Abstract

This study aims to: Knowing women's perceptions of seaweed business in Langgapulu Village, Kolono Timur District, South Konawe Regency; Knowing the contribution of women to the allocation of time and income for women in seaweed farming. The population in this study were all female seaweed cultivators in Langgapulu Village, East Kolono District, South Konawe Regency. Respondents in this study used purposive sampling method, namely the technique of determining respondents based on considerations to explore aspects. The results of this study indicate that the perceptions of women cultivators in seaweed cultivation activities in Langgapulu village, seen from the cognitive, affective, and conative components, have been said to be good because they basically cultivate seaweed based on hereditary experiences that are in accordance with recommendations from fisheries extension, The amount of time allocation contribution for women seaweed cultivators is 52,46% and the contribution of women's income in seaweed farming is Rp.6.125.000 if the percentage is 50%.

Abstract

The planting system is a planting business on a plot of land by arranging the layout and sequence of plants over a certain period of time. Direct seed planting system (TABELA), this system has been tried by several farmers in Indonesia. As an effort to increase the carrying capacity of the land, the effort that must be made is to carry out innovative planting techniques by changing the habits of farmers in carrying out planting using the TABELA system. The purpose of this study, to find out: Farmers' motivation (intrinsic and extrinsic motivation) in implementing the direct seed planting system (TABELA) and and how do farmers implement the direct seed planting system (TABELA) in Lamomea Village. This research was conducted in Lamomea Village, Konda District, South Konawe Regency from March 2022 to October 2022 with 20 farmers as informants. Data analysis in this study used qualitative methods. The results showed that the motivation of lowland rice farmers in Lamomea Village included intrinsic motivation with indicators of needs and expectations, extrinsic motivation with indicators of family support and rewards. While the TABELA system for lowland rice in Lamomea Village at the stage of land preparation and planting is in the good category, in the seed preparation and care/maintenance stages it is in the sufficient category while in the harvest stage it is in the less category. It can be seen that the farmers in Lamomea Village need to improve the application of some of the TABELA systems like the other stages.

Abstract

Plantation farmers in Besulutu District were initially dominant in cultivating cocoa plantations, but as time went by, old cocoa plants combined with attacks by pests and diseases of the cocoa plants made the cocoa plants no longer productive so that in the end many farmers began to replace cocoa plants with oil palm plants. and also focus more on caring for their pepper plants. The population in this study included all plantation farmers (cocoa, oil palm, sago and pepper plantations) in three villages in Besulutu District, totaling 308 farmers and a sample from a population of 75 farmers determined using the Slovin method with an error rate of 10%. This research aims to determine the priority types of plantation crops to be cultivated in Besulutu District. This research uses Analytic Hierarchy Process or AHP analysis and Expert choisse11 software to obtain conclusions. The conclusion of this research shows that the priority plantation crop in Besulutu District, Konawe Regency is cocoa with the priority criteria being policy support criteria.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of farmers' knowledge about Siompu Orange Cultivation in Waindawula Village, Siompu District, South Buton Regency. This research was conducted in Waindawula Village, Siompu District, South Buton Regency from February 2022 to July 2022. The location of the research was determined purposively (purposively) with the consideration that Waindawula Village is one of the villages where most of the people cultivate Siompu oranges. The population in this study were all farmers cultivating Siompu oranges in Waindawula Village, Siompu District, South Buton Regency as many as 30 people. Sampling method is done by the census method. The results of this study can be concluded that the level of farmers' knowledge about Siompu Orange Cultivation in Waindawula Village, Siompu District, South Buton Regency is categorized as moderate, meaning that farmers do not yet have sufficient knowledge to cultivate Siompu Oranges, so farmers are expected to continue learning to improve their knowledge. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the level of farmer knowledge about Siompu orange cultivation in Waindawula Village, Siompu District, South Buton Regency can be concluded in the high category. Suggestions that can be conveyed to the government are expected to be able to provide innovation and the right technology for farmers to increase Siompu orange production which will lead to increasing welfare by taking into account the conditions, and it is hoped that Siompu Orange Farmers in Waindawula Village, Siompu District, South Buton Regency can continue to learn to increase their knowledge of Siompu Orange cultivation by following existing technological developments so as to improve welfare

