Abstract

This research is motivated by the mandate of the TNI Law Number 34 of 2004 which has been implemented by the Military Academy to play a positive role and contribute to building the nation through the management of cadets training areas. The aim of this study is to determine the joint action program of the Military Academy and the community, as well as the factors that drive and hinder them in supporting defense in Jogomulyo Village, Tempuran District, Magelang Regency. The research method used is a qualitative method with primary informants coming directly from the Head of Bagter Akmil and staff, the Village Community, Community Leaders, Village Officials, Babinsa, and Babinkamtibmas. The results of the study show that the joint action program of the Military Academy with the community in the training area of Jogomulyo Village is carried out through various activities, namely community service, academic programs, and social services. The key factor that drives the success of the program to support defense is the commitment of all Military Academy leaders to always maintain a harmonious relationship with the community through various empowerment programs to improve the welfare of the community in the cadets training area. The main obstacle factor is that there is still a perception that the Military Academy's activities are only temporary, so the village government and the community are not convinced that the joint action program of the Military Academy can help improve the welfare of the community, even though field data shows a great response and enthusiasm from the community towards these activities

Abstract

Cars that are used to travel long distances are usually driven at a fairly high speed with engine speed ranging from 2000 rpm and in a fairly long period of time. In order not to happen things that are not desirable due to the engine temperature exceeds the normal temperature of the machine when working, then this study needs to be done. In this study conducted comparative testing of engine heat dissipation rate between the use of 100% water with a mixture of 70% water and 30% radiator coolant with paired comparison method at rpm 2000. From the research, data were taken, among others, the temperature of the radiator Inlet and outlet, and the volume of radiator fluid flow (Q) which is then processed data to determine the mass flow rate (m), the specific heat of the fluid (Cp), the rate of heat dissipation radiator (q), and statistical data processing. The results of testing of a mixture of 70% water radiator fluid and 30% radiator coolant showed an average difference between the inlet temperature of the radiator with a higher radiator outlet temperature of 4.7250 C and the average heat dissipation rate of the radiator is also higher at 8.02931 kJ/s. This condition shows that at 2000 rpm, a mixture of 70% water and 30% radiator coolant has a higher engine heat absorption and dissipation capability than 100% water.

Abstract

Comfort in a vehicle usually uses an air conditioning system. AC is a type of machine that works following a thermodynamic cycle, namely the vapor compression cycle. A refrigeration machine depends on the ability of the compressor to meet the amount of refrigerant gas that needs to be circulated. The compressor is a tool for pumping cooling material (refrigerant) so that it continues to circulate in the system. The performance of the car's AC compressor is controlled by the thermostat, where the thermostat signals whether it is active or not active depending on whether the temperature in the car has been reached or not. This research includes variations in cooling load with a fixed compressor rotation of 759 RPM, each variation of cooling load is tested with a fixed compressor rotation of 759 RPM using one R-134a refrigerant to determine the COP, then this research is continued by calculating the on-off time of the compressor. to save energy used. The results of the research carried out show that the greater the cooling load, the greater the compressor inlet pressure and compressor outlet pressure (∆P = P1 – P2).

Abstract

To determine the quality of brake pads, this writing explains the method for assessing the quality of Mitsubishi and Indopart brake pads through three testing processes: Brinell hardness test, wear test, and material composition test. In the Brinell hardness test, data is obtained by creating specimens for each brake pad, and each specimen undergoes testing at 3 different points on the brake pad surface. The wear test follows a similar procedure to the hardness test, but the results are obtained using a wear testing machine. For the material composition test, the dominant elements present in the brake pads are determined using analytical chemical solutions. This allows identification of the dominant elements in both Mitsubishi and Indopart brake pads.

Abstract

The Mitsubishi 120 PS truck is one of the service vehicles at the Military Academy. This truck is frequently used to transport cadets, particularly to training areas. Given the challenging terrain cadets must navigate, including both uphill and downhill roads, an optimal and consistent braking system is required. This study aims to analyze the wear rate of the drum brake pads used in the Mitsubishi 120 PS truck. The research focuses on determining the hardness, wear rate, and carbon content of the drum brake pads of the Mitsubishi brand compared to the Indoparts brand through hardness, wear, and material composition tests. The test results showed that the hardness of Mitsubishi brake pads is 78.06 kg/mm², which is higher than Indoparts at 58.25 kg/mm². The wear rate for Mitsubishi pads is 5.79x10⁻⁴ mm³/kg.m, which is lower than Indoparts at 1.1599x10⁻³ mm³/kg.m. The carbon content in Mitsubishi pads is 35.48%, higher than Indoparts at 33.18%. This indicates that the harder the brake pad, the lower its wear rate. Therefore, Mitsubishi drum brake pads are more durable and recommended due to their higher resistance to wear.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of spark plug electrode gap variations on the performance of the Honda GL 100 105 cc engine at the PAL Akmil workshop. Combustion in a gasoline engine occurs in the combustion chamber due to the spark plug’s electrical discharge, which is influenced by the voltage difference between the central electrode and the ground electrode, as well as the electrode gap. A gap that is too small can hinder flame kernel development, leading to suboptimal combustion and reduced engine performance. The experiment was conducted using an NGK DE8A spark plug with electrode gap variations of 0.6 mm, 0.7 mm, and 0.8 mm, and engine speed variations ranging from 3000 to 9000 rpm, increasing by 1000 rpm, using a dynamometer. The results showed that the highest torque was obtained at a 0.8 mm gap at 6000 rpm, measuring 7.19 Nm, while the lowest torque was recorded at a 0.6 mm gap at 9000 rpm, measuring 4.63 Nm. The highest power output was achieved at a 0.6 mm gap at 8000 rpm, reaching 6.81 HP, while the lowest power was observed at a 0.6 mm gap at 3000 rpm, at 2.75 HP. The highest brake mean effective pressure (BMEP) was recorded at a 0.8 mm gap at 6000 rpm, measuring 1.15 kPa, whereas the lowest BMEP was observed at a 0.6 mm gap at 9000 rpm, at 0.74 kPa. The study concludes that spark plug electrode gap variations significantly affect engine performance, with the optimal gap for torque and BMEP found to be 0.8 mm.

Abstract

Gears function to transmit high power and precise rotation through interlocking teeth. Gears are superior to other transmission systems as they are more compact, capable of transmitting large power with high efficiency, and have a minimal risk of slipping. Additionally, gears can withstand higher loads and allow for speed variations as needed. One commonly used type is the bevel gear, where the pitch surface forms a cone with its apex at the intersection of the shaft axes. Straight bevel gears are the easiest to manufacture and frequently used, although they produce significant noise due to their low contact ratio. Other types of bevel gears include spiral bevel gears, helical bevel gears, and hypoid gears, each with unique characteristics and advantages in transmission systems.
