Abstract

Reinforced concrete is a construction that is vulnerable to damage during an earthquake if not done properly. This article focuses on the results of field observations after the earthquake disaster in Lombok and Palu in 2018, with the aim of identifying the type of damage that occurred in reinforced concrete buildings. This identification is important to understand the potential causes of damage and/or collapse in reinforced concrete buildings. The results of field observations show that low concrete quality and lack of standard reinforcement detailing processes are the main factors contributing to the large number of buildings experiencing damage and/or collapse during the earthquake. Poor quality concrete, such as a mismatch in the mix or a lack of strength, can make a structure brittle and unable to withstand excessive earthquake forces. Apart from that, lack of attention to the reinforcement detailing process is also a cause of significant damage. Non-standard reinforcement detailing includes a lack of the required amount of reinforcement in the structure, installation of shear reinforcement that does not meet the requirements, and a lack of shear reinforcement at beam and column connections. Lack of reinforcement in structural connections reduces the strength and stiffness of the structural system, thereby increasing the risk of collapse during an earthquake. The location and method of installing brick walls is also one of the factors causing building damage. Through analysis of the results of these observations, it can be concluded that good quality concrete and the process of detailing reinforcement and brick walls according to standards are very important to reduce damage and increase the resistance of reinforced concrete structures to earthquakes. Proper implementation of structural design specifications and careful monitoring during construction can help reduce the risk of damage caused by earthquakes.

Abstract

A bridge is a construction structure whose role is to connect one place to another by crossing a natural or artificial obstacle. Bridge conditions can be caused by many factors such as the influence of weather, traffic loads, the environment, material durability, and so on. Good bridge conditions can be achieved if maintenance is carried out regularly. Therefore, assessing or checking the condition of the bridge is very necessary so that disturbances caused by the factors above can be avoided before an accident occurs. From the results of the field survey, it was found that 52.11% of bridges were in Good condition, 27.46% in Lightly Damaged Condition, 16.90% in Damaged Condition, 2.82% in Severely Damaged Condition and 0.70% in Critical Condition. . The bridge condition assessment was carried out for 2 weeks by carrying out inventory checks, detailed surveys and routine surveys on each bridge.

Abstract

The success of a construction project is determined by the suitability of time, cost and quality specified in the contract documents. However, construction project implementation sometimes experiences delays caused by various factors. Road projects are one of the construction projects that often experience delays in their implementation. Therefore, this research aims to identify the factors that cause delays in the implementation of city road projects in West Sumatra. The research objectives were achieved by conducting a questionnaire survey on 30 respondents who came from owners of the City Road project in West Sumatra who had work experience as Satker, Assistant, KPA, PPK, and PPTK. The data obtained was processed using descriptive statistical analysis. The results of the research show that the factors causing delays that often occur are four factors in the workforce indicator, with the highest frequency being the lack of skills of the workforce involved in road projects.

Abstract

Earthquake is a pounding that caused by a released energy of ground motion. The earthquake in high seismic zone caused damages and loss of live. Thus, there was important to evaluate the seismic vulnerability of structure before an earthquake was occurred to prevent the damage and safe of lives. The seismic vulnerability can be described by using fragility curves. These fragility curves was developed by HAZUS method that present the probability of the structure damage due to various ground shaking or lateral displacement of the building. This paper addresses the performance based design method to consider the building capacity due to Padang ground motion. Therefore, the damage probability was calculated by using the lognormal distribution with the probabilistic parameter was acquired by HAZUS engineering building module. Then, the fragility assesment of the building was compared in transverse and longitudinal direction. The result reveals that the building is vulnerable to collapse due to Padang ground motion.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has a very high level of seismicity. It is necessary to plan a building structure that can withstand the earthquake load. Indonesia has adopted guidelines on earthquake resistance planning procedures for buildings and non-buildings. This guideline uses the Performance-Based Seismic Design (PBSD) concept. Performance-Based Plastic Design (PBPD) is a structural analysis with the concept of energy methods which was initially used on steel structures. For reinforced concrete structures this method can also be used using the C2 coefficient. To determine the performance level of structures designed using the Performance-Based Plastic Design method, an analysis of the five-story reinforced concrete structure was carried out. Next, the structure will be analyzed using pushover loads. From the structural performance analysis, the structural ductility value based on Performance-Based Plastic Design (PBPD) was 3.014. The performance level is based on the capacity spectrum at the immediate occupancy level.
