Abstract

The research focuses on transparency and education related to artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education, as well as how these two factors affect the acceptance of technology by students and academic staff. The main objective of this study is to explore users' views and attitudes towards the use of AI, with a special emphasis on ethical and practical aspects. This study uses a mixed approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews conducted at Superior University, Lahore, Pakistan. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, while qualitative data were analyzed by thematic methods. The results of the study showed that 75.2% of respondents supported education and transparency related to AI. A total of 54.7% of respondents expressed concern that AI could threaten academic integrity if it is not used transparently and fairly. However, 45.3% of respondents see AI as an effective tool to detect plagiarism and improve academic supervision. The implications of this study underscore the importance of comprehensive education and transparency policies to ensure the ethical and effective use of AI in higher education. This research provides an empirical foundation for the development of policies that can increase trust and acceptance of AI in academic contexts.

Abstract

The focus of this study is to investigate the role and implementation of character education planning in Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School in maintaining the institution's brand identity and strong local values. This study discusses communication dynamics in the pesantren environment and the application of attribution theory in understanding community perceptions. This study explores how communication takes place in the context of pesantren and how attribution theory is used to understand how people interpret messages and actions from pesantren. The research method used is a case study that analyzes communication interactions in certain pesantren and interviews related community members. The results showed that communication in pesantren produces self-awareness, optimization of communication, building a positive image, public education, and collaboration. Attribution theory helps understand how society assigns meaning and interpretation to information received from pesantren. These findings provide valuable insight into the importance of effective communication in building a positive image and increasing public understanding of pesantren. This study's implication is to guide traditional Islamic educational institutions in strengthening brand identity and local values through a planned character education approach.

Abstract

The learning environment is greatly impacted by the leadership styles of principals, largely because of the fast-growing population and rising demand for high-quality education.  Principals who choose transformational leadership can promote significant change and establish their schools as centres of excellence for learning and personal development as the global education landscape changes. The paper examines the opportunities and difficulties related to the transformational leadership approach used by principals in public senior secondary schools in Oyo State. The current state of transformational leadership practices among principals in public senior secondary schools in Oyo State was examined alongside the challenges they face and potential solutions. A comprehensive literature research was carried out to shed light on the advantages and challenges associated with the transformational leadership style of principals in Oyo State's public senior secondary schools. Based on the paper, principals encounter challenges such as resistance to change, resource constraints, teacher professional development, parent and community expectations and administrative obstacles while the prospects are cultural shift towards collaboration, creative resource management, empowered teacher leadership, community engagement and support and advocacy for educational reform. The Position Paper provides a more comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the challenges relating to transforming leadership in different learning environments, as well as an insight which can benefit education policymakers, administrators and researchers. In conclusion, this paper calls for collective efforts from all stakeholders in the education sector to promote and support transformational leadership in public senior secondary schools in Oyo State.

Abstract

The scope of the study includes an analysis of the implementation of inclusive education policies for students with disabilities in Tanzania as well as the identification of barriers that affect their effectiveness. This study aims to explore the conditions of implementation of inclusive education policies and identify challenges in achieving sustainable education inclusion for students with disabilities in Tanzania. The methodical strategy used to find relevant documents published between 2004 and 2022 was powered by the publish or perish domain across many electronic databases, namely Google Scholar, Institutional Repositories, and ERIC. Nine documents out of 41 were selected for data mining and analysis after meeting inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results show that the government has implemented several policies and strategies, like the Education and Training Policy, the Persons with Disabilities Act, the Inclusive Education Strategy, and educational regulations and circulars reinforcing inclusive education and children with disabilities' rights to access education. In addition, the government has established inclusive schools and special needs education departments at the ministerial level to address the several needs of students with disabilities. The review also highlights several impediments to implementing inclusiveness in education by government initiatives. These impediments include insufficient funds, dilapidated and inaccessible infrastructure, the community stigma related to disability, inadequate specialised experts, and a lack of assistive technology in many conventional schools. The implication of this research is to provide a better understanding of the effectiveness of inclusive education policy implementation in Tanzania and highlight the barriers that need to be overcome to achieve sustainable education inclusion for students with disabilities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to contribute to contemporary debates about alternative ways of teaching Moral Education (ME) in Malaysia by including the voice of students. ME in the Malaysian setting is both complex and compulsory. The research is founded on a modified version of Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD), extended to suit the multicultural, multi-ethnic Malaysian setting, and here called the Zone of Collaborative Development (ZCD). This study uses qualitative research methodology consisting of a modified framework of participatory action research (PAR) as the methodological framework. Data was gathered for textual analysis through a modified form of participant observation, focus group transcripts, interviews, and student journals. Findings show that students were concerned about moral issues and values not covered in the current ME curriculum. The moral dilemmas that they identified were relational and context dependent. Multiple factors contributed to the problems they described.
