Abstract

ABSTRACT The existence of economic disparities has given rise to a city phenomenon, namely criminal acts such as theft, robbery and so on. As citizens, the unrest that arises due to this criminal act gives rise to proposals and recommendations to the local RT/RW administrators where the proposals given are very diverse so that in responding to the proposal an analysis technique is needed. A quick response to the unrest of the community in RT 002 / RW XIII Buper Waena must be followed up immediately because this RT/RW area is an area where criminal acts often occur, namely theft. The most common theft is theft of motor vehicles (Two Wheels). The purpose of this service is to determine the right strategy to find out the right stages to respond to existing security conditions. The method that will be introduced and become the content of this service is the introduction of the SWOT analysis method, where this analysis will consider existing internal and external factors. Internal factors consist of strengths (Strengths) and weaknesses (Weaknesses) while external factors are opportunities (Opportunities) and challenges (Threats). The calculation shows that the security enhancement strategy is in the X-axis quadrant with a value of -0.67 and the Y-axis with a value of 0.48 with a Cartesian quadrant model as in the image below shows that the security enhancement strategy is in quadrant III (ST).

Abstract

Community empowerment is a strategic effort to improve people’s welfare through capacity development and skill enhancement. This program was carried out in Patokbeusi Hamlet, Subang Regency, West Java, focusing on catfish farming as a practical and accessible livelihood alternative. Implemented by the Department of Aquaculture at the Karawang Polytechnic of Marine and Fisheries, the program involved training and mentoring activities for the local community, specifically the Mina Sejahtera group. The empowerment activities included technical training in fish pond construction, fish feeding, disease control, and marketing strategies. A total of 15 participants joined the program. The catfish farming was conducted using simple pond systems with tarpaulin-lined structures, making it feasible for communities with limited capital. During the mentoring phase, 6,000 catfish were cultivated across three ponds and yielded approximately 1,000 kg of harvest. The program not only increased the knowledge and technical skills of the community members but also contributed to their entrepreneurial capacity. Evaluation results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ understanding and implementation of aquaculture practices. Moreover, the formation of formal fish farming groups (Pokdakan) enhanced their access to markets and strengthened community organization. The success of this initiative demonstrates that integrated and participatory empowerment models, when supported by technical guidance and government collaboration, can lead to sustainable socio-economic development. This model can be replicated in other rural communities to tackle unemployment, food insecurity, and low income through accessible aquaculture-based entrepreneurship.

Abstract

Indonesia, as an archipelagic country, possesses immense potential in both capture and aquaculture fisheries. Among freshwater aquaculture commodities, Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is favored due to its fast growth, palatable taste, and ease of cultivation. However, conventional tilapia farming faces challenges such as limited land availability, excessive water usage, organic waste pollution, and high feed costs. Biofloc technology offers an innovative solution by utilizing microbial consortia to convert organic waste into edible flocs, thereby reducing feed consumption, improving water quality, and increasing sustainability. This community service initiative, conducted by the Karawang Marine and Fisheries Polytechnic, aimed to enhance fish farmers’ capacity—specifically among students at the Mumbar Huffazh Islamic boarding school—by introducing biofloc aquaculture practices. The program included training on the technical and practical aspects of the biofloc system and its application in small to medium-scale operations, particularly in land-limited rural or urban settings. Implemented on February 26, 2024, with follow-up support and evaluation, the program sought to (1) increase knowledge and skills related to efficient, eco-friendly tilapia farming; (2) foster commitment to water quality monitoring; and (3) promote sustainable aquaculture that aligns with the national Free Nutritious Food (MBG) program. The anticipated outcomes include reduced feed usage by up to 50%, shorter production cycles, enhanced fish availability, and improved livelihoods. The initiative reflects the institution’s commitment to the "Tri Dharma" of higher education through community empowerment, contributing to equitable development and protein food security.

Abstract

This community engagement program aims to empower vocational high school (SMK) students through entrepreneurship training in sustainable aquaculture, particularly focusing on biofloc-based Nile tilapia farming and goldfish hatchery practices. Conducted in collaboration with SMK Negeri Cilebar and held at the Karawang Polytechnic of Marine and Fisheries, the training provided both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience. Biofloc technology, an efficient aquaculture method using microbial activity to recycle organic waste into fish feed, offers a viable solution for fish farming in limited spaces. Meanwhile, goldfish hatchery, a high-profit upstream aquaculture activity, was introduced to enhance students’ understanding of seed production cycles. The program outcomes include increased student awareness and commitment to applying business analysis in aquaculture, improved practical skills in small-scale fish farming, and the establishment of a cooperative relationship between educational institutions. The initiative not only supports local food security and youth entrepreneurship but also promotes the utilization of Karawang’s abundant aquatic resources through environmentally friendly practicesKeywords: Community empowerment, catfish farming, participatory training, aquaculture, rural entrepreneurship, Mina Sejahtera, Subang

Abstract

Catfish is a type of freshwater fish that contains abundant protein. Catfish is also a food source with high nutrition so it needs to be processed properly in order to increase people's interest in consuming catfish. One of them is by processing catfish into nuggets, by combining animal food and vegetable food, so that this food will have a nutritional content that is high enough to be consumed. The method used is the lecture method and active participation in the training activities provided. The training was attended by the Head of Gandusari Village, Head of farmer women's group (KWT) Permai Tani. The activity started with preparing tools and materials, delivering material about digital marketing, practicing making carrot catfish nuggets, and handing over cooking equipment to KWT Permai Tani. From this activity it can be concluded that the public likes the Carrot Catfish Nugget products that have been made. The suggestion for the next activity is that the community can independently practice directly making fishery products.

Abstract

Beringin Raya Village's position, near the Bengkulu University campus and directly adjacent to Central Bengkulu Regency, should allow it to flourish as a satellite area. This location has the potential to become a new hub of activity, serving as a gateway between Bengkulu City and its neighboring districts. However, the development of the area surrounding the school in Beringin Raya Village is slower than that of neighboring villages nearby. The restrictions of regional expansion in the Beringin Raya sub-district resulted in the formation of spaces between residential settlements with a high potential for agricultural, livestock, and home industry development. The agricultural and livestock sectors are not the primary economic drivers in the Beringin Raya sub-district. The realities on the ground demonstrate that some individuals earn a living as farmers, particularly vegetable and horticulture growers who work in settlements. Identification of surrounding environmental resources in Beringin Raya Village is the first step toward understanding the potential problems, possibilities, and risks that will arise in the area. Field observations and conversations with community leaders are part of the data collection process. The next stage following identification is to establish priorities. The development of the area surrounding the Bengkulu University campus is a difficult task that necessitates a collaborative approach. Various variables are interconnected and impact one another in attempts to solve existing problems. The study programs of Bengkulu University play a vital role in contributing ideas, research, devotion, and solutions to help overcome or decrease current difficulties. Collaboration with the government, stakeholders, and local communities is essential for developing and executing effective policies.
