Abstract

Poverty is a multidimensional and complex problem. The Special Region of Yogyakarta is one of the provinces in Java Island which has the worst poverty rate amongst the Java Island. Poverty can be reduced through economic growth and the implementation of fiscal decentralization. Therefore, this study aims to see the effect of Local Own-source Revenue (PAD), Balancing Funds, and Economic Growth on Poverty in the Special Region of Yogyakarta taken in the period of 2012 – 2021. The data were examined using panel data regression. Based on the regression results, Local Own-source Revenue and Balancing Funds are found to have a negative and significant impact on poverty, while Economic Growth is found to have a positive and insignificant impact on poverty. Overall, these three variables are significant to poverty with the measurement of R2 value for 0.8072 or 80.72%.

Abstract

One of the problems that often occurs in developing countries is the high rate of open unemployment, this can be caused by several factors, including due to the fact that the wages provided are not able to attract the interest of the workforce to work in the formal sector, as well as the impact of poor health levels resulting in inadequate optimal effort given by HR in work. In addition to these two factors, too high inflation also had an impact on hampering the absorption of the labor force. Therefore, one of the policies implemented by the Banten provincial government is to gradually increase the minimum wage to increase the interest of the workforce so they can work in the formal sector. This study aims to determine the effect of inflation, minimum wages and life expectancy on the open unemployment rate in districts/cities, Banten Province in 2008-2020. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach using secondary data in the form of district/city panel power in Banten Province in 2008-2020, to be further analyzed using panel regression through the Eviews application version 9. The results in this study indicate that inflation has a negative effect but not significant to the open unemployment rate, the minimum wage has a negative and significant effect on the open unemployment rate and life expectancy has a negative and significant effect on the open unemployment rate and inflation, the minimum wage and life expectancy have a significant effect simultaneously or together - the same as the open unemployment rate in the Regency/City of Banten Province.

Abstract

One of the recurring issues in developing countries like Indonesia is the high level of income inequality. This can be attributed to several factors, including uneven economic growth (Gross Regional Domestic Product - GRDP) among the regions in Indonesia, where some provinces experience significant development while others with low GRDP lag behind due to a lack of interest from external parties, apart from the government, to invest in these underdeveloped areas. Additionally, the low attractiveness of certain provinces to investors results in reduced labor productivity, as there is limited capital available to produce goods and services, leading to income disparities among the provinces. Therefore, one of the policies that each regional government should implement is gradually increasing the minimum wage to promote more equitable income distribution. This research aims to investigate the influence of GRDP, provincial minimum wage, labor productivity, and investment on the open unemployment rate in Indonesia from 2015 to 2019. The research utilizes a quantitative approach with secondary data in the form of a panel dataset from 34 provinces in Indonesia during the period of 2015-2019. The data is then analyzed using panel regression through Eviews version 10. The results of this research indicate that these factors significantly and jointly affect income inequality in Indonesia from 2015 to 2019.

Abstract

This study aims to describe how the monetary policy of national economic recovery affects the performance of banks that mediate the running of that policy. This research data uses secondary data in the form of a combination of crossection and time series data also limited by the research time starting from the first quarter of 2020 to the fourth quarter of 2022. The data taken are ROA, BI-7DRR, lending, and credit restructuring. The analysis method used is panel data regression where the model used is random effect. The findings of this study indicate that the monetary policy of national economic recovery is effective in minimizing the impact of COVID-19 on banking performance. After this policy is implemented, changes in the value of lending, credit restructuring, and BI-7DRR minimize the decline in bank profitability in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, when viewed individually, the BI-7DRR instrument shows a negative influence on bank profitability where the decline in BI-7DRR makes bank profitability increase.

Abstract

East Java is one of the densely-populated provinces in Indonesia. its population is dominated by working age, and indirectly will affect the amount of workforce, and this will cause problems in employment. This research aims to see the effect of informal sectors, regional gross domestic product, human development index, and wages towards workforce participation in East Java Province. Analysis employed in this research is panel data regression. Results show that every variable shows different results towards workforce participation. Informal sector and wages variables are significant, meanwhile regional gross domestic product and human development index variables are insignificant.

Abstract

There has been high economic growth in East Java Province, as evidenced by a decrease in the Gini Ratio. To reduce income inequality, there is a need for strengthening wage policy systems and equitable government expenditures, as well as investment in sectors that are still lagging behind. Additionally, access to education, healthcare, and job creation also need to be reinforced to reduce the disparity between districts and cities in East Java. This study used panel data regression analysis to analyze the influence of independent variables such as economic growth rate, minimum wage, working population, human development index, government expenditures, and investment on the Gini Ratio. The results of the study indicate that the economic growth rate does not have a significant impact on the Gini Ratio, while minimum wage, human development index, government expenditures, and investment have a significant influence on the Gini Ratio, with a negative impact on minimum wage and investment, and a positive impact on the human development index and government expenditures. However, the variable of the working population does not have a significant influence on the Gini Ratio.

Abstract

Prodamas is a breakthrough program of the Kediri City Government in accelerating regional development through direct community participation (empowerment). Prodamas seeks to realize the ability and independence of the community in infrastructure development, community economic improvement, and social community. This research uses descriptive research with a qualitative approach which is limited by the research focus, namely (1) Implementation of the Community Empowerment Program (Prodamas) in Ngronggo Village, City District, Kediri City seen from Merilee S. Grindle's theory which contains policy content and implementation context; (2) Supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of Prodamas. The data analysis method uses the Interactive model according to Miles, Huberman, and Saldana (2014) with four stages, namely data collection, data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implementation of the Community Empowerment Program (Prodamas) in Ngronggo Village, City District, Kediri City based on policy content and implementation context is in accordance with the theory of Grindle (2017), it's just that the desired degree of change has not been measured, then the resources used need development and adjustment. Supporting factors for the Prodamas program come from human resources, teaching, budget, facilities and infrastructure, and academics. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors come from bureaucratization which is still complicated, human resources, and the fact that the Prodamas program is still ineffective.
