Abstract

The goal of this research is to analyze the intellectual network structure, prominent publications and thematic trends within the field of Islamic law studies during the period of 2000 – 2025 through the bibliometric methodology. Data was extracted from the Scopus database and was processed using the VOSviewer software to identify co-authorship, citations and keywords. Findings show that a rather homogeneous network structure characterizes this community with some important individuals and institutions making up its core. As for citation analysis, it demonstrates that most of the highly cited works deal with secularism, political Islam, religious/secular dynamics and other topical questions related to the relationship between religion and state. Moreover, the thematic change in research is also evident in keyword analysis. It proves that in addition to traditional themes, which relate to classical Islamic jurisprudence, there appeared several important topics including human rights, gender justice, Islamic feminism, and others.

Abstract

In this article, the world research front in the area of gender studies in Islam is considered for the period from 2000 to 2025. Bibliometric and network analysis methods have been used for exploring author collaborations, citation patterns, and keyword relations. In result, it was found that this research network has a complex structure, including significant participation of countries like the US and the UK, as well as developing involvement of Muslim countries such as Malaysia, Turkey, and Indonesia. Citation analysis revealed the most influential literature and themes, including themes on veiling, identity, Islamophobia, and socio-political aspects of gender. Keyword analysis showed that the key concepts included "Islam" and "religion," with other concepts developing in time, like feminism, psychology, culture, and gender identity. Overlay visualization showed that the current state of the research area is dominated by interdisciplinary studies focused on critical analysis rather than initial demographic and statistical approaches. Density map confirmed the importance of the identified topics but also indicated emerging research fronts. In sum, the analysis showed the development of gender studies in Islam from an underdeveloped subject into a multidisciplinary field with significant expansion of concepts and methodologies and international collaboration.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the evolution of literature in the area of Islamic Education from 2000 to 2025 using bibliometric methods. Analyzing data from Scopus and applying the VOSviewer software program, publication trends, intellectual structure, and international cooperation in this sphere have been identified. The results show an impressive growth of publications and dominance of Southeast Asian countries (Indonesia and Malaysia). As for the collaboration pattern, the research found the presence of moderately well-connected networks limited by geographical proximity. Analysis of citations proves the interdisciplinary character of important papers, as they relate to both education and such fields as social science, psychology, and culture. Finally, keyword co-citation and keyword overlay analysis prove that a transition from purely religious concepts to more practical ones takes place: there is a growing interest in issues related to curricula, e-learning, and religious moderation.

Abstract

In order to understand the existing literature on Islamic economics, we conducted a bibliometric analysis of publications dedicated to the topic and published between 2000 and 2025 that were included in the Scopus database. With the help of VOSviewer, we performed an analysis of co-authorship, citation patterns, and keywords co-occurrences in order to reveal influential topics, important sources, and knowledge networks among researchers of Islamic economics. As a result of the analysis, we have determined that the research on Islamic economics has been based on a rather small set of central scholars, organizations, and even countries, which, however, have made a considerable contribution to building the knowledge base in the area. The results of our citation analysis suggest that the intellectual basis of the studied literature is based on a combination of ethical, normative, and socio-political discussions, which gradually shifted towards more applied and interdisciplinary studies, specifically in such spheres as Islamic finance and economic development. According to the results of keyword analysis, we can claim that the dominant theme of Islamic economics research papers is Islamic finance (Islamic banking), whereas the other emerging areas include sustainable development, information management, and financial innovation. The study contributes by providing a comprehensive mapping of Islamic economics research and offers insights into future directions, emphasizing the need for stronger global collaboration and broader thematic expansion to enhance the field’s relevance in addressing modern economic challenges.

Abstract

This article examines the spiritual essence of Sufism through two central concepts: inner purification and divine love. The study addresses contemporary challenges characterized by a crisis of meaning, existential anxiety, materialism, and a decline in spiritual depth. Employing a qualitative approach based on literature review, the article analyzes both classical and contemporary Sufi sources to explore the relationship between tazkiyat al-nafs and mahabbah ilahiyyah. The findings indicate that inner purification constitutes a transformative process that cleanses the heart of egoism, arrogance, envy, and excessive worldly attachment. Meanwhile, divine love serves as the highest orientation, guiding individuals toward closeness to God, sincere worship, and the cultivation of virtuous character. The two concepts are interdependent: love for God necessitates a purified heart, while inner purification attains its deepest significance through divine love. The article underscores the continued relevance of Sufism for modern society, as it provides a spiritual pathway that integrates inner tranquility, moral awareness, and social responsibility in daily life. These findings contribute conceptually to the study of Islamic spirituality and reinforce the significance of Sufism as a paradigm for ethical, reflective, and transformative self-development within a meaningful and enduringly religious modern civilization.

