Abstract

Choosing a place of delivery is an important effort to reduce the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR). Husband's support plays a role in influencing pregnant women's decisions to choose a safe birthing place in a health facility. This study aims to determine the relationship between husband's support and the choice of place of delivery for pregnant women in the third trimester in East Penfui Village . This research uses an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 101 pregnant women in the third trimester who were selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The research results showed that the majority of respondents received good husband support (76.2%) and chose a health facility as a place to give birth (97.0%). Bivariate analysis shows that mothers who received good husband support mostly chose health facilities as the place of delivery (76.2%). The results of the Chi-Square test show a value of p = 0.012 (p < 0.05), which means there is a significant relationship between husband's support and the choice of place of delivery for third trimester pregnant women in East Penfui Village.

Abstract

Readiness for pregnancy should be established during the premarital period to reduce the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes resulting from inadequate physical, psychological, and knowledge preparedness. A preliminary study conducted at the Labang District Office of Religious Affairs (KUA), Bangkalan, found that most prospective brides were not adequately prepared for pregnancy. This study aimed to analyze the effect of premarital education on pregnancy readiness among prospective brides. A pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design was employed involving 28 prospective brides. The intervention consisted of a ±20-minute premarital education session using a flipchart. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Before the intervention, 71.4% of participants were categorized as unprepared, whereas after the intervention, 53.6% were classified as prepared. The mean readiness score increased from 22.79 to 37.07 (p = 0.001). Premarital education significantly improved pregnancy readiness and is recommended as a routine program at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) to support healthy pregnancy planning.

Abstract

Background: Obesity is frequently accompanied by hypertriglyceridemia, which increases cardiometabolic risk. Objective: To evaluate the effect of a 12-hour intermittent fasting regimen, performed on three non-consecutive days per week for six weeks, on triglyceride levels in patients with obesity. Methods: This quasi-experimental study employed a non-equivalent control group pretest–posttest design involving 50 participants, divided into an intervention group (n=25) and a control group (n=25). The intervention group fasted from 06:00 to 18:00, while the control group maintained their usual dietary habits. Fasting triglyceride levels were measured before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using paired tests, Welch’s t-test, and ANCOVA. Results: Triglyceride levels decreased from 251.64 to 178.80 mg/dL in the intervention group and to 227.20 mg/dL in the control group. The adjusted reduction was significantly greater in the intervention group by 48.40 mg/dL (95% CI: 33.60–63.20; p<0.001), with a compliance rate of 90.2%. Conclusion: A 12-hour intermittent fasting regimen performed three times weekly for six weeks reduced triglyceride levels more effectively than a usual diet. Larger randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm these findings. Intermittent fasting may represent a simple, low-cost intervention with potential application in primary healthcare, accompanied by continuous monitoring of dietary intake and physical activity.

Abstract

Background: Disasters can disrupt the continuity of maternal and infant healthcare services due to interrupted access to maternal and child health (MCH) books and referral systems. This situation may increase delays in recognizing danger signs and worsen maternal and neonatal emergency outcomes. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the continuity of midwifery care during disasters and its impact on maternal and infant emergency outcomes. Methods: This study used a descriptive-analytic design with a retrospective approach. Data were obtained through a post-disaster survey and simulation of a continuity of midwifery care model based on the integration of digital data and waterproof physical monitoring cards. The analysis assessed the relationship between care fragmentation and delays in recognizing danger signs, as well as the model's effectiveness in referral response time and the accuracy of complication detection. Results: As many as 42% of pregnant women lost access to their MCH books and medical records during evacuation. Care fragmentation was positively correlated with delays in recognizing danger signs among postpartum women (p < 0.05). The CoMC-Disaster model reduced referral response time by an average of 15 minutes and achieved 90% accuracy in early complication detection. In emergency deliveries, the model contributed to stabilizing neonatal outcomes, as indicated by a 5-minute Apgar score >7. Conclusion: The CoMC-Disaster model has the potential to strengthen the continuity of midwifery care and reduce delays in managing maternal and neonatal emergencies.
