Abstract

Sexual violence that occurs to a woman and child is due to a value system that places women and children as weak and inferior beings compared to men. It is necessary to have a good legal understanding of the community regarding sexual violence so that they are able to act when experiencing sexual violence. This activity is carried out by identifying the problems that exist in the area, then the community is given an understanding in order to increase legal awareness about sexual violence against women and children. An act that can be categorized as sexual violence is when the act is carried out without consent or is not desired. The PKDRT Law, the Child Protection Law, the Criminal Code and even the Pornography Law have indeed regulated protection for victims of sexual violence against children and women, but that is not enough to protect victims, because sexual violence protection is not limited to theories and regulations but is more broadly applicable to awareness of society as a social being itself.

Abstract

Community outreach regarding sustainability of purse seine fishery aims to refresh fishers’ knowledge on the impact of purse seine on the small pelagic resources in Ambon waters. The steps of this activity were started with observation, followed by assessment on the results and continued with community outreach focusing to fishers from Laha Village, Ambon City. The catch of purse seine was composed by Sardine (Sardinella spp), Scads (Decapterus spp and Selar crumenophthalmus), and Indian Mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta). Based on the length-frequency of catch, only Indian Mackerel was categorized as undersized (the legal size is 21.7 cm). It is suggested to fishers to lively return several small fish of Indian Mackerel back to ocean. This action will provide an opportunity for the fish to reach reproduction size and reproduce sustaining its population. Fishers agreed to return the fish lively in order to sustain the population of Indian Mackerel. Therefore, monitoring to the sustainability of small pelagic fishes should be continued.

Abstract

Morphology is the science that studies the external characteristics of plants. Plant characteristics are the most important part in identifying unknown plants. Plant characteristics used in identification are leaf organs, stems, roots, flowers, fruits and seeds. Flowers are one part that can be used as a sample to identify a flower in a taxa order, family or genus. There are two ways to identify plants, namely by using floral diagrams and floral formulas. The purpose of this activity is to provide knowledge about plant identification material and plant morphology, especially identification of plants based on the morphological characteristics of flowers by illustrating flower diagrams and compiling a flower formula for a plant. This activity was given to students of SMA Negeri 7 Leihitu and SMA Negeri 1 TNS. The stages of the activity are the initial approach with the school principal regarding permission to carry out Community Service activities in the school he leads. Then delivering material on flower morphology related to identifying plants, introductory material on floral diagrams and floral formulas, preparing tools and materials, training students with several examples of questions and practice. The community service activities were carried out well, safely, smoothly, and successfully. The activity of introducing and identifying the types of flowering plants around the school through making flower diagrams and compiling flower formulas, was attended by students with feelings of joy, curiosity and enthusiasm. This can be seen from the practical results displayed by each group which demonstrates qualified science skills. Each group is considered capable of making flower diagrams and compiling flower formulas based on the flower structure of each flower.
