Abstract

The emergence of social media causes religious authorities to shift the possibility for everyone to talk about religion. On August 21, 2021, a YouTuber named Muhammad Kece was reported for blasphemy related to content he made on his Youtube channel. This study aims to determine netizens' behavior on social media, precisely the public response to the alleged Islamic blasphemy by a YouTuber named M. Kece. This research uses quantitative content analysis by the proposed project to the Drone Emprit Academic (DEA) to capture all mentions maps from Twitter conversations from September 26, 2021, until October 2, 2021. The results show that the public response toward the alleged Islamic blasphemy of Youtuber M. Kece is mostly negative rather than positive. Based on most retweet data, people are more interested in the accompaniment of M. Kece by Irjen Napoleon Bonaparte than in his blasphemy case. On the other hand, the tweet is about the person who tries to drag Ust. Abdul Somad, in that case, is the most favorite tweet. Then, followed by the case of blasphemy committed by M. Kece precisely about who M. Kece is. It shows that the case of the alleged Islamic blasphemy of Youtuber M. Kece is complicated and complex because it was religion followed by another case. Irjen Napoleon's accompaniment to him. Thus, be wise in social media as a consumer or a content creator, especially about religion.

Abstract

This study investigates the perspectives of Islamic Religious Education students at UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi regarding online learning through Zoom. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected from ten students through open-ended questionnaires. The findings reveal that while students appreciated the flexibility, time efficiency, and accessibility provided by Zoom, they also experienced challenges such as unstable internet connections, reduced interaction, emotional fatigue, and diminished spiritual engagement. Understanding of course materials varied among students, with some benefiting from flexible access to content, while others struggled with abstract and value-based lessons. Ethical issues, including discipline and sincerity, were also affected in the online environment. Despite these challenges, many students remained motivated by personal goals and lecturer support. The study highlights that Zoom facilitates certain aspects of learning but cannot fully replace the depth of spiritual, ethical, and interpersonal connections inherent in traditional Islamic education. Students offered valuable suggestions for improving online learning, emphasizing the need for more interactive teaching methods and better infrastructure support. These insights underscore the importance of designing spiritually responsive and pedagogically engaging online religious education environments.

Abstract

The Qur'an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad with various readings. Although, on the one hand, this difference makes it easier for Muslims to recite the Qur'an, on the other hand, in some cases, the difference in reading influences the difference in meaning. One of the differences lies in the verses about jurisprudence issues, where the differences in the readings influence the legal interpretation. This article will discuss the problem of the consistency of Imam asy-Syāfi'ī's recitations in legal istinbat. By using a content analysis knife accompanied by the science of qiraat approach, the results of this research explain that in the problem of qiraat or recitation of the Qur'an, Imam asy-Syāfi'ī used the qiraat of Imam Ibn Kaṡīr with a history of erroneous readings from al-Qasṭanṭin. However, Imam asy-Syāfi'ī's choice of qiraat does not make him consistent with the qiraat in the legal sense. He sometimes uses other recitations in legal interpretation where the choice of Imam asy-Syāfi'ī is only in the optional realm and not in the realm of preference because all recitations are considered correct as long as they are connected to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ Differences in recitations that bring influence to differences in meaning such as pronunciation.

Abstract

The Qur’anic sciences (Ulumul Qur’an) represent a fundamental branch of Islamic scholarship that serves as the foundation for understanding the meaning and message of the Qur’an comprehensively. This study aims to critically analyze the basic concepts, scope, and historical development of Ulumul Qur’an from the classical to the contemporary period. Using a qualitative approach and library research method, this paper examines primary and secondary sources such as the works of al-Zarkasyi, al-Suyuthi, and modern scholars who discuss the epistemology of Qur’anic studies. The findings reveal that Ulumul Qur’an has undergone a significant evolution both terminologically and methodologically. In the early Islamic period, it developed through oral and traditional transmission by the companions and successors. During the codification era, numerous systematic works emerged, laying the foundations of Qur’anic sciences as an independent discipline. In the modern era, Ulumul Qur’an continues to expand through interdisciplinary approaches involving linguistics, history, and hermeneutics, aiming to address contemporary issues faced by Muslim societies. This study concludes that understanding the development of Qur’anic sciences is essential for strengthening the epistemological framework of Islamic scholarship and for developing interpretative methodologies relevant to modern contexts. Hence, this research contributes to enriching the academic discourse on Islamic studies through a critical exploration of the conceptual and historical dynamics of Ulumul Qur’an.

