Abstract

This paper describes the structure and operation of the primary healthcare system in Nigeria, the sequence of its evolution from inception to what is obtainable now and the effectiveness of the system. Prior to that, a detailed description of the WHO targets through its Alma-Ata declaration in 1978 was explained and evaluated in comparison with the Nigerian healthcare system. Emphasis was laid on the concept, principle and element of the primary healthcare system as well as the challenges and the current state of the system. In conclusion, Primary healthcare in Nigeria, particularly in rural areas, has come a long way, but more work is undoubtedly still needed to realize the objective of universal health now and in the future. Priority should be given to improving people's living conditions beyond the current poverty level in order to promote healthier living. Local governments, as well as all other levels of government, must increase their allocations to the health sector among other things.

Abstract

The study examined the impact of Anchor Borrowers Programme on smallholder rice farmers in Kebbi State, Nigeria. A multi stage sampling technique was used to select 500 beneficiary and non-beneficiary rice farmers each giving a sample size of 1000 farmers for the study. Data collected were analysed using Descriptive statistics such as percentages, frequency distribution, performance indices computation, t-test, Chow-test and production function analysis. The results of the analysis of the Chow F computation indicated that there is a significant difference in the production function of beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries respectively since the computed Chow F value of 21.128 was greater than that of the critical F- value at the 0.01 probability level. This is an indication that the ABP performed well. The results further revealed that the two groups of rice farmers were not operating on the same production function. ABP significantly and positively affected output and income of the beneficiary farmers in the study area. It is recommended that Policies should be tailored towards inclusiveness of more farmers into the ABP. The programme should also be extended to cater for other sub-sectors of the Agricultural sectors such as Livestock and Aquaculture.

Abstract

The intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Agricultural Extension holds immense potential for enhancing sustainable development in the agricultural sector. This paper explores the transformative role of AI in agricultural extension services and its implications for sustainable development. Through a comprehensive literature review, data analysis, and case studies, we assess the current state of AI applications in agriculture and highlight the gaps and challenges in this field. Our study reveals that AI technologies offer innovative solutions for knowledge dissemination, decision support, and resource management in agriculture, contributing to increased yields, reduced environmental impact, and improved livelihoods for farmers. However, challenges related to data quality, accessibility, and ethical considerations need to be addressed. The paper also discusses the policy implications of integrating AI into agricultural extension programs and suggests future research directions. In conclusion, this research underscores the critical role of AI in agricultural extension for sustainable development, emphasizing its potential to revolutionize the agricultural landscape.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the influence of leri water supplementation on mycelium growth, primordial appearance, fruiting body count, fruit body diameter, and wet weight, as well as the production of white oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus). The research employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments: A0 (control without leri water), A1 (20 ml of leri water), A2 (40 ml of leri water), and A3 (60 ml of leri water), with a 95% confidence level F-test. The results revealed that leri water supplementation significantly affected all observed variables. The treatment with 40 ml of leri water (A2) produced the highest mycelium growth with an average weight of 10.45 kg, the earliest primordial appearance, the highest fruiting body count (15.67), and the highest wet weight (372 kg). Meanwhile, the treatment with 60 ml of leri water (A3) resulted in the largest fruit body diameter (17 cm). Among the treatments, A2 with a 40% leri water nutrient supplement in the growing medium outperformed others, as it provided the necessary nutrients for mycelium growth and overall mushroom development.

Abstract

Time is an integral aspect of existence. Time management is a crucial determinant that impacts all aspect of living. As human life progresses, both energy and physical strength tend to diminish. It is important to do several tasks within a certain time range. Any activity performed after the way of time becomes ineffective. It is essential to live in the present moment. The objective of this research paper is to have a thorough comprehension of the basic concepts of time management and its importance. To accomplish this goal, a thorough examination of the current review of literature was undertaken. The crucial element for effective time management has been shown to be work scheduling. The study highlights and investigates whether or not academic accomplishment is influenced by factors such as time management, learning motivation, and learning facilities.

Abstract

Hormonal disorders affecting ageing and hormone levels significantly impact polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which is linked to infertility. PCOS and obesity have a two-way overlap, affecting hormone concentrations with weight and age in PCOS-affected women. The study measured hormone concentrations in the blood serum of 62 POCS patients and found that BMI-related variables were negative with E2, insignificant negative association with HCG E2, Inhibin B, TSH, and FSH, insignificant positive association with prolactin LH, and age. Age-related variables were negative with AMH, HCG_E2, and prolactin, or positive with BMI, Inhibin, FSH, LH, and TSH, but insignificant. AMH changed positively with HCG E2, inhibin B, prolactin, and LH, and negatively with rest hormones. BMI is positively affected by a woman's age and PCOS, and age affects the production of inhibin, FSH, LH, and TSH. Therefore, the relationship between AMH and age is negative.
