Abstract

To support teaching and learning activities at Akmil, many diesel-engined trucks are needed that use diesel. Considering that diesel is not a renewable resource, biodiesel is a more environmentally friendly alternative, because it is produced from vegetable or animal oil. Testing the performance of diesel engines with biodiesel and diesel at various speeds shows differences, although not significant. This can be used as a guideline in selecting fuel, especially for TNI AD vehicles, and it is hoped that biodiesel can be widely known as an alternative fuel.

Abstract

The engine capacity of a vehicle, especially a diesel engine, is greatly influenced by the fuel used, in this case the diesel used. What is meant by engine capacity is the performance produced by the engine, including the power produced by the engine, the specific fuel coefficient, and others. Therefore, choosing the right diesel will certainly make the engine able to produce good performance but diesel consumption remains efficient. So an alternative replacement is needed when the diesel runs out, one of which is using biodiesel. Biodiesel is a fuel made from base oil or renewable oil sources that are transesterified lipids into the desired ester by removing fatty acids. So biodiesel is the closest alternative to replacing fossil fuels which are the main source of transportation energy. Based on the test experiments of diesel engine performance using biodiesel and Shell diesel, namely at 2500 rpm, 2300 rpm, 2000 rpm, 1800 rpm, and 1600 rpm, there are differences in engine performance, although not significant, but can still be used as a guideline for choosing the right fuel, especially for vehicles in the Indonesian Army and if later biodiesel is known to the wider community, it can be used as an alternative fuel and can be considered to be used as fuel for diesel vehicles in the Indonesian Army.

Abstract

Analysis in this case the Indonesian Army as a national defense tool requires a strong vehicle in all fields. Especially in the vehicle engine requires a type of lubricant that suits the characteristics of the engine. So that the performance of the vehicle engine can be maximized. In addition, with the right lubricant, maintenance costs, equipment replacement costs can be more efficient and fuel consumption is more efficient. The piston is a part that always moves continuously, so that lubrication can reduce friction and reduce wear on the piston. With proper lubrication, the piston will be more durable. In this analysis, we try to find the best type of lubricant that is resistant to wear from friction. So that the type of lubricant that is suitable is obtained according to the characteristics of the engine. And knowing how resistant to wear.

Abstract

The research that I made discusses the transfer of energy sources from premium to bioethanol because the facts in the field state that the use of premium fuel is increasing, this great need is faced with threatening problems, namely as we know that premium is included in non-renewable natural resources so that one day it will run out and there are no other energy sources one day there will be a need for renewable energy sources that are abundant and have more environmentally friendly properties, for that bioethanol is the alternative that I choose. because bioethanol has many benefits compared to using gasoline, including:  More perfect combustion, exhaust gas becomes clean.More spontaneous and light traction  Smooth engine, safe for catalyst engines. Fuel efficient up to 20%  Extends engine life ,Higher octane number,Gasoline-fueled motors when filled with 80% premium + 15% Bioethanol will produce engine performance that is almost the same as being filled with premium fuel and will even produce better engine performance. so that research on the comparison of bioethanol can be developed for research, the results of which are expected to be useful for the Indonesian Army.

Abstract

The Mitsubishi 120 PS truck is one of the service vehicles at the Military Academy. This truck is frequently used to transport cadets, particularly to training areas. Given the challenging terrain cadets must navigate, including both uphill and downhill roads, an optimal and consistent braking system is required. This study aims to analyze the wear rate of the drum brake pads used in the Mitsubishi 120 PS truck. The research focuses on determining the hardness, wear rate, and carbon content of the drum brake pads of the Mitsubishi brand compared to the Indoparts brand through hardness, wear, and material composition tests. The test results showed that the hardness of Mitsubishi brake pads is 78.06 kg/mm², which is higher than Indoparts at 58.25 kg/mm². The wear rate for Mitsubishi pads is 5.79x10⁻⁴ mm³/kg.m, which is lower than Indoparts at 1.1599x10⁻³ mm³/kg.m. The carbon content in Mitsubishi pads is 35.48%, higher than Indoparts at 33.18%. This indicates that the harder the brake pad, the lower its wear rate. Therefore, Mitsubishi drum brake pads are more durable and recommended due to their higher resistance to wear.

Abstract

This research analyzes the differences in physical and mechanical properties between the firing pin of the SS1-V1, manufactured by Pindad, and the firing pin of the M16-A1, manufactured in the United States. The main focus is to determine the cause of frequent damage to the SS1-V1 firing pin, while the M16-A1 firing pin does not experience similar issues. Testing included hardness tests, microstructure analysis, and material composition analysis, showing that although both pins have similar material structures, there are significant differences in composition and design. As a result, the author recommends changes in the composition, structure, and design of the SS1-V1 firing pin to make it stronger and more durable.
