Abstract

The article investigates the theoretical and methodological underpinnings for examining the socio-ethical views of Timurid philosophers, the hermeneutic basis of these viewpoints, and the pedagogical implications of these views in the context of New Uzbekistan. Furthermore, the methodological grounds for applying Timurid-era intellectuals’ socio-ethical views to New Uzbekistan have been examined. Despite the fact that several scientific studies have been conducted in the history of philosophy on the study of the science and culture of the Timurid dynasty, the essence of the socio-moral views of the thinkers of the Timurid era has not been specifically studied from the perspective of the present day. Therefore, in this article, a comprehensive study of the socio-moral views of the thinkers of the Timurid era based on a hermeneutic approach is of urgent scientific importance.

Abstract

This study investigates the provision of labor resources for the construction of irrigation and reclamation facilities in the Bukhara region during the 1950s and 1960s, focusing on internal agricultural migration influenced by Soviet state policies. The research aims to examine the mechanisms, socio-economic consequences, and challenges of resettlement processes, as well as their broader impact on regional development in Soviet Uzbekistan. Using the historical-genetic method, archival documents, official Soviet-era decrees, and contemporary media sources were analyzed. The findings reveal significant discrepancies between resettlement and placement plans, which resulted in failures to retain migrant populations in new territories. The disorganization in household selection, implementation gaps, and delays in distributing promised benefits such as housing, loans, and tax exemptions led to mass returns of migrants. The study concludes that centrally planned resettlement policies, without adequate logistical and social preparedness, caused long-term setbacks in rural development and social integration.

Abstract

The Bukhara oasis’ geographic location, distinctive natural environment, rich historical and ethnographic legacy, and potential for modern tourism are all thoroughly examined in this article. This historic oasis, which is centred on the Zarafshan River, is notable for its multiethnic makeup, national cuisine, craftsmanship, and architectural traditions. Through the harmony of Bukhara’s ancient residential architecture, verandas, tandir kitchens, and guest rooms with art and nature, the author examines the aesthetic preferences and worldview of the local populace. Important details regarding the historical neighbourhoods of different ethnic groups, including Turkmens, Iranians, and Jews, as well as their cultural and religious landmarks, are also included in the article. The article illustrates how Bukhara used to look based on old photos from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, national customs, folk applied arts, and culinary culture are being actively promoted by ethnotourism destinations like Shirin, Sheykhon, Qorgon, and Borontepa. The author lists the issues impeding ethnotourism’s growth and makes recommendations for how to address them. This article portrays Bukhara as an outdoor ethnographic museum that is crucial to the growth of global travel.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how migrant communities construct, sustain, and negotiate social structures in urban environments. Using a community ethnography approach, the research is grounded in Anthony Giddens' structuration theory and Pierre Bourdieu’s concept of socio-cultural capital. The research was conducted in Tamalate District, Makassar, involving participatory observation and in-depth interviews with 15 key informants. Findings reveal that social structures within migrant communities emerge from routinized daily practices such as communal gatherings, religious study groups, and collective neighborhood maintenance. Socio-cultural capital—manifested in networks, trust, and shared values—significantly influences individuals’ positions and roles in the community. Moreover, the younger generation is actively involved in shaping new socio-cultural spaces through digital adaptation and small-scale entrepreneurship. Migrant communities also employ symbolic strategies to navigate external challenges without engaging in open conflict, which reflects a form of silent resistance and social negotiation. This study highlights the remarkable adaptability and resilience of migrant communities in urban settings. Rather than being passive subjects of displacement, these communities actively reproduce and transform their social world, contributing to a dynamic and empowered urban life. The findings offer valuable insights into the interplay between migration, identity formation, and urban inclusivity, emphasizing the importance of culturally sensitive approaches in urban development policies

Abstract

This study aims to explore how the local wisdom of the Bugis-Makassar community can be integrated into sustainable public space management in Makassar. Using Lefebvre’s theory of the Production of Space, Harvey’s Right to the City, and the concept of cultural sustainability, the research positions public space as a social and political construct shaped by power relations and cultural meaning. The study adopts a qualitative ethnographic approach, with data collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and visual documentation in key public spaces including Losari Beach, Karebosi Field, and community-driven alleyways (Lorong Wisata). Findings reveal that urban modernization tends to marginalize local wisdom, exacerbating inequality and undermining social cohesion. However, grassroots initiatives rooted in cultural values such as siri’ na pacce and gotong royong show strong potential for inclusive and participatory revitalization. These findings contribute to spatial theory by integrating cultural dimensions into the concept of spatial production and offer practical strategies for equitable and culturally grounded urban planning.

Abstract

Persons with disabilities in Bitung City, particularly the Deaf community, continue to face limited access to education, employment, and social participation. In response, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, through its Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, implemented a participatory and collaborative approach that included surveys, interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and observations, accompanied by pre- and post-test evaluations to measure participants' competency improvement. The PADU Program offers five main training modules — Sign Language, Souvenir Production, Barista Skills, Shoe Care, and Digital Creativity — tailored to the diverse types of disabilities among participants. The results indicate an average increase of 40% in technical skills and 35% in social aspects, including self-confidence and communication. Economically, participants successfully produced approximately 200 coconut-shell souvenirs, valued at around IDR 10 million per month. The program also contributed to reducing potential emissions by up to 15 tons of CO₂ per month through the implementation of a circular economy approach. PADU contributes to SDGs 8, 10, 12, and 13, demonstrating that multi-stakeholder collaboration can foster inclusive, equitable, and sustainable social transformation for persons with disabilities. The Bitung Deaf Care Community (KALEB) established the PADU Inclusive Disability Learning Center as a community-based model for inclusive empowerment. This study employs a qualitative approach.
