Abstract

Scientific literacy is the ability to use scientific information, recognize problems, and draw conclusions based on data to understand and make choices about the natural world and changes caused by human activities. Science literacy is essential to address a wide range of ethical, moral, and global challenges. This study aims to measure the science literacy ability of Biology Education students in semester 2 of the Biology Education Study Program. The study sample amounted to 22 people from a population of 129 people consisting of 4 classes. The data collection technique uses biological science literacy tests in the form of multiple choice. Data analysis techniques use descriptive analysis. Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that the science literacy ability of Biology Education students in Semester 2 in the medium category was 15%, and the low category was 7%. In the results of the value of science literacy ability on the indicator explaining phenomena scientifically, it can be seen that the average score obtained by all students is 14.25 which is included in the low category. The results of the value of biological science literacy ability on the indicator of evaluating and designing scientific investigations can be seen that the average score obtained by all students is 9.75 which is included in the low category. The results of the value of biological science literacy skills on data interpretation indicators and proving scientific data can be seen that the average score obtained by all students is 26.6 which is included in the low category. Based on the results of the data obtained, it can be concluded that the science literacy ability of biology students in semester 2 as a whole is in the low category.

Abstract

This study plans to: (1) produce issue based learning (PBL) science e-modules to further develop understudy self-directed learning, (2) decide the use of PBL-based science e-modules to further develop understudy self-controlled learning, (3) decide the impact of PBL-based science e-module to work on understudies' self-managed learning. Using a four-dimensional model, this study is an R&D (research and development) study: characterize, plan, create, and scatter. PBL-based biology e-modules, learning response questionnaires, and student self-regulated learning questionnaires served as the research instruments. The average percentage score obtained by expert validators and small-scale student trials demonstrate the e-module's viability. The use of the e-module should be visible from the typical score acquired in the learning reaction survey. The acquisition of self-regulated learning questionnaires for early and late students reveals the influence of e-modules on student self-regulation. Using a straightforward linear regression test, to determine how the e-module affected the self-regulated learning of students. The findings revealed: 1) PBL-based science e-module to further develop understudies' self-controlled learning is possible to use with a score of 83% master approval in the "Substantial" class and testing on understudies got a level of 85% in the "Truly Qualified" classification ". ( 2) The use of PBL-based biology e-modules received an overall average "Good" score of 79.57 percent. 3) PBL-based biology e-modules have an effect on students' ability to learn independently. In view of the consequences of the speculation test, the t count is more noteworthy than t table (7.802 > 2.035) with an importance worth of 0.000, and that implies it is more modest than the 5% importance level (0.000). <0.05).

Abstract

Science subjects, especially Biology, require students to understand something not only macroscopic but also microscopic. Therefore, most students are less able to understand biology materials, especially those that are microscopic. The purpose of the study was to improve the learning outcomes of seventh-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Bojonegoro after applying project-based learning to the material on Cells and Life Organization. The type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK), which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation and evaluation, and reflection. The research subjects were the VII grade of SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Bojonegoro, totaling 23 students. The research instrument used was a test sheet. The research data was analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. Data analysis showed that the average pre-cycle learning outcome was 63.5 with 17.4% classical completeness. In cycle 1, the average learning outcome was 81.1 with 65.2% classical completeness. In cycle 2, the average learning outcome was 88.3, with 91.3% classical completeness. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that project-based learning can improve the learning outcomes of seventh-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 9 Bojonegoro.

Abstract

The results of PISA in 2018 and TMSS in 2015 show that the quality of education in Indonesia in science and scientific problem solving is very low. The purpose of this study was to describe the analysis of the development of e-modules for the substance of genetic material integrated with YouTube based on Learning Cycle 7E to train critical thinking skills. This development research uses the ADDIE development model. This research is the initial stage of development, namely the analysis stage which includes analysis of needs, curriculum and materials. The subjects of this study were students of class XII MIPA 1 and XII MIPA 2 at SMAN 1 Paciran totaling 49 students, and 6 high school biology teachers in Lamongan Regency. Research data collection techniques with questionnaires and documentation. The questionnaire technique is based on the google form platform which is shared on WhatsApp groups. The research data were analyzed with quantitative descriptive statistics. The results of the study include needs analysis, 59.18% of teachers have difficulty in learning biology which trains students' critical thinking skills, and 81.63% of students have difficulty practicing critical thinking skills. The interest and need for e-modules resulted in 95.92% of teachers and 90.09% of students being interested and in dire need of developing e-modules based on Learning Cycle 7E. The results of the curriculum and material analysis are suitable for practicing critical thinking skills, because operational verbs are at the C4 and P4 levels in Bloom's taxonomy. This research can be concluded that teachers and students are interested and really need the development of e-modules based Learning Cycle 7E to train students' critical thinking.

Abstract

Purpose: To find out what problems or obstacles occur in the biology learning process. Design/methodology/approach: The type of research is qualitative description with observation methods. Data was collected through distributing questionnaires to science (Natural Science) subject teachers at MTS Mansaul Huda Bonjor Sarang and SMPN 1 Bancar. Findings: The problems of teachers at MTS Mansaul Huda Bonjor and SMPN 1 Bancar are similar, namely the lack of laboratory facilities that support practical work. Many teachers experience problems in learning, including biology learning. The research examines the problems experienced by teachers in teaching biology. The aim of the research is to find out what problems or obstacles occur in the biology learning process. The research method used is qualitative description with data collection based on sampling by distributing questionnaires to science subject teachers at MTS Mansaul Huda Bonjor Sarang and SMPN 1 Bancar. The results of this research conclude that the problems of teachers at MTS Mansaul Huda Bonjor and SMPN 1 Bancar are similar, namely the lack of laboratory facilities that support practicums. The learning process carried out so far at MTS MANsal Huda Bonjor is still not effective and students are still relatively passive, whereas at SMPN 1 Bancar the learning looks active. MTS Mansaul Huda Bonjor teachers are honorary teachers whose welfare is lacking, while SMPN 1 Bancar teachers are on average PNS (Civil Servants) whose welfare is more guaranteed.
