Abstract

This research aims to identify the forms and delve into the symbolic meanings of traditional expressions (tampu tangari) within the Kulisusu community in Jampaka Village, Kulisusu District, North Buton Regency, as a means of cultural communication and social control. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach with Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis, this study gathered data through observation, indepth interviews with nine informants, and documentation. The results indicate that tampu tangari manifests as signs constructed through words utilizing natural elements and human anatomy as signifiers. At the denotative level, these expressions carry literal meanings corresponding to the mentioned objects; however, at the connotative level, profound symbolic meanings are found containing moral messages such as praise for work ethics, subtle satire for negative behavior, advice on life wisdom, and an instrument for monitoring behavior to maintain group harmony. Meanwhile, at the myth level, these expressions function as a cultural ideology that naturalizes customary rules into absolute truths collectively believed by the community.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic strategic management in increasing the participation of members and bikers at the Regional Jamboree event of the Honda Megapro Club (HMPC) Sumatra. This research is motivated by the importance of applying Islamic values in community organization management to enhance member involvement and participation in organizational activities. Islamic strategic management in this study includes the functions of planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling based on the values of deliberation (musyawarah), trustworthiness (amanah), justice, and Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah). This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with HMPC Sumatra administrators and members, observation during the Regional Jamboree event, and supporting documentation. Data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the implementation of Islamic strategic management plays a significant role in increasing the participation of members and bikers at the HMPC Sumatra Regional Jamboree. The value of deliberation is applied in decision-making processes, trustworthiness is reflected in task distribution among committee members, and ukhuwah strengthens solidarity among members and chapters. Supporting factors include management commitment, effective communication, and organizational solidarity. However, challenges remain, such as time limitations and varying levels of participation among chapters. Overall, Islamic strategic management has proven effective in enhancing member and biker participation in organizational activities

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of the Ta’limul Muta’allim book in shaping the Islamic character of students at Sabilul Hasanah Islamic Boarding School. The Ta’limul Muta’allim book is a classical Islamic text that contains ethical guidelines in seeking knowledge, which are highly relevant in forming students' personalities. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation involving caregivers, teachers, and students at the Islamic boarding school. The results show that the Ta’limul Muta’allim book plays a significant role in shaping students' Islamic character, such as humility (tawadhu), discipline, respect for teachers, sincerity in seeking knowledge, and responsibility in daily life. The implementation of this book is carried out through regular learning sessions, role modeling by teachers, and daily habituation within the boarding school environment. In addition, the values contained in the book strengthen the spiritual and moral aspects of students, forming individuals with noble character.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the perspective that film can serve as an effective medium for conveying da’wah messages, as it can be easily received by the public. The film Cinta Subuh is one example that has inspired many people. Through film as a medium, da’wah messages can be delivered without significant limitations. The problem formulation in this study is: what are the da’wah messages contained in the film Cinta Subuh produced by Falcon Pictures? The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the da’wah messages presented in the film Cinta Subuh by Falcon Pictures. This study employs a qualitative research approach. There are two types of data sources used: primary data, consisting of audio and visual elements found in the film, and secondary data, including books, theses, journal articles, and other relevant literature. Data collection techniques include documentation and observation of the film Cinta Subuh. The data analysis technique uses descriptive analysis through John Smith’s interactive model, which consists of: (1) the level of reality, including appearance codes and environmental codes, and (2) the level of representation, which focuses on character codes.The results of the study show that the film Cinta Subuh contains da’wah messages in three aspects. First, the message of Aqidah, such as the importance of reading the Qur’an to calm the heart. Second, the message of Sharia, demonstrated through the importance of performing prayers on time. Third, the message of Akhlaq, reflected in the characters’ behavior, such as advising one another in goodness.

Abstract

The decline in regional language use among younger generations poses a serious threat to the preservation of local cultural identity. This study aims to examine the utilization of Instagram social media in Minang language content production, forms of user collaboration, and its impact on Minang language preservation in digital spaces. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method on the @Ota_Lapau Instagram account. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with four informants consisting of the account owner, social media admin, collaborating content creator, and active follower, as well as observation and documentation. Data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman model with stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Media Ecology Theory was employed as the analytical foundation to understand how Instagram as a medium shapes the production and dissemination of Minang language content. The research findings indicate that the @Ota_Lapau account strategically utilizes Instagram by implementing the three-pillar philosophy in content production packaged in an entertaining manner. User collaboration occurs through structured mechanisms with a mutually beneficial profit-sharing system between account managers and content creators. The impact on language preservation is evident from the formation of digital documentation, informal learning, positive perces0ption changes toward Minang language, and cross-geographical reach expansion with 48.000.000 viewers achieved within three months. The study concludes that Instagram plays a significant role as a medium for regional language preservation in the digital era through content adaptation aligned with platform characteristics and sustainable collaboration.

