Abstract

Collage work is the art of cutting and sticking on a flat surface, in the form of two-dimensional works of art that use various materials as a medium to create an artistic composition. In this case, the collage work comes from a program initiated by the Komunitas Gubuak Kopi entitled Daur Subur, which is an art platform as a study of the culture that develops in agricultural communities in Solok City, West Sumatra. In the Daur Subur program there is an archive of documentation collected during activities, which have been running from 2017 until now. In 2018 the Daur Subur#4 program launched a special theme entitled "Bakureh." This collection of archives on the theme "Bakureh" was then made into a collage work carried out through an interpretation process. The method used in producing this work refers to Alma Hawkins which consists of; exploration, improvisation, and shaping. This method will be used in every process of creating a collage work, from collecting all the curated archives to finishing the work. From this process eight works were created with the title; Proses Bakureh, Dapur dan Tungku, Julo-Julo, Pesta Warga, Rumah dan Istirahatnya, Bararak Menuju Sore, Gotong Royong, dan Suasana Dapur dan kepala yang Sibuk. After the collage work is created, the work is then presented by hanging it on a sketchpad and arranging it according to the concept and title of each work. The publication was carried out in the form of a solo exhibition which was given the same title as the Daur Subur program, namely “Potongan di Meja Dapur Komunal”

Abstract

This research examines the transformation of a public coffee shop space into a theater performing arts space by applying environmental theater and post-dramatic theater approaches. Public spaces, especially coffee shops, have great potential as alternative spaces for theatrical performances, given their informal characteristics and ability to attract various levels of society. The environmental theater approach emphasizes interaction between audience and actors as well as non-conventional use of space, thereby blurring the boundaries between stage space and audience space. Meanwhile, post-dramatic theater, which emerged as a response to traditional theater structures, prioritizes elements such as visuals, sound, and movement over linear narrative. The performance Aku+Kamu=Bertemu moves the perspective form of the arena stage and proscenium to the public space, by reading the issues in the public space. The conclusion from the Aku+Kamu=Bertemu performance is that integrating public spaces such as coffee shops into theater performing arts practices can revive the local culture and create a space for dynamic social interaction. This study also offers practical guidance for theater practitioners and coffee shop owners in designing and executing performances that take full advantage of the potential of these public spaces. Thus, this thesis contributes to the development of new strategies in the performing arts and public space management.

Abstract

Saintly families played a crucial role in the socio-political life of Central Asia, making their study an innovative direction in family studies within the region. The archives of these saintly families have been explored through examples of some well-known families. The main problem in this study is exploration of Karaskan sayyids archive. This work focuses on the Karaskan sayyids, a prominent sayyid family in the Ferghana valley, with a particular emphasis on their family archive. At present, only a part of the family’s documents, specifically copies, have been examined. My research aims to delve into the historical documents related to this family, which are dispersed across various locations. The fate of the Karaskan sayyids post-19th century remains largely unknown, a gap that has not been addressed in the limited studies available on this family. By meticulously analyzing these documents, my project seeks to reconstruct the family archive and illuminate the subsequent history of the Karaskan sayyids. This study not only contributes to our understanding of the socio-political dynamics of Central Asia but also highlights the significance of archival research in uncovering the histories of influential families. Finding of the research provide a clearer picture of the Karaskan sayyids’ archive and their impact on the region.

Abstract

General Background: Play is fundamental to children's development, encompassing physical, mental, social, and emotional health. It serves as a critical avenue for fostering overall well-being and prosperity in early childhood education. Specific Background: Despite the recognized importance of play, many children, especially those from deprived backgrounds, face barriers that hinder their access to play opportunities. This lack of engagement can lead to significant social and emotional challenges as they grow. Knowledge Gap: Existing research has often overlooked the interplay between play and the various dimensions of child development, particularly in the context of preschool education. There is a need for a deeper understanding of how play strategies can be systematically integrated into educational frameworks to enhance developmental outcomes. Aims: This study aims to investigate the game system of preschool education, focusing on the implementation of a H A (Holistic Approach) education strategy that prioritizes play as a central learning tool. Results: Findings reveal that integrating a structured play-based approach significantly improves children's physical, mental, social, and emotional skills, offering them better coping mechanisms for future challenges. Novelty: This research introduces a comprehensive framework for incorporating play into preschool curricula, highlighting its multifaceted benefits and the necessity of creating inclusive environments that support play for all children. Implications: The implications of this study are profound, suggesting that educational policymakers and practitioners should prioritize play in preschool settings to foster holistic development, particularly for marginalized populations. This approach not only enhances individual child outcomes but also contributes to the development of resilient communities.
