Abstract

Background: Stretch marks are a common problem in 90% of postpartum women, which can lower their self-confidence. Soybean oil and turmeric oil have the potential to regenerate the skin due to their isoflavon and curcumin content. Nanoemulsion is expected to increase the effectiveness of active ingredient absorption into the skin. Objective: To analyze the formulation, physicochemical characteristics, stability, and effectiveness of a nanoemulsion sheet mask containing soybean and turmeric oil for concealing stretch marks in postpartum women. Research Method: This type of research is R&D, and Quasi Eksperimental Pre-Posttest With Control Group Design. A total of 32 postpartum women were divided into two groups, intervention group (n=16, soybean oil 5% and turmeric oil 5% nanoemulsion sheet mask) and control group (n=16, VCO sheet mask). The treatment was administered twice a week for 4 weeks. Stretch marks were measured using the Davey Score and analyzed using the Independent T-Test. Results: The nanoemulsion was made using an ultraturrax and produced a stable and safe product with a particle size of 94.75-163.7 nm, pH 6.5-7.1, and did not cause irritation. The average stretch Marks score decreased in both groups (Intervention group from 6.38 to 5.13; control group from 5.38 to 4.56). Statistikal analysis showed no significant difference in efficacy between the two treatments (p > 0.05). The difference in score reduction in the nanoemulsion group was 1.25 higher than in the VCO group. Conclusion: The nanoemulsion sheet mask was successfully formulated, stable, and safe for the skin. The use of this sheet mask can reduce stretch Marks scores, and its effectiveness is not significantly different from that of the VCO group.

Abstract

Background :  Hypertension is a major global health problem contributing significantly to cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. One of the key pathways in blood pressure regulation is the Renin–Angiotensin– Aldosterone System (RAAS), where renin plays a crucial role as the initiating enzyme. Inhibition of renin is considered a more specific therapeutic strategy with potentially fewer side effects. Bay leaf (Syzygium polyanthum) has been traditionally used as an antihypertensive agent and contains various bioactive compounds Methods : This study aims to evaluate the potential of bay leaf compounds as renin inhibitors using an in silico approach and to explore their development into herbal tea products. Active compounds were identified through literature-based LC-MS data, including gallic acid, malic acid, luteic acid, and myricetin. Molecular docking was performed using AutoDock Vina against human renin (PDB ID: 3D91). Results: The results showed that myricetin exhibited the highest binding affinity (-9.3 kcal/mol), followed by luteic acid (-7.9 kcal/mol), gallic acid (-6.1 kcal/mol), and malic acid (- 5.1 kcal/mol), compared to the standard inhibitor remikiren (-10.3 kcal/mol). Conclusions: Interaction analysis revealed that myricetin formed multiple hydrogen bonds with catalytic residues. These findings suggest that bay leaf compounds, especially myricetin, have potential as natural renin inhibitors and could be developed as antihypertensive herbal tea.

Abstract

Background :   Curcuma (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) contains curcuminoids and essential oils that aid bile and pancreatic function, thereby improving food absorption in the intestines and increasing appetite. However, the underlying biological mechanisms of the hormones that regulate hunger and satiety have not been extensively reported. This study aims to analyze the appetite-suppressing mechanism of curcuma rhizome extract emulsion by observing changes in ghrelin hormone levels in male Wistar rats. Methods :   This study was an experimental study using a post-test only control group design. The test animals were divided into four groups: negative control (distilled water), and three treatment groups that received curcuma extract emulsion at different concentrations (10%, 20%, and 30%). The treatment was administered orally for 21 days. The parameters obtained included ghrelin levels in serum, which were analyzed using the ELISA method, while additional parameters included daily feed intake and weight change. The data obtained were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, followed by one-way ANOVA and post-hoc tests. Results: This study shows that administration of curcuma extract emulsion can enhance the effects of amara, as seen from increased feed intake and body weight, and by increased ghrelin levels when compared to the control. Conclusions: This study concluded that curcuma functions as an appetite stimulant through hormonal pathways, which has the potential to be developed as a phytopharmaceutical candidate to increase appetite through a mechanism-based approach.

Abstract

Background: Self-care deficit is one of the main problems that arise in clients with chronic mental disorders, who frequently neglect their self-care, this condition is a symptom of negative behavior and causes clients to be ostracized both in the family and society. Based on the results of a preliminary study at the Bani Amrini Mental Health Center through observation of all People with Mental Disorders (ODGJ) patients, it was found that patients experienced poor personal hygiene because there was only 1 nursing home officer who supervised 35 patients. The purpose of the study was to analyze the differences in community as partners towards the fulfillment of personal hygiene in patients with self-care deficits. Methods: The design of this study was pre-experimental with a one group pre-post-test approach. The population used was People with Mental Disorders (ODGJ) at the Bani Amrini Mental Health Foundation with a sample size of 35 using the Total Sampling technique. The independent variable was “community as partner” (through screening assessments, personal hygiene education, practical demonstrations, independent hygiene activities, and evaluation sessions) and the dependent variable was the fulfillment of personal hygiene. Data sources were collected through observations of the fulfillment of personal hygiene. Results:    The results of the normality test using the Shapiro–Wilk test showed values of 0.045 in the pretest and 0.026 in the posttest; therefore, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was subsequently performed with a significance level (α) of 0.05. The test results obtained a P-value (0.000) for fulfillment  personal hygiene People with Mental Disorders (ODGJ) patients before and after being given community as partner showed that there was a difference between community as a partner in improving fulfillment personal hygiene. Conclusions: People with Mental Disorders (ODGJ) patients. The researcher's suggestion is that it is important to implement community as partner therapy continuously to improve the fulfillment of personal hygiene for People with Mental Disorders (ODGJ) patients so that it is expected to help accelerate the recovery and healing process for People with Mental Disorders (ODGJ) patients at the Bani Amrini Mental Health Foundation.
