live modeling as an alternative guidance technique to reduce phubbing.

Abstract

Student academic performance as a measure of future success. Students who can develop academic performance in the classroom and outside the school are a big part of the success process. However, some children have academic insecurity problems that impact academic performance and may influence future success. Professional teachers must be able to analyze students in this condition. This research aims to analyze students' educational insecurity conditions using seven indicators—a quantitative study with a survey with random sampling on 521 students at school. The academic insecurity scale distributed to students randomly was analyzed through percentages and standard deviations with four categories: very high, high, low, and very low. The results of the research show that the average student's insecure academic condition is in a standard category on seven indicators: students do not want to get out of their comfort zone, like to compare themselves with other individuals, look down on themselves, have to get praise and recognition from other individuals, avoid interaction with the surrounding environment, experiencing failure, and lack of gratitude. Then, 54% of students have an insecure academic condition in the low category and 14% in the shallow category. Academic insecurity is also in the high category at 29% and very high at 3%. The high and very high categories require significant attention from schools and teachers at schools with exceptional handling. Professional teachers must be able to implement fair and enjoyable learning to prevent gaps who experience academic insecurity because they do not receive proper appreciation in the teaching.
