This study examines and compares the concept of nafs in the works of two prominent Paripatetic Muslim philosophers: Ibn Sina and Ibn Bajjah. Both philosophers played important roles in developing the theory of the soul in the Islamic philosophical tradition. Though their views are often considered to be influenced by Greek philosophy, particularly Aristotelianism, this study seeks to demonstrate that their concept of nafs is an original contribution with a strong foundation in the Qur'an and Sunnah. Using a qualitative approach, the study collects data from the primary works of both figures as well as relevant secondary literature. The analysis reveals key differences between the two philosophers. First, Ibn Sina divides the types of nafs into three: the vegetable soul, the animal soul, and the human soul. In contrast, Ibn Bajjah analyzes the nafs more simply, focusing on its power. Second, regarding the immortality of the nafs, Ibn Sina's view is more comprehensive than Ibn Bajjah's, which limits immortality to the mind and the nafs natiqah. Third, regarding the perfection of the nafs, Ibn Sina emphasizes its perfection as a whole, whereas Ibn Bajjah limits it to the context of active reason.

This article explores the meaning of worship in the perspective of Ibn ʿArabi’s philosophical Sufism, focusing on its role as a means for realizing the essence of the human being. In Islamic tradition, worship is generally understood as a set of ritual activities that affirm a servant’s obedience to God. Ibn ʿArabi, however, offers a more profound and philosophical approach, in which worship is seen as an ontological process that enables the human being to recognize their deepest identity as a creature reflecting the Divine names and attributes. This study employs a literature-based method, analyzing Ibn ʿArabi’s major works alongside interpretations offered by Sufi scholars. The findings show that, according to Ibn ʿArabi, worship serves as a path to unveiling the existential reality of the human being and actualizing their spiritual perfection as the insān kāmil. Thus, worship is not merely an outward practice but also a medium through which human consciousness becomes aligned with the source of its being. This understanding offers a significant contribution to renewing perspectives on worship within the context of contemporary spirituality.

This study discusses Management Development in Islamic Educational Institutions. The application of management in Islamic educational institutions will not distance education from Islamic values; instead, its presence makes Islamic education more organized, planned, and able to achieve educational goals effectively. Management development in Islamic educational institutions is carried out through a philosophical approach within the framework of ontology, epistemology, and axiology. Development through this philosophical framework is expected to enable Islamic Educational Management to continue moving towards its ideal form in line with the dynamic development of science and technology. Islamic educational institutions are not merely places for transferring religious knowledge; moreover, Islamic educational institutions must be able to produce a generation capable of competing amidst the development of science and technology. This is proof that Islam is rahmatan lil'alamin (blessing for all the universe), whose existence is timeless.

The hadith on preferences in choosing a life partner “Women are married for four reasons…” is frequently interpreted in a partial and hierarchical manner, placing physical aspects such as beauty, wealth, and lineage on the same level as, or even above, religious values. Such textual-literal readings reproduce patriarchal norms and overlook the historical context of the hadith’s emergence. This study reinterprets the hadith through Hans-Georg Gadamer’s philosophical hermeneutics, emphasizing pre-understanding and the fusion of horizons between text and reader. Using a qualitative–critical approach and drawing on both classical (turāth) and contemporary scholarship, this research finds that religion in the hadith is not merely one of four equal considerations but serves as a normative critique of the materialistic and status-oriented tendencies of Arab society at the time. Non-physical criteria such as moral integrity, responsibility, and mutual respect represent the core religious values that should be prioritized. Through Gadamerian hermeneutics, the hadith is contextualized as an ethical guideline for forming marital relationships that are balanced, just, and free from patriarchal domination, reaffirming the primacy of religious values in contemporary practice

Songs serve not only as aesthetic works, but also as a medium for existential reflection that mirrors the inner struggles of humans in their search for meaning in life. This article analyzes the song “Tanpa Aku” (Without Me) by Panji Sakti through the approach of Soren Kierkegaard's existentialism, with the aim of understanding the representation of human existence in song lyrics. This study analyzes the song's lyrics using a semiotic approach. The results show that the lyrics of “Tanpa Aku” describe the existential journey of humans, which begins with an aesthetic experience of alienation and loss of meaning, then develops into ethical awareness through moral reflection, and finally reaches a religious stage marked by surrender to God. Thus, “Tanpa Aku” is not only a work of music with aesthetic value, but also a philosophical text that brings together music and philosophy.

Rapid population growth intensifies industrial activities, urbanization, and the use of chemical substances, resulting in significant environmental pollution. In Islamic teachings, the principles of cleanliness and responsibility toward nature are strongly emphasized in various hadiths of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), including the saying “At-thahuru syatrul iman” (cleanliness is part of faith) and the prohibition against causing harm or corruption on the earth. This article integrates perspectives from environmental chemistry, demography, and thematic hadith interpretation to examine the connection between population density, chemical pollution, and Islamic ecological values. Using an interdisciplinary literature review and qualitative descriptive analysis, the study finds that increasing population density without proper chemical management leads to environmental degradation that contradicts the Islamic principles of maslahah (public welfare) and khilafah fil ardh (human stewardship of the earth). The study concludes that Islamic ethical values can provide a strong moral foundation for developing environmentally sustainable and ecologically just policies.

Metaphysics is often practiced a priori, the validity of this approach is limited to a naive conceptual framework. This methodology becomes inadaquate because the ambition of metephysics goes beyond the traditional model of categorizing relity. As the ideological heirs of Aristotle, Al-Farabi and Ibn Sina proposed the theory of emanation as a retional metaphysical model. Through Risalah fi al’Aql, Al-Farabi mapped the sequence of possible beings from necessary beings, while Ibn Sina, thourgh al-Shifa, emphasized the universe as process of necessary determination, in which only God is free from external causality. However, the legitimacy of metsphydics is now at the center of fierce debate: is this discipline weakened for the sake of scientific pretensions, or is it simply an object of ridicule for the traditional model of the ‘salafushalih’? This research goes beyond previous descriptive studies thet only describe the sequence of emanation in the metaphysics of Al-Farabi and Ibn Sina as heirs of Aristotle. Using Al-Ghazali’s critique in Tahafut al-Falasifah as an analytical tool, this study re-examines the validity of the theory of emanation (al-fayd). The findings show that the concept of the “necessary emergence” of wajib al-wujud has fatal implications for the eternity of nature (qadim) and opens the path to pantheism, fundamentally weakening God’s position as a willful Creator.