Abstract

This study is entitled School as an Arena of Conflict: Social Criticism in the Film Pengepungan di Bukit Duri.” This research employs a descriptive qualitative research method. Pengepungan di Bukit Duri is a film that represents the reality of social conflicts occurring within the school environment. The purpose of this study is to identify the forms of social criticism and to analyze how schools are represented as arenas of conflict in the film. This study uses a qualitative approach with documentation techniques for data collection. The documentation technique involves collecting data in the form of scenes, dialogues, and plot elements in the film that relate to conflict and social criticism. The data analysis technique applied in this research is Roland Barthes semiotic analysis, which divides meaning into denotation, connotation, and myth. The results of this study indicate that there are several forms of social conflict depicted in the film, including interpersonal conflict, intergroup conflict, and structural conflict within the school environment. The film portrays the school as an arena of conflict characterized by power imbalances, violence, weak protection for teachers, and failures in the educational system. This shows that film functions not only as a medium of entertainment but also as a medium for conveying messages and social criticism of realities occurring in society.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan perilaku komunikasi generasi X dalam penggunaan facebook di Desa Aleuti, Kecamatan Padangguni, Kabupaten Konawe serta untuk memahami bagaimana generasi X memanfaatkan media sosial facebook dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan analisis teori S-O-R dan Uses and Grafitations, teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi partisipan, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian yaitu masyarakat generasi X pengguna aktif facebook di Desa Aleuti, Kecamatan Padangguni, Kabupaten Konawe. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perubahan nyata dalam pola interaksi sosial, di mana penggunaan facebook telah memicu pergeseran signifikan dari komunikasi tatap muka langsung menuju interaksi digital yang lebih intensif. Perubahan perilaku ini ditandai dengan berkurangnya intensitas silaturahmi fisik karena masyarakat kini lebih mengandalkan fitur pesan, komentar, dan unggahan status untuk berkomunikasi tanpa batasan geografis. Secara psikologis, platform ini mengubah sikap pengguna menjadi lebih berani dan terbuka dalam mengekspresikan diri dibandingkan saat berinteraksi secara langsung. Namun, di sisi lain, ditemukan bahwa Generasi X merupakan khalayak aktif yang mampu mengalihfungsikan facebook sebagai instrumen produktif. Mereka tidak hanya menggunakan platform sebagai media hiburan, tetapi juga memanfaatkannya untuk pemberdayaan ekonomi melalui promosi produk serta pencarian informasi yang relevan dengan kebutuhan hidup mereka. Abstract

This research discusses the representation of investigative journalism practice in the film Scoop, with a focus on how the journalistic work process is constructed through stages such as forming, initial research and observations, determining angles and hypotheses, planning execution strategies, and preparing post-publication scenarios. This film was chosen because it shows the practice of investigative journalism comprehensively, not only as a process of gathering information, but also as an arena involving ethical considerations, institutional pressures, and power relations between the media and sources. This research uses a qualitative approach with Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis method through the stages of denotation, connotation, and myth to interpret symbols, narratives, dialogue, and visual expressions that represent the practice of investigative journalism. Stuart Hall's representation theory is used as the main framework to understand how the meaning of journalism is formed in films, while the concept of investigative journalism is used to strengthen analysis of the media's work process in revealing facts and building public reality. Interpretative-descriptive methodology is applied through observation of key scenes that reflect the stages of journalistic work, from planning to publication. The research results show that investigative journalism is represented as a systematic, collaborative and strategic practice. At the denotative level, the film shows activities such as editorial meetings, team assignments, in-depth research, negotiations with sources, and an intense interview process. At the connotative level, this practice means that investigative journalism is a profession full of pressure, requiring precision, courage and effective communication skills. Meanwhile, at the mythical level, the film builds the ideology that investigative journalism acts as a watchdog journalism whose aim is to demand accountability and voice the public interest.

Abstract

Tradisi Mowindahako merupakan prosesi sakral dalam pernikahan adat suku Tolaki yang kaya akan simbol dan nilai-nilai filosofis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan makna komunikasi simbolik yang terkandung dalam tradisi Mowindahako di Desa Awua Jaya, Kecamatan Asinua, Kabupaten Konawe. Fokus utama penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami bagaimana simbol-simbol verbal maupun non-verbal dalam tradisi tersebut dimaknai oleh masyarakat sebagai instrumen legalitas, etika, dan identitas budaya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung, wawancara mendalam dengan tokoh adat, kepala desa, dan masyarakat setempat, serta dokumentasi terkait. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan teori semiotika Roland Barthes yang membedah tanda melalui tiga tingkatan makna: denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa makna komunikasi simbolik dalam Mowindahako tercermin melalui keberadaan fisik benda-benda adat (Puuno o’sara) serta tahapan Sara Peana dan tuturan adat (Sara Meparamesi) sebagai syarat sah pernikahan. Penggunaan bahasa perumpamaan dalam tuturan tersebut mengandung nilai etika berkomunikasi, sementara simbol kebendaan seperti kain putih, kerbau, gong, dan kalung emas merupakan wujud tanggung jawab laki-laki serta bentuk penghormatan tertinggi terhadap perempuan. Lebih jauh, prosesi ini membentuk kepercayaan kolektif masyarakat bahwa kesempurnaan alat dan tata cara adat merupakan penentu keharmonisan serta keberkahan hidup bagi pasangan di masa depan. Ketidakpatuhan terhadap detail ritual diyakini dapat mendatangkan sanksi adat (mate sara) maupun ketidakharmonisan, sehingga Mowindahako berfungsi sebagai instrumen komunikasi vital dalam menjaga keseimbangan tatanan sosial masyarakat Tolaki.
