Abstract

Indonesian Muslim society observes a distinctive annual tradition known as "Halal bi halal," which is closely linked to the celebration of Eid al-Fitr following the fasting month of Ramadan in the month of Shawwal. This communal activity is found to be beneficial for participants. The primary aim of this research is to explore the semiotic perspective, unveiling the meanings conveyed through signs and symbols embedded in this tradition. The findings of the data analysis are presented descriptively, using a qualitative approach. The outcomes reveal two key aspects: (1) the use of the respectful speech level, and politeness when addressing older individuals, and (2) the inherent meanings within the tradition, specifically centered around the notions of respect and the promotion of harmony in life. In conclusion, the "Halal bi halal" tradition is intentionally crafted to safeguard the most valuable cultural values in society through the strategic use of signs and symbols.

Abstract

Psychological research often involves the object of human study. Meanwhile, not many psychological studies have focused on human objects in fiction. For this reason, the aim of this research is to explore aspects of human psychology in fiction, from Sigmund Freud's perspective. The research method uses a qualitative paradigm. The research data is in the form of discourse text which represents psychology. The data source is the Storytelling Sea Novel by Leila Salikha Chudori 42nd printing, issue of 2022. The results of the research show that the Storytelling Sea Novel represents three aspects of psychoanalysis: id, ego, and superego. The psychoanalytic aspect is dominated by the character Biru Laut, as the main character. The id aspect represents the main character's pure personality, without any external influences. Likewise the main character's ego, which is not influenced by external factors. The superego is influenced by social and family conditions. The three aspects of psychoanalysis are dominated by the superego aspect, this can be seen from the behavior and thought patterns of the Biru Laut characters which are dominated by social factors that influence them. Thus, id and ego are not always affected by external factors. Meanwhile, the superego still involves external influences as a subconscious driving factor for human attitudes. The implication of this research is that psychoanalytic classification turns out not only to the reality of life, but also to the reality of fiction. Apart from that, the implication of this research is to increase and develop interest in literary works in the form of reading such as novels, poetry and short stories so that it can broaden readers' insight regarding matters relating to literature. Abstract

This research is an attempt to investigate social class differences in terms of economic status, educational status, and employment status. The method used in this research is qualitative research method. The data source used is the motivational book Tak Apa-Apa Tak Jadi Apa-Apa by Mulasih Tary published by Checklist Book in 2021. Data were collected using content analysis techniques. The findings of this study are in the form of social class differences. The data that has been obtained is processed again inductively through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Through a motivational book, the author presents a discourse about not being fixated on the success of others and not always comparing ourselves to the achievements of others, the most important thing is that we must be able to learn to accept ourselves, embrace ourselves, and bring ourselves to a happier path. This book illustrates the importance of self-motivation and not always looking at the success of others that can make ourselves feel like failures in living life. The results of this study are in the form of social class differences, including economic status, educational status, and employment status, which are still the benchmark for a person's existence in society. In the future, it is hoped that it will no longer reveal social class differences so as not to cause social problems.

Abstract

Literary work is a work of art containing the imagination of the author so as to produce a work that can be felt by connoisseurs of literature. Literary works in the form of novels contain life values such as moral values, social values, educational values, and include the value of friendship to be learned. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to describe the values of friendship in the novel 5 Cm by Donny Dhirgantoro and to find the relevance to the learning of literature in high school. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with literary sociology approach. The data source of this research is the novel 5 Cm by Donny Dhirgantoro with a total of 382 pages and the data used are quotes or sentences containing friendship values. The data collection technique used is reading and recording technique by identifying friendship values, collecting data, and making conclusions based on the data that has been obtained. The results of the study show that there is a value of friendship in the novel 5 Cm by Donny Dhirgantoro which consists of the value of mutual understanding, the value of trust, the value of cooperation, the value of loyalty, and the value of honesty. The value of mutual understanding includes several indicators such as mutual understanding, respect, and forgiveness. The value of trust includes indicators of hard work and confidence. The value of cooperation includes indicators of helping each other, reminding each other, and hard work. The value of loyalty includes indicators of caring. Finally, the value of honesty includes indicators of having the courage to admit mistakes and convey something according to the situation.

Abstract

Every individual is created with all needs that must be realized, one of which is the need for affection. Representations of affection can be seen in novel literary works through figures created by the author so that readers can learn values ​​or lessons. This research aims to describe the value of affection and their relevance to the need for affection in Maslow's hierarchy of needs in the behavior of characters in the novel Jilbab Traveler Love Sparks in Korea by Asma Nadia. The author uses a qualitative descriptive type of research with the research object focused on the values ​​of compassion using a literary psychology approach. The data used is in the form of text, quotations or words related to the values ​​of love sourced from the novel Jilbab Traveler Love Sparks in Korea by Asma Nadia. The data was collected using reading and note-taking techniques. The validity of the data was carried out through a credibility test using triangulation techniques. The author searches for and groups data related to the value of affection through the data reduction stage, namely by summarizing the main things to get a clearer picture of the object, presenting the data by describing and classifying the data according to the main problem in the form of a description of the value of affection to facilitate the interpretation stage. , and the verification or conclusion drawing stage is carried out by comparing the conformity between the statements of the research object and the meaning contained in the research data so that results are obtained in the form of a description of the entire research content. The results of the research show that there are values ​​of love in the characters in the form of devotion, help, kinship, loyalty and caring related to fulfilling the need for love according to Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the prevalence of violence against women, which is a significant factor contributing to their suffering. The purpose of this study is to describe the various forms of suffering experienced by female characters in the novel "Romansa 2 Benua" by Pipiet Senja. The author uses a descriptive qualitative method with a feminist literary criticism approach. The primary data source is the novel "Romansa 2 Benua" by Pipiet Senja, which consists of 223 pages, and the data includes dialogues, paragraphs, or sentences that depict the suffering of female characters. This novel was chosen because it contains a female character who experiences a lot of suffering due to the actions of men, so it can be used as an object of research. Data collection techniques involve reading and note-taking, followed by analysis through identifying the forms of suffering experienced by female characters, categorizing them, and drawing conclusions or verifying the obtained data. The study reveals that the suffering experienced by female characters in the novel "Romansa 2 Benua" includes physical suffering, psychological suffering, and sexual suffering.

