Abstract

E-learning, as a technology-based educational innovation, offers an effective solution for distance learning by utilizing Learning Management Systems (LMS). This article discusses the development of e-learning from computer-based systems to more interactive web-based applications. E-learning increases flexibility, accessibility, and student engagement. However, challenges such as technology gaps and resistance to change need to be addressed for e-learning to be effectively implemented at various levels of education. The implementation of e-learning can be an alternative to improve the quality of education with a more modern and adaptive approach.

Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive analysis of the role of e-learning as a key pillar of education system transformation in the digital era. The study covers the historical evolution of e-learning from simple computer-based systems to globally integrated Learning Management System (LMS) platforms. A comparative analysis is conducted to identify key pedagogical differences in e-learning implementation at the school and higher education levels, where student autonomy is a key differentiator. The findings indicate that while e-learning offers significant potential in flexibility, efficiency, and accessibility, its effectiveness is significantly hampered by critical challenges such as the digital divide (unstable connections) and online pedagogical issues (lack of interaction). It is concluded that optimizing educational quality, particularly at Wiralodra University, requires an implementation strategy focused on strengthening infrastructure, intensive training for lecturers in online pedagogy, and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies (such as AI and VR) to ensure an inclusive, effective, and competitive learning system.

Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive analysis of the role of e-learning as a key pillar of education system transformation in the digital era. The study begins by reviewing the evolution of e-learning from computer-based instruction systems (PLATO) to web-based Learning Management System (LMS) platforms and cloud computing. The accelerated adoption of e-learning, particularly post-COVID-19 pandemic, underscores its role in increasing the flexibility, efficiency, and accessibility of global education. A comparative analysis is conducted of e-learning implementation at the school and higher education levels, with the key finding that implementation in higher education must focus on fostering student self-regulated learning and critical thinking, in contrast to the basic focus at the school level. Despite offering great potential, the effectiveness of e-learning is hampered by serious challenges, particularly the digital divide (limited infrastructure and internet access) and online pedagogical issues (lack of interaction and learning motivation). It concludes that to optimize the quality of education, particularly at Wiralodra University, an implementation strategy is needed that focuses on strengthening inclusive infrastructure, intensive training for lecturers in online pedagogy, and the adoption of advanced technologies (such as Learning Analytics and VR/AR). These strategic steps are essential for creating an inclusive, effective, and competitive learning system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the evolution of e-learning, compare its implementation across various levels of education, and formulate strategic recommendations for optimization at Wiralodra University. Using a qualitative approach through literature review and conceptual analysis, this study traces the development of e-learning from a simple computer-based instruction system (PLATO) to a fully integrated ecosystem through a Learning Management System (LMS). The analysis shows that e-learning in higher education demands a high level of self-regulated learning (SRL) from students, with a focus on developing critical thinking and scientific specialization, distinguishing it from the goal of knowledge transfer at the school level. Although e-learning offers exceptional flexibility and accessibility, its implementation is hampered by the Digital Divide (limited infrastructure and internet access) and the Pedagogical Divide (a tendency toward transference rather than transformation in course design). As a contribution to this understanding, it is recommended that Wiralodra University adopt a proportional blended learning model and provide offline content support to address access issues. Quality optimization must be strengthened through lecturer training focused on online instructional design, as well as the integration of technologies such as Learning Analytics and VR/AR exploration to enhance personalized learning interventions and the quality of practice. This comprehensive strategy is essential to making e-Learning a hub for inclusive and effective innovation.

Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive analysis of the dynamics of e-learning in the context of higher education and its relevance to the Independent Learning Campus (MBKM) policy. The method used is a qualitative and descriptive-analytical literature review, which focuses on synthesizing data from scientific journals and academic publications. The research results identified four main pillars: (1) E-Learning development has evolved from passive CBT to an Adaptive, Mobile and Immersive model supported by AI; (2) There are significant differences in implementation, where universities emphasize autonomy, specialization, and research, in contrast to the instructional nature of schools; (3) The advantages of E-Learning lie in flexibility, cost efficiency, and increasing digital competence, while the disadvantages include infrastructure access challenges and social interaction deficits; and (4) As a contribution to Wiralodra University, it recommends a blended-flexible strategy, increasing lecturer E-Tutor competency, and diversifying digital assessments to overcome access gaps and improve learning quality. In conclusion, E-Learning is a transformative catalyst that requires inclusive pedagogy and careful risk management to optimize its full potential in producing competitive graduates in the digital era.

Abstract

Digital transformation has made e-learning an essential paradigm in higher education, offering superior flexibility (anytime, anywhere). This article aims to analyze the historical development of e-learning, compare its implementation models in schools and universities, and critically evaluate its advantages and disadvantages. This research employs a literature review with a qualitative descriptive approach and critical analysis. Data sources include reputable primary and secondary literature, collected through a structured documentation study and analyzed using narrative synthesis and content analysis to interpret pedagogical and technological concepts. E-learning has evolved from passive document transfer (1990s) to adaptive systems powered by AI and VR (2020s). Its implementation in higher education is driven by andragogy, demanding high student autonomy in analysis and exploration, in contrast to the structured school model. Key advantages include flexibility in time and the development of digital skills through learning analytics. However, critical challenges include the digital divide, the risk of social isolation, and the difficulty of managing students' intrinsic motivation due to the lack of physical supervision. Optimal implementation of e-learning in higher education must adopt a hybrid-adaptive model that integrates online sessions (for adaptive knowledge transfer) with offline/face-to-face sessions (for critical discussion and collaborative practice). Continued investment in lecturers' digital pedagogy and interactive content design is required to ensure equity of access and quality of learning.

Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive analysis of the dynamics of E-Learning in the context of higher education and its relevance to the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy. This study also analyzes the strategic initiative of the Indramayu Library and Archives Service (DPA) which launched a Website-Based E-Learning Information System as an inclusive and free community-based non-formal education program. The method used is a qualitative and descriptive-analytical literature review, which focuses on the synthesis of data from scientific journals and academic publications. The results of the study identify four main pillars: (1) The development of E-Learning has evolved from passive CBT to an AI-supported Adaptive, Mobile, and Immersive model; (2) There are significant differences in implementation, where universities emphasize autonomy, specialization, and research, in contrast to the instructional nature of schools; (3) The advantages of E-Learning lie in flexibility, cost efficiency, and increased digital competence, while its disadvantages include challenges in infrastructure access (digital divide) and deficits in social interaction; and (4) As a contribution to Wiralodra University, a blended-flexible strategy, improved lecturer e-Tutor competency, and diversified digital assessments are recommended. Overall, the success of the DPA Indramayu e-Learning system depends heavily on the DPA's ability to address ICT infrastructure challenges and continuously develop an adaptive and interactive curriculum, thus serving as an inclusive solution for enhancing community capacity in the digital age. E-Learning is a transformative catalyst that requires inclusive pedagogy and careful risk management to optimize its full potential in producing competitive graduates in the digital age.
