Abstract

This article discusses the authority of the kiai and its dominance in an effort to construct religious discourse and practice in a pesantren. In the reasoning construction of pesantren, kyai is the single figure of the highest authority. On the other side, pesantren is a homogeneous educational institution that allows students (santri) from various socio-religious backgrounds to study religion in one place. The diversity of the background of the santri is very likely to be ignored by the kiai as the holder of the highest religious authority and effect to the practice of domination. In this case, the author conducted a study at the LSQ ar-Rohmah Islamic Boarding School, Bantul, Yogyakarta. This research is a qualitative research using two reading theories, Max Weber's theory of authority and Pierre Bourdieu's theory of dominance. The results of this study indicate that the kiai as the highest authority holder reflects at least two models of authority at once, charismatic authority because of his scientific capacity and traditional authority inherited from his predecessors. As the holder of authority and strengthened by the accumulation of economic capital, culture and symbols, the kiai has full power in formulating, determining and directing religious discourses and practices that take place in pesantren. Meanwhile, santri as a dominated group are only able to practice religious discourses and practices as part of the pesantren curriculum.

Abstract

Da'wah is a very great obligation. However, the implementation of Islamic da'wah often faces problems, especially when the material and activities of da'wah are included in the political realm. Therefore, da'wah themes such as sharia, daulah and caliphate are vulnerable to resistance, especially during the current era of power. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this study discusses the discourse of political da'wah in Indonesia. The results of the study show that: first, political da'wah is considered a threat by the state. This view is then framed by power by linking the ideas of sharia, daulah and caliphate with the narrative of radicalism. Second, theologically and historically the themes related to the caliphate are an important part of Islamic teachings. Unlike what is alleged, political Islam has historical concepts and facts that are much appreciated by historians and scholars.

Abstract

Love is an abstract thing that often cannot be described through a theory or string of words. Because basically love is a feeling of affection that is felt by the heart and difficult to digest by logic. When love has spoken often norms and religions are neglected. And one of them is the LGBT social phenomenon based on reasons of love. The purpose of this article is to find out whether in a relationship can only be based on love and religion will be neglected. The research method used is the study of literature using systematic review by collecting and reviewing from several relevant reference sources related to the sociological view of religion in LGBT relations based on reasons of love. Collection of reference sources is done by searching online databases through Google Schoolar as a data search. Based on the study of literature from various sources, the results of the study showed that LGBT is a deviant behavior and cannot be justified even under the pretext of love. Therefore, there needs to be a broader understanding and socialization related to LGBT in order to understand that LGBT is a behavior that not only deviates in norms and religions, but is constitutionally prohibited and has been declared as deviant behavior.
