Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the contextual teaching and learning model on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. This type of research is quasi experimental research with a pre-test post-test control group design. The population in this study were all class VIII students at the Wustho An-Ni'mah Batam Salafiyah Islamic Boarding School. The subjects in this research were 22 students from class VIII A as the experimental class and 12 students from class VIII B as the control class. The sampling technique was carried out using a saturated sample technique. Data was obtained with a test instrument consisting of 4 questions which had been tested for validity and reliability (rii = 0.67). The data analysis techniques used are normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis tests which include paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. Based on the results of data analysis, (1) The CTL learning model is effective on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities, (2) The Direct Instruction learning model is not effective for students' mathematical problem-solving abilities, (3) There are differences in the effectiveness of the CTL learning model and the Direct Instruction learning model on students' mathematical problem solving abilities.

Abstract

This research aims to identify various models/methods/strategies and media that are effective in improving mathematical communication. This study uses the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) method with four stages, namely identification, scanning, eligibility, and inclusion. Harzing's Publish or Perish (PoP) is used to search for required research references. The research results found 30 publications regarding efforts to improve mathematical communication skills in schools and universities. Realistic Mathematic Education (RME), cooperative learning models, and the use of media are the methods most widely used in efforts to improve mathematical communication skills. Quantum learning models/methods, PBL, generative learning models, CBL, BBL, discovery, inquiry, and SSCS can also be chosen as alternatives in efforts to improve mathematical communication skills. Middle school level and geometry materials are most often used by researchers in efforts to improve mathematical communication. The results of this research can be a reference for teachers to choose the right model/method/strategy and media to improve mathematical communication skills in pupils and students.

Abstract

The aim of this research is (a) to determine whether students' mathematical literacy abilities using schoology-assisted realistic synectics learning are better than those using conventional learning (PBL) (b) to find out schoology-assisted realistic synectics learning on students' mathematical literacy abilities. The subjects in this research were 32 students in class VII B of SMP Negeri 4 Adiwerna in the 2022/2023 academic year, with samples taken using random sampling techniques. Quantitative data analysis was tested using the t test, proportion test and gain test. The final result of learning students' mathematical literacy skills using realistic synectics learning assisted by classical schoology was 75%; the classical completion of the group with realistic synectics learning assisted by schoolology was better than the group with scientific PBL learning; The increase in students' mathematical literacy skills with realistic synectics learning assisted by schoolology is higher than the increase in students' mathematical literacy skills taught by PBL scientific.

Abstract

Mathematics aims to improve skills such as reasoning, critical thinking and problem solving in order to prepare students for life and further education. However, mathematics is generally considered a science that does not allow for critical thinking. In the learning process, most students are passive in solving mathematical problems so they cannot practice their critical thinking abilities The main aim of this research is to find out whether the problem-based learning model is effective on students' critical thinking abilities. This study uses a quantitative approach. This research is used a type of quasi-experimental research (quasi-experimental). The population of this study was all class VIII students at SMPN 1 Kajen, totaling 288 students. The sample from this research was 64 students consisting of an experimental class that applied a problem-based learning model and a control class that applied conventional learning. The results of this research show that the critical thinking abilities of students who receive the problem-based learning model are significantly different from students who receive the conventional learning model. The N-Gain test results show the effectiveness of the learning process. The use of problem-based learning models produces better critical thinking abilities compared to conventional learning models.

Abstract

Enhancing the quality of mathematics education requires innovative and interactive teaching approaches. Generative Learning Model offers a framework that allows students to actively participate in the learning process, potentially improving their understanding of mathematical concepts. This research aims to conduct a systematic analysis of existing literature on the use of Generative Learning Model in mathematics education, focusing on effective strategies for developing interactive and effective learning tools. The research methodology involves developing a review protocol, conducting a comprehensive literature search through databases such as Google Scholar, and selecting studies using the PRISMA flowchart. The results of the analysis show that the Generative Learning Model can significantly improve mathematical concept understanding and student engagement. Effective strategies in developing learning tools based on the Generative Learning Model include the use of interactive tools and contextual approaches in teaching. The conclusions of this research confirm that the use of the Generative Learning Model contributes positively to the interactivity and effectiveness of mathematics learning, and provides recommendations for further research and practical application in educational contexts.