Abstract

This research examines the ecological liberation theology of Asghar Ali Engineer as a paradigm for ecological restoration in Indonesia. Indonesia faces severe ecological crises including deforestation, agrarian conflicts, and climate change impacts that disproportionately affect marginalized communities. This library research employs Engineer's liberation theology framework to reinterpret the Exodus narrative as an ecological liberation paradigm. The study analyzes Engineer's key principles—social tawhid, liberation of the oppressed (mustadh'afin), distributive justice, and praxis-oriented theology—and applies them to Indonesia's ecological context. The research finds that the Exodus narrative, read through Engineer's lens, provides a transformative paradigm where Pharaoh represents exploitative economic systems, enslaved Israel people symbolizes exploited nature and communities, the wilderness represents ecological transition, and the Promised Land embodies a vision of ecological justice. This paradigm offers concrete implications for interfaith solidarity, agrarian reform, and community empowerment movements in Indonesia. The study contributes to contextual theology by bridging Islamic liberation theology with ecological concerns in the Indonesian context. Abstract

This research examined the conformity of child custody transactions with the concept of wadi’ah in Islamic economic law. The demand for child custody increased, but wadi’ah required deposits in the form of goods, not living beings who possessed rights and dignity like children. A normative juridical method was used to analyze the principles of classical Islamic law and modern child custody practices involving contracts, fees, and security guarantees. The study’s results showed that children could not be treated as objects of deposit in wadi’ah because they had fundamental rights. Therefore, child custody transactions were more appropriately studied through other sharia contracts such as ijarah (service leasing) or wakalah (representation). This research highlighted the ethical and legal dilemmas implicitly related to the commodification of children in current practices. It also emphasized the importance of a legal framework that safeguarded the rights and dignity of children while providing protection for parents, as well as accommodating the social needs of child care services according to sharia principles. These findings enriched the discourse between social needs and Islamic economic ethics.

Abstract

Islam Nusantara is often understood as an expression of Islam that is accommodative to local culture, but studies that systematically place it within the theological framework of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah (Aswaja) are still relatively limited. This article aims to analyze Islam Nusantara from the perspective of Aswaja by emphasizing the dialectic between aqidah, tradition, and local culture in the Islamic practices of Indonesian society. This study uses a qualitative approach through conceptual analysis and literature review of relevant classical and contemporary sources. The results of the study show that Aswaja functions as a theological and methodological foundation that enables the integration of pure aqidah and acceptance of local traditions through the principles of tawassuth (moderation), tawazun (balance), i'tidal (justice), and tasamuh (tolerance). This synergy shapes the character of Islam Nusantara, which is contextual, inclusive, and adaptive to socio-cultural realities without obscuring the basic principles of Islamic teachings. This article emphasizes that Islam Nusantara based on Aswaja is not only relevant as a model of cultural da'wah, but also contributes significantly to building socio-religious coexistence and strengthening the discourse of moderate Islam in Indonesia's pluralistic society.

Abstract

Cancel culture on social media in Indonesia has developed rapidly and presents significant ethical challenges, as it can lead to social pressure, public humiliation, and damage to individual reputations, while simultaneously serving as a constructive mechanism for social control. The viral case of a TikTok user named Jule illustrates how public opinion can spread rapidly and influence societal perceptions. The academic concern arises from the limited research linking cancel culture practices with Islamic communication ethics, particularly the prohibition against mocking, belittling, or ridiculing others as stated in QS. Al-Hujurāt: 11 . This study employs a library research method by analyzing classical exegeses (Al-Ṭabarī, Ibn Katsīr) and contemporary interpretations (Quraish Shihab, Hamka), alongside an examination of viral digital communication practices, to interpret the application of the Digital Communication Ethics concept in social media contexts. The findings indicate that cancel culture can be ethically constructive if implemented proportionally, based on verified facts, and aimed at corrective purposes, while maintaining human dignity. Ethical practice emphasizes education, reflection, and accountability rather than mere punishment or public humiliation. These results underscore the relevance of Qur’anic values as a normative foundation for responsible, just, and dignified digital communication, while providing an ethical framework for academics and the public to evaluate and manage online interactions effectively
