Abstract

Introduction: Cassava peels contain phenolic compounds such as tannins, flavonoids that act as antioxidants that can inhibit free radical activity. The purposeof this study was to make a liquid soap formulation from cassava peel extract and determinate the most powerful antioxidant levels contained in the liquid soap formula. Method includes experimental research by making several formulas of cassava peel extract liquid soap preparations with concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15%, then conducting physical evaluation tests and antioxidant activity test using Uv-Vis spectrophotometry. Result: The test results were described in tabular form and analyzed with One Way ANOVA statistics followed by post hoc (LSD) to find differences in the percentage of antioxidant activity from various concentrations. The results of antioxidant activity research from the three formulas have IC50 values FI (5%) 96,415 ppm (strong), FII (10%) 101,774 ppm ( medium), and FIII (15%) 101,322 ppm (medium). The amount of concentration in each formula affects the amount of antioxidant activity in it. The results of the One Way ANOVA test obtained a significance value of (p<0,001) which shows that there is a difference in antioxidant activity in each formula. Conclusion. this study is that cassava peel extract can be formulated into antioxidant liquid soap preparations but has not met the standards of physical quality stability of good preparations and the highest antioxidant activity is found in FI (5%) at 96, 415 ppm.

Abstract

This study examines the strategic role of pharmacists as ethical and legal mediators in Indonesia's pluralistic legal system. Based on the Nusantara Constitution theory, pharmacists are viewed not only as healthcare professionals but also as maintainers of the balance between state law and customary law. The research method uses a qualitative, normative-juridical approach with an interdisciplinary analysis of pharmaceutical science, constitutional law, and medical anthropology. Data were obtained through literature studies and case observations from indigenous communities in Papua, Kalimantan, and Nusa Tenggara. The results of this study indicate that pharmacists in indigenous areas face overlapping norms between professional codes of ethics, state law, and customary law. Their role as intermediaries enables culturally sensitive communication, the safe use of traditional medicines, and pharmaceutical practices based on local values. Pharmacists thus serve as a bridge between formal healthcare services and regional perspectives. This study recommends integrating local legal and cultural insights into pharmacy curricula and national policies to strengthen collaboration with customary authorities and build an inclusive, locally rooted health system.

Abstract

Elderberry fruit (Sambucus nigra L.) is known to contain flavonoids, anthocyanins, vitamin C and hasantioxidant activity that has the potential to increase immunity and help relieve symptoms of upper respiratorytract infections. This study aims to formulate elderberry extract-based lozenges. The lozenges were formulatedusing the dry granulation method with variations in amprotab concentration to see its effect on tablet quality.Evaluation was carried out on the physical properties of the granules and the physical quality of the resultingtablets. The results showed that formula F2 (amprotab 16.67%) showed the characteristics closest to optimal. The evaluation of the granules had a flow rate of 18.16 g/second, an angle of repose of 20.44°, acompressibility of 10.49%, and a hausner ratio of 1.11, which means it showed good flow properties. Thetablets of this formula have a disintegration time of 9 minutes 16 seconds, friability of 0.92%, hardness of 4.5kg, average weight of 602 mg, diameter of 1.21 cm, and thickness of 0.525 cm. Parameters as uniformity ofweight and hardness of the tablets do not meet the Pharmacopoeia standards. Therefore, further optimization isneeded in the molding process and adjustment of the excipient ratio to obtain lozenges with consistent qualityand according to standards. In conclusion, the formulation of lozenges with elderberry powder has the prospectto be further developed, with formulation optimization to improve the quality of the tablets to meet all qualitystandards. Keywords: amprotab, mannitol, elderberry extract, lozenge

Abstract

This study examines the integration of the values of the Indonesian Constitution, particularly the teachings of Sunan Drajat, into oral medicine practices and their relevance to the role of modern pharmacists. Values such as empathy, social justice, and community-based services embodied in Sunan Drajat's Pepali Pitu and Catur Pitulung demonstrate substantial alignment with the ethics of the pharmaceutical profession. This study employed a qualitative-descriptive approach through literature review, normative analysis, and historical methods. The results demonstrate that these values can be systematically integrated into the curriculum, training, and practice of pharmacists. Visualizations through diagrams and graphs demonstrate increased public trust in pharmacists based on local values. This integration serves as a foundation for strengthening a healthcare service model that is not only clinical but also rooted in the culture and spirituality of the community.

Abstract

Acne vulgaris is a chronic skin disorder characterized by inflammation due to excessive sebum production and abnormal follicular desquamation. Natural ingredients are considered as promising alternatives, such as green betel leaf (Piper betle L.) containing phenols, flavonoids, and tannins with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity. Meanwhile, gourami fish scales (Osphronemus gouramy Lac.) are a source of type I collagen with a triple-helix structure that has potential as an anti-aging agent. This study aimed to formulate and evaluate a serum combining green betel leaf extract and gourami fish scale collagen as an inhibitor of acne vulgaris bacteria. An experimental laboratory study was conducted using three formulas with different concentrations of active ingredients. Physical evaluations included organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spreadability, and adhesion on days 7, 14, 21, and 28, along with antibacterial effectiveness testing. The results showed that the best formula was 20% green betel leaf extract combined with 5% collagen, with 83.33% stability parameters fulfilled. The serum produced an inhibition zone of 29.88 mm against acne vulgaris bacteria, although viscosity did not meet the standard range (230–3000 cPs). Thus, this combination has potential as an effective natural anti-acne serum but requires viscosity optimization.

Abstract

practice. Antibiotics are frequently prescribed to support surgical procedures, manage acute inflammation, treat infections, and prevent systemic complications. However, prescriptions are not always based on clinical guidelines or rational considerations. This study aimed to evaluate the rationality of antibiotic use among dental patients at Intan Husada Hospital, Garut, using the Gyssens method. A descriptive quantitative design was applied by reviewing medical records of patients who received antibiotics in December 2024. The Gyssens method classifies prescriptions from category 0 (rational) to category VI (not evaluable due to incomplete data). Out of 58 patients, none of the prescriptions were categorized as 0, indicating 0% rational use. Most prescriptions (89.66%) fell into category IVC, reflecting a lack of consideration for cheaper but equally effective generic alternatives. The remaining 10.34% were classified as IIIB due to prolonged duration of therapy. These findings highlight that irrationality was not primarily related to clinical indications but rather to cost-efficiency aspects. Previous studies confirmed that generic antibiotics, including amoxicillin, are therapeutically equivalent to branded drugs. Strengthening education and implementing policies that encourage the use of generic antibiotics are essential strategies to promote more rational therapy in dental healthcare services