Abstract

Psychology as a widely studied academic discipline has undergone a fundamental shift throughout its history. Originally dedicated to exploring the nature of the soul (psyche), contemporary psychology has largely abandoned this dimension, redirecting its focus entirely toward the study of organismic behavior. This shift culminated in Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory, which constructs human personality through the concepts of id, ego, and superego in a framework entirely devoid of spiritual dimensions, even dismissing religion as mere delusion. This study aims to restore the existence of psychology as a science of the soul by examining its relevance through the integration of Freud's personality structure and the Qur'anic concept of nafs (nafs ammarah, nafs lawwamah, and nafs muthmainnah) within the perspective of Ulil Albab. A library research approach was employed, systematically analyzing psychological literature, Islamic scholarship, and empirical studies related to both frameworks. The findings reveal significant points of convergence between the two concepts, alongside fundamental differences: Qur'anic personality is theocentric, dynamic, and open to divine dimensions, whereas Freudian personality is anthropocentric, static, and closed to spiritual dimensions. The Ulil Albab perspective proves to be a productive integrative framework — embracing the positive contributions of Western psychology while enriching and completing them with the depth of Qur'anic nafs concepts, enabling the study of human personality to return to its spiritual essence.

Abstract

Overthinking, anxiety, and mental restlessness stem from excessive thought patterns and the complex pressures of modern life are increasingly experienced by individuals in the contemporary era. Cognitive psychology holds that a person's emotional state is greatly influenced by the process of thought processing and interpretation of lived experience. From an Islamic perspective, the concept of tafakur emerges as a reflective activity involving deep mindful awareness of the self, life, and the greatness of Allah. This study aims to analyze the relationship between tafakur and cognitive regulation in cultivating inner peace through a library research approach, drawing on cognitive psychological theory and Islamic literature. The findings indicate that meditation functions as a form of cognitive regulation that assists individuals in reinterpreting negative thoughts, enhancing meaning in life, and building psychological tranquility. Thus, the integration of meditation and cognitive psychology can serve as an alternative approach to maintaining mental health and individual psychological well-being.

Abstract

Islamic giving behavior, such as zakat, infaq, alms, and waqaf, possesses not only theological dimensions but also significant impacts on psychological well-being. This study aims to analyze Islamic giving behavior as a psychospiritual strategy to increase dopamine production as a happiness hormone. The method employed in this study was a library study of latest psychospiritual literature. The results show that sharing activities based on spiritual sincerity trigger activity in the brain's reward system, specifically the Ventral Tegmental Area (VTA). This psychospiritual process stimulates the release of dopamine, which elicits feelings of happiness, calm, and meaning (a helper's high). In conclusion, Islamic giving behavior is an effective psychospiritual intervention for increasing subjective happiness through neurobiological mechanisms. This research has implications for the integration of Islamic psychology and neuroscience in strengthening public mental health.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of social media has significantly transformed the way individuals access, consume, and disseminate information. While these platforms facilitate communication and knowledge sharing, they also accelerate the spread of anti-religious disinformation, which may contribute to religious intolerance, social polarization, and conflict in multicultural societies such as Indonesia. This study aims to examine the influence of religiosity and digital literacy on the behavior of spreading anti-religious disinformation among social media users in Indonesia. A quantitative cross-sectional research design was employed involving 150 active social media users selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire measured on a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics version 25. The analytical procedures included descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression analysis, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination (R²). Based on the simulated findings, religiosity had a significant negative influence on the behavior of spreading anti-religious disinformation, indicating that individuals with stronger religious values tend to communicate more ethically and responsibly in digital environments. Digital literacy also exhibited a significant negative effect and emerged as the strongest predictor, suggesting that individuals with better critical evaluation and information verification skills are less likely to disseminate misleading religious content. Simultaneously, religiosity and digital literacy significantly influenced anti-religious disinformation-sharing behavior, explaining 38.9% of the variance in the dependent variable (R² = 0.389). The findings highlight the complementary roles of ethical religious values and digital competencies in reducing harmful online behavior. The study recommends strengthening integrated programs that combine digital literacy education with inclusive religious values to promote responsible social media use and enhance resilience against anti-religious disinformation in Indonesia.

Abstract

The digitalization of zakat services has expanded the accessibility and efficiency of zakat payments in Indonesia. However, the sustainability of digital zakat institutions depends heavily on contributors’ trust in the quality of electronic services and the transparency of institutional information. This study examines the influence of electronic service quality and information transparency on trust in digital zakat institutions among zakat contributors in Indonesia. A quantitative explanatory design was employed using a structured questionnaire distributed to 120 respondents who had paid zakat through digital platforms. Respondents were selected through purposive sampling, and all variables were measured using a five-point Likert scale. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics Version 25 through descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination. The results show that electronic service quality has a positive and significant effect on trust. Information transparency also has a positive and significant effect on trust. Simultaneously, both variables significantly influence trust, as indicated by an F-value of 88.714 and a significance level below 0.001. The model explains 60.2% of the variance in contributors’ trust. These findings indicate that reliable digital services, secure transactions, responsive support, accessible financial reporting, and clear zakat distribution information are important determinants of trust. Digital zakat institutions should therefore strengthen both technological service quality and transparent governance to increase contributor confidence and sustain formal zakat participation.
