Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is a key strategy to improve child health and nutrition, yet its practice in Indonesia remains suboptimal. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between husbands’ knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding and mothers’ motivation to breastfeed in Ie Masen Kayee Adang Village, Syiah Kuala District, Banda Aceh City. Using a cross-sectional design, data were collected from 50 husbands whose wives were breastfeeding infants aged 0–12 months through questionnaires distributed directly and via Google Form. The instrument’s validity and reliability were tested and met the required standards. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that most husbands had a high level of knowledge (68%), and most mothers demonstrated high motivation to breastfeed (64%). The Chi-Square analysis indicated a significant relationship between husbands’ knowledge and mothers’ motivation (p = 0.039). These findings suggest that involving husbands as active partners in health promotion and breastfeeding education programs can increase maternal motivation and improve exclusive breastfeeding practices. This study highlights the importance of family-centered interventions to strengthen breastfeeding support and enhance maternal and child health outcomes.

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy remains a significant public health challenge, with iron supplementation recommended as the primary preventive strategy. However, compliance with iron tablet consumption among pregnant women continues to be low in many settings. This study aims to review existing literature to identify barriers that hinder adherence to iron supplementation. A systematic literature review was conducted by screening publications from 2015 to 2025, retrieved from major databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect. Thematic synthesis was applied to analyze findings across selected studies. Results revealed three major categories of barriers: internal factors such as limited knowledge, perceived low risk of anemia, and side effects; social factors including lack of family support, cultural norms, and insufficient counseling from health providers; and systemic factors such as limited supplement availability and inadequate quality of antenatal services. These findings highlight that compliance is not merely an individual issue but also shaped by social and structural contexts. Implications suggest the need for multidimensional interventions, involving health education, family engagement, and strengthened health system support to improve maternal adherence to iron supplementation.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most prevalent non-communicable diseases and a major contributor to cardiovascular complications among the elderly. This study aimed to provide a comprehensive nursing care intervention for Mrs. K, a hypertensive patient living with her family in Purwodadi Village, Tonjong District, Brebes Regency. The method employed was a case study with a family-centered nursing approach involving assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through interviews, observation, documentation, and literature review. The results showed improvements in the patient's blood pressure, increased knowledge and awareness in the family, and positive changes in health-related behaviors. Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease that primarily affects the musculoskeletal system and often causes severe pain and functional limitations, especially among the elderly. This study aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of nursing care for a patient diagnosed with RA through a family-based approach. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with a case study design conducted in a rural village in Brebes, Central Java. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the integration of non-pharmacological interventions, including warm compresses using ginger and lemongrass, and deep breathing techniques, significantly reduced pain intensity. Additionally, increased family involvement in caregiving, facilitated by structured health education, enhanced the patient's quality of life. This study confirms the importance of applying Dorothea Orem’s Self-Care Deficit Theory to support the independence and well-being of RA patients within their home environments. The findings suggest that community nurses should prioritize family empowerment in chronic disease management, particularly in areas with limited health access.

Abstract

Post-cesarean section (SC) patients with premature rupture of membranes (PROM) require comprehensive nursing care due to their high risk of pain, infection, and limited mobility. This case study aims to describe the nursing care process applied to a 39-year-old woman post-SC with PROM indication. The study was conducted over five days in Nusa Indah Room at RSUD dr. Soeselo, Tegal. Data collection included interviews, observation, physical examination, and medical record review. The nursing interventions were guided by the Indonesian Nursing Diagnosis Standards (SDKI), Interventions (SIKI), and Outcomes (SLKI). Results showed a reduction in pain scale from 6 to 2, improved mobility, and wound healing without signs of infection or bleeding. These findings indicate that structured and holistic nursing care, combined with patient education and family involvement, can significantly enhance recovery outcomes. The implications suggest the need for clinical protocols in managing post-SC patients with PROM to ensure consistent, evidence-based nursing practice.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder characterized by cognitive, emotional, and behavioral disturbances that may lead to aggressive behavior. Violent behavior risk is one of the most common nursing diagnoses in paranoid schizophrenia patients, which can endanger themselves, others, and the environment. This study aimed to describe psychiatric nursing care for a patient with the main problem of violent behavior risk due to paranoid schizophrenia at Arimbi Ward, RSJD dr. Amino Gondohutomo, Central Java Province. A descriptive case study design was applied, involving data collection through interviews, observation, documentation review, and literature study. The nursing process included assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Nursing interventions provided included pharmacological therapy, family psychoeducation, and group activity therapy. After the interventions, the patient showed decreased frequency of anger, improved cooperation with nurses, and willingness to participate in group activities. These findings highlight the importance of comprehensive psychiatric nursing care that integrates medical treatment and psychosocial interventions to reduce violent behavior risk in schizophrenic patients and to promote recovery and reintegration into the community.

Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy is a major health problem that increases maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality, thus requiring prompt and appropriate management. This study aimed to describe nursing care for Mrs. D, a 19-year-old primigravida with anemia in the Nusa Indah Ward of RSUD dr. Soeselo, Tegal Regency. The method used was a case report with data collected through interviews, direct observation, and medical record review during hospitalization from January 13–15, 2025. Assessment results showed a hemoglobin level of 6.5 g/dL with clinical signs of pallor, cold extremities, tachycardia, and complaints of dizziness and weakness. The nursing diagnoses established were ineffective peripheral perfusion and risk for nutritional deficit. Interventions included monitoring vital signs, providing nutritional education, administering iron and folic acid supplements, and collaborating on blood transfusion. Evaluation indicated both subjective and objective improvement, and the nursing problems were resolved. In conclusion, comprehensive and collaborative nursing care contributed to the improvement of the patient’s condition with pregnancy-related anemia.
