Abstract

Research on the effects of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the mathematical problem solving skills of grade VII SMPN 7 Padang. This skill is crucial. Observations at this school showed that this skill is still low. Therefore, PBL-based research was conducted to improve this skill. A posttest-only non-equivalent control group design was used in this pseudo-experiment. This study involved the seventh grade of SMPN 7 Padang TP 2022/2023. Data analysis rejected H0 because the P-value was 0.017. Thus, PBL had an effect on math problem-solving skills compared to direct learning. Keywords– Mathematical Problem Solving, Hands-On Learning, PBL

Abstract

Students learning mathematics need effective mathematical communication abilities. This skill is weak in class XI Phase F SMA Negeri 3 Padang 2023/2024. Evidenced by observations. Think Pair Square (TPSq) cooperative learning is being used. This study analyzes whether the TPSq model improves mathematical communication abilities over direct learning and how they evolve. Study employed Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. A quiz and final test assessed math communication. Sampling was random. The research hypothesis was supported by Mann-Whitney. Quiz data revealed all indicators improved. The P-value was 0.001. H0 was rejected due to a P-value < α=0.05. The TPSq model improves mathematical communication better. Keywords–Mathematical Communication Skills, TPSq,  Direct Learning

Abstract

Math problem-solving is essential. But some students still struggle with this competence. Initial observations in class VII of SMPN 12 Padang in 2022/2023 showed low levels of this ability. This study compared the mathematical problem-solving skills of class VIII students at SMPN 12 Padang in 2023/2024 who used the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model to the direct learning methodology. The research is quasi-experimental and descriptive with a non-equivalent posttest only control group design. Quizzes and final tests were research tools. Data analysis, including normality and hypothesis testing, shows that the PBL paradigm improves mathematical problem-solving more than the direct learning model. Keywords– Problem Solving Ability, Problem Based Learning, Direct Learning.

Abstract

The key to success for pupils in mathematics is their ability to solve problems. to think carefully and critically in the field of mathematics studies and daily routine. The ability of class VIII MTsN 7 Agam students to understand, develop strategies, solve and re-examine problems are poor. This problem that arises is overcome with the Discovery Learning learning model, through quasi-experimentation and Design of Randomized Posttest-Only Control Group. The instance classes were taken using a simple random method to obtain experimental class VIII 6 and control class VIII 7. The tests were examined using the t test, with P-Value at zero indicates the Discovery Learning model is better at improving mathematical problem solving compared to direct learning in class VIII MTsN 7 Agam. Keywords – Discovery learning, Mathematical Problem Solving Abilitie

Abstract

Learning math requires problem-solving skills. In practice, kids’ mathematical problem-solving skills are still low. End-of-even semester results of class VII pupils at UNP Laboratory Development Junior High School in 2022/2023 and the initial test of ability demonstrate low mathematical problem-solving skills. Problem-based learning (PBL) can help pupils solve arithmetic issues. Descriptive and quasi-experimental Static-Group Comparison Design study. Sampling was saturated. Experimental class VIII A and control class VIII B. According to the research, students who learn with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model perform better than those who use the conventional model (P-value = 0,024 <  = 0,05).Keywords – Mathematical Problem-solving, Problem Based Learning

Abstract

The ability to solve mathematical problems is very necessary for student, because they are must can understand problems, plan mathematical problem solving strategies, solve mathematical problems, and write final answers. The problem solving ability of ninth grade at  junior high school Negeri 24 Padang is still low, because the learning process is teacher-centered. The solution to overcome this problem is to use the discovery learning model. The aim of this research to find out and explain the mathematical problem solving abilities of students whose learning uses the Discovery Learning model. This quasi-experimental research uses Nonequivalent Posttest Only Control Group Design. Results data analysis using the t-test obtained a value of  which shows that the mathematical problem solving abilities of students who study with the discovery learning model is superior to those study with the conventional learning model at ninth grade junior high school Negeri 24 Padang. Keywords– Discovery Learning,  Mathematical Problem Solving Ability

Abstract

One of the fundamental aims of studying mathematics is to answer problems. According to the SMA Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP, this ability is still poor and not effectively enabled for growth. Guided inquiry may solve these issues. This research examines whether guided inquiry learning methods help students solve mathematical problems better than standard learning models. Researchers employed a quasi-experiment using a randomized, control-group-posttest only design and random sampling. Conclusion: P-Value = 0.000 from t-test. Data analysis shows that students in class XII IIS SMA Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP who use guided inquiry models solve mathematical problems better than those who use conventional learning models. Keywords– Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, Guided Inquiry, Conventional Learning

Abstract

The study of mathematics aims to teach pupils how to solve mathematical problems. However, kids' problem-solving skills remain poor. This is because the learning paradigm employed to increase pupils' mathematical problem-solving skills is insufficient. Problem-based learning is one solution. This study reviews the development and effects of Problem Based Learning (PBL) on mathematics problem-solving skills. Descriptive and quasi-experimental methods were used in this posttest-only non-equivalent control group study. This study included 2022/2023 SMP Negeri 13 Padang grade VIII students. The experimental class, VIII.5, was sampled, while the control class, VIII.4, was randomly picked. It included quizzes and a final exam. The hypothesis test for the final exam, which yielded a P-value of 0.000, and the mean quizzes showed that Problem-Based Learning improved students' problem-solving skills. Keywords– Problem Based Learning Model, Conventional Model, Mathematical Problem Solving Ability

Abstract

This study examines the multiplication and root form problem solving skills of grade IX junior high school students. This qualitative research was descriptive in nature. Research involves planning, conducting and analyzing. The research subjects were three children who had the highest, average, and lowest mathematics scores in their class, using the KKM score as the assessment reference. They used the Math Problem Solving Ability Test. The Grade IX SMP students were unable to understand the problem, plan the solution, solve problems according to plan, or check the multiplication and root form material, so they had low mathematical problem-solving ability in these areas. Keywords: Analysis of Students Mathematical Ability, Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, Exponentials and Roots Material
