European Journal of Higher Education and Academic Advancement is an open-access, peer-reviewed international journal that offers comprehensive coverage of theoretical and empirical studies of higher education in Europe, comparative research within Europe, and comparisons between European and non-European higher education. Building on the successful legacy of its predecessor, Higher Education in Europe, EJHEAA is establishing itself as one of the flagship journals in the study of higher education and specifically in the study of European higher education. The journal accepts original research articles and proposals for special issues. We strongly recommend that authors consult back issues of EJHEAA for examples of topics of interest to our readership and to ensure that your proposed article is in conversation with any prior articles in the same topic area published in EJHEAA or other higher education journals. The articles that are part of a special issue do not all necessarily have to have an explicit European focus as long as the overall theme of the special issue fits the scope of this journal.

Abstract

Background: Neurolinguistic speech disorders, including aphasia, apraxia, and agnosia, significantly impact communication by disrupting different aspects of language and cognitive processing. Specific Background: Aphasia results from brain damage affecting language processing, apraxia impairs the motor planning required for speech production, and agnosia involves the inability to recognize familiar objects or sounds despite preserved sensory functions. Knowledge Gap: Despite substantial research into these disorders, there remains a need for comprehensive analysis and integration of their phonetic and phonological dimensions, as well as the development of targeted rehabilitation strategies to address these aspects effectively. Aims: This study aims to analyze the phonetic and phonological aspects of aphasia, apraxia, and agnosia and to propose rehabilitation strategies that focus on phonological and phonetic retraining to improve communication abilities in affected individuals. Results: The analysis reveals distinct phonetic and phonological challenges associated with each disorder. Aphasia is characterized by deficits in language processing, apraxia by disruptions in speech motor planning, and agnosia by impaired recognition of sounds and objects. Rehabilitation strategies that emphasize phonological and phonetic retraining have shown promise in enhancing recovery and improving communication abilities. Novelty: This research integrates findings from leading experts to provide a comprehensive overview of how these disorders affect phonetic and phonological processes and highlights novel rehabilitation approaches tailored to address these specific challenges. Implications: The study underscores the importance of targeted rehabilitation strategies in improving communication outcomes for individuals with neurolinguistic speech disorders and suggests further investigation into the effectiveness of these interventions in clinical settings.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the implementation of PAKEM in Fiqh Learning at MIN 46 Aceh Besar starting from the need to improve the quality of Fiqh learning, which so far still often uses conventional methods such as lectures. This method often makes students passive and less actively involved in the learning process, so that understanding of Fiqh material is less than optimal. The PAKEM method (Active, Creative, Effective, and Enjoyable Learning) was introduced to create more interactive learning and involve students in the learning process more actively. The method used in the study is to use a qualitative approach with the type of field research. The research results show that: 1). The effectiveness of the application of the PAKEM method in Fiqh learning at MIN 46 Aceh Besar is that the application of the PAKEM method in Fiqh learning at MIN 46 Aceh Besar is very effective in improving the quality of learning. Students become more active, creative, and enjoy the learning process. 2). Supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of the PAKEM method in Fiqh learning at MIN 46 Aceh Besar are that there are several challenges, such as differences in student abilities and limited facilities, the implementation of PAKEM still has a significant positive impact on student learning outcomes.