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of performance of the Napabalano Agricultural Extension Center in Corn Farming in Pentiro Village, Napabalano District. The location of this research was determined purposively or intentionally based on the consideration that the Agricultural Extension Center (BPP) in Napabalano District is still active and is still running well in accordance with the program that has been prepared and is one of the designated villages so that the agricultural sector can improve welfare, especially for corn farmers. The number of respondents was 22 farmers who were determined using the census method. Data were analyzed using the class interval formula. The results showed that the performance of the Napabalano Agricultural Extension Center was in a fairly good category with a score of 60.954 as seen from the level of responsiveness, service quality and responsibility.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the traditional knowledge of the community in coconut cultivation in Tindoi Village, Wangi-Wangi District, Wakatobi Regency. The number of respondents in this study were 6 people who were determined using the snowball technique. The results of this study shows that: (1) Land provision for coconut cultivation does not arbitrarily chosen by the community in Tindoi Village Wangi-Wangi District Wakatobi Regency,Kaindea forest and Padangkuku forest are options the main community in the cultivation of coconut plants. (2) Tindoi Village community usually clearing forest land is done first slashing shrubs but before slashing the community first in the past, reading a mantra or prayer, the people there used to call it designation Batata. (3) Provision of coconut seeds by the Village community Tindoi, namely coconut seeds, can be directly taken from the mother tree, which is healthy and good. (4) The people of Tindoi Village before planting coconut first of all, you have to determine the good day,which is the good day is on yhe full moon that the people of Tindoi Village call it as Komba Ompulu Lolima which has the largest moon meaning of the moon another month.(5) The people of Tindoi Village have traditional knowledge in planting coconuts, namely in the process of planting coconuts must be male and planting during the day.When diong one has to sit on the ground and one has to carry one child behind him. (6) The people of Tindoi Village use coconut dregs or what they call kosea as fertilizer. Coconut or kosea dregs this is obtained from the juice of coconut milk and they use it as fertilizer usually they throw the kosea or coconut dregs to the coconut plant.

Abstract

The research aims to examine the competence of the community around the mining area and its impact on sustainable agricultural development. This research was carried out in January 2023 with a total of 104 farmers living in mining areas. This study uses a quantitative method with data processed by simple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS software. The results showed that community competence as seen from the ability to plan, solve problems, cooperation, creativity and adaptability as a whole was in the high category. Actions of agricultural development seen from the development of farmer capacity, superior commodities, application of intensification innovations, conservation of agricultural land, strengthening of farmer institutions, and capital support as a whole are in the medium category. Community competence towards sustainable development has a positive and significant relationship with the strength of the relationship referred to in the weak category

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) determine the level of knowledge of farmers in patchouli cultivation, (2) determine the types of motivation in patchouli cultivation, (3) determine the income of farmers in patchouli cultivation. This research was conducted in Lerepako Village, Laeya District, South Konawe Regency which was carried out from July 2021 to September 2021 with a total of 20 respondents selected by census. Data analysis in this study used a descriptive method. The results of this study indicate that (1) The level of knowledge of farmers in Lerepako Village in patchouli cultivation, all farmers are already at the level of knowledge of evaluating and some farmers are already at the level of knowledge of creating. (2) The motivation of farmers in patchouli cultivation in Lerepako Village is divided into two types of motivation, namely intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation, intrinsic motivation is dominated by fulfilling economic needs and interest in work  while extrinsic motivation is dominated by price  and a soil condition with a percentage. (3) The average income of farmers in patchouli cultivation in Lerepako Village, Laeya District, Konawe Selatan Regency from patchouli oil income is Rp. 61,445,000/planting season.

Abstract

The price of patchouli plants has fluctuated considerably from 2017 to 2022, but currently remains resilient at Rp.450,000/kg and is expected to continue increasing. This study aims to examine the types of motivation and the income of farmers who cultivate patchouli in Puunggapu Village. The population of this study includes all 20 patchouli farmers in Puunggapu Village. The study sample consisted of 20 farmers selected through the census method. Data were collected using observation, interviews, and documentation with an interview guide. Descriptive analysis was employed to determine farmers' motivation for cultivating patchouli and to calculate their income level. The study revealed that farmers in Puunggapu Village were motivated to cultivate patchouli due to intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Extrinsic motivation was not mentioned in the original text. Intrinsic motivation was driven by the desire to increase income, fulfill life needs, gain experience in farming, and the ease of cultivating patchouli. Extrinsic motivations for planting patchouli in Puunggapu Village include the high price of patchouli oil, the prevalence of patchouli farming among local farmers, the low maintenance required for patchouli plants, and the availability of markets to sell the resulting patchouli oil. On average, farmers in the village earn IDR 8,455,000 per growing season (6 months) from patchouli farming.

Abstract

The objective of this investigation is to examine the facilitator's function in enhancing the participation of farmer groups in the READSI program and to establish the correlation between the facilitator's role and the empowerment of farmer groups involved in the READSI program. The study was conducted in March 2022. The population of the investigation consisted of all members of the farmer group involved in the READSI program. The sample size was determined using the Proportional Random Sampling technique, and it included 45 individuals. The analysis of the data was performed using descriptive statistics and Spearman Rank Correlation analysis. The findings indicated that the facilitator's role in Trimulya Village, Onembute District, Konawe Regency, was of excellent quality. The farmer groups' empowerment was demonstrated by their capacity to handle the received information, make decisions concerning their farming, manage farming activities, market their farming products, and apply agricultural innovation technologies. There is a significant correlation between the facilitator's role and the empowerment of farmer groups.