Abstract

The development of literature in the age of information technology is very rapid. Literature that appears on the internet is called cyber literature or cyberliterature. The novel Hello Cello by Nadia Ristivani is one of the novels that started from cyberliterature. In the goodreads cybersastra community, Nadia Ristivani's novel Hello Cello received a rating of 4.42/5 with 200 reviews. The high rating obtained by the Hello Cello novel is the reason for researchers to research how readers respond to the novel. The researcher used fifteen data taken from the goodreads cyberliterature community. Of the thirteen data, the researcher obtained six responses to the main characters in the novel. Five readers' responses to the novel's plot. Four readers' responses to Nadia Ristivani's Hello Cello as a novel adaptation of Twitter's alternate universe. Based on the data obtained, the researcher concluded that the novel Hello Cello by Nadia Ristivani has a strong and dominating character so that it can bring the feelings of the readers in it, then this novel has a mixed plot, where the plot is slow at the beginning but fast at the end and has a good narrative for an alternate universe adaptation novel. Nadia managed to write a good narrative and make the reader satisfied when reading it.

Abstract

The moral decline of Indonesian teenagers is a critical problem that must be faced and a solution must be found so that morality, which is the nation's identity, can remain. The role of Indonesian youth for the country's progress in the future is very important. If their souls do not have morality, then the state cannot have good and responsible leaders. The existence of literary works is a medium for authors to convey values such as moral values. Literary works can be a weapon to instill character education in their readers. One of the literary works in the form of a novel entitled Bukan Salah Hujan by Ummuchan contains moral values that can be considered. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to describe the morality contained in the novel Bukan Salah Hujan (BSH) by Ummuchan using moral analysis according to Burhan Nurgiyantoro. This type of research is qualitative and the method used is descriptive. The source of data for this research is the novel Bukan Salah Hujan (BSH) by Ummuchan which totals 226 pages. The data analysis method used is descriptive analytics and the techniques are reading, listening, taking notes, and interpretation. The results of the research obtained consist of three forms of moral values, namely: (1) human relationships with themself, including self-confidence, patience, admitting mistakes, and hard work; (2) human relationships with other human beings, including affection, help, and reciprocity; and (3) human relationship with God, including grateful.

Abstract

This research examines the meaning of heuristics, hermeneutics and social criticism in the book A Collection of Poems on Heroes and Mouse by A. Mustofa Bisri, using a qualitative descriptive method with Michael Riffaterre's semiotic approach. The research data comes from heuristic and hermeneutic analysis of six poems in this book, namely "Sun Red Padam," "Earth is Confused," "When God," "Forward Undaunted," "Heroes," and "Rats." Research findings show that each poem contains deep meaning related to themes of humanity, social justice and struggle. The poem "When God" highlights the complexity of humans as caliphs on earth, describing the potential for good and bad that angels do not fully understand. The poems "Rats" and "Bumi Confused" criticize greed and environmental damage caused by humans. Meanwhile, “Forward Without Fear” and “Heroes” emphasize the importance of courage in fighting injustice. Ultimately, “Sun Merah Padam” reflects suffering and disappointment but still radiates hope for change. The results of this research enrich understanding of the relevance of social and humanitarian criticism in poetry, as well as the importance of heuristic and hermeneutic aspects in understanding the layers of meaning within it

Abstract

This study is grounded in a desire to explore the portrayal of women in Indonesian literature, specifically through Maman Suherman's novel Re dan Perempuan. This novel serves as a compelling subject of study due to its complex and nuanced depiction of female characters, which reflects various issues, roles, identities, and the societal position of women. This research aims to describe and classify the image of women in the novels "Re dan Perempuan" by Maman Suherman. The study employs a descriptive analysis method using a literature review of data comprising quotes from dialogues, paragraphs, and the thoughts of characters that define the image of women in the main characters of the novel. The results of this study identify four aspects of the image of women: 1) physical aspect, 2) psychological aspect, 3) family aspect, and 4) societal aspect. In the physical aspect, "Re" is portrayed as a child undergoing puberty into adulthood, with natural beauty. In the psychological aspect, "Re" is depicted as someone with personal experiences in facing and understanding inner conflicts experienced since childhood, showcasing mature traits. In the family aspect, "Re" is illustrated as a gentle mother who showers Melur with endless affection. Melur is portrayed as a smart child, holding an MBA and a Doctorate from a university in Tokyo, Japan, demonstrating that a child born from a prostitute can also achieve high education and study abroad. In the societal aspect, "Re" is shown to open up to a man named Maman and become more connected with her child
