Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze the impacts of the determinants of work force participation rate, human capital, government expenditure on education on the economic growth of G20 countries. The cross-sectional data of nineteen G20 countries during the analysis period of 2015-2021 was analyzed using panel data regression. This study finds that work force participation rate positively and significantly influences economic growth and that human capital also can enhance economic growth although insignificantly, However, government expenditure on education has positive and significant results on economic growth. These findings contribute to literatures that discuss factors affecting economic growth at the global level. They can also be used as considerations for promoting policies that reduce participation obstacles, such as discrimination, education disparity, and socioeconomic factors. The member countries of G20 can implement policies that support equal access for employment, relevant skill development, and inclusive policies for marginal and vulnerable groups.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the level of welfare of Indonesian gig workers in various fields. The method used is a quantitative method with primary data taken using a questionnaire from 250 respondents and then processed using multiple linear regression analysis methods. The research results show that job protection and income have a significant effect on the welfare of gig workers in Indonesia. Gig workers, most of whom do not work from the office, still need job protection and consider income an important factor that can influence their well-being. Meanwhile, social security is not a factor that can improve the welfare of gig workers in Indonesia because it is still hindered by several obstacles such as lack of socialization from the government and minimal literacy and concern for gig workers due to their busy lives and different work systems from wage earners.

Abstract

As a Province with the highest number of poor-population, East Java was also recognized as a top province in poverty alleviation in 2021 and 2022, Although there are still differences in the levels of poverty among various districts and cities. However, East Java was also ranked as the third province with the highest regional income and holds significant authority in optimizing its local resources, evident from the role of Regional Original Revenue (PAD) in total regional income. Examining regional income, there is no research involving Other Legitimate Revenue as one of the components in poverty alleviation. Therefore, this study aims to explore the role of regional income in poverty alleviation, specifically considering the optimization of fiscal decentralization authority and regional income. Additionally, the research investigates the role of relative poverty in addressing disparities in poverty levels. Utilizing a quantitative research approach with the One Least Square Data Cross Section method, the study indicates that Regional Original Revenue, Transfer Funds, and Overall Regional Income are determinants influencing poverty, while Other Legitimate Revenue does not play a significant role. The conditions of poverty disparity and its alleviation can be addressed through a focus on the quality of education and health as aspects of relative poverty.

Abstract

This paper investigate to the fiscal sustainability condition in Indonesia by analyzing the influence of government debt to GDP ratio on the primary balance ratio for the period of 1990 – 2022. Therefore, this study analyzed the data using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) method. The result show that the government debt during the period of 1990 – 2022 is in a safe position in the long run. In this case, the government is able to achieve a primary surplus condition, reducing the government’s financial risks. The primary surplus can reduce dependence on new debt. In other words, the government is able to control the growth of its debt proportionally to the country’s economy even amidst the Covid – 19 pandemic.

Abstract

So far, measuring poverty in Indonesia still refers to the Poverty Line (GK) approach carried out by the Badan Pusat Statisitk (BPS), which is the institution given the authority to calculate poverty rates. Meanwhile, the problem of poverty today is no longer uni-dimensional but multidimensional. This research was conducted with the aim of applying the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) in measuring the effectiveness of measuring the Poverty Line (GK) approach in Indonesia. Then, this research provides an outline of the advantages and disadvantages of poverty measurement in Indonesia and analyzes the effectiveness of poverty measurement by applying the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI). After that provides recommendations for policy makers regarding the most appropriate poverty measures.

Abstract

This research examines the issue of poverty in developing countries, particularly in Indonesia, with a focus on understanding the phenomenon of poverty and the influence of determinant variables on the level, depth, and severity of poverty. The study will use panel data regression to identify determinants of poverty. The results of the research indicate that the level of poverty, the poverty depth index, and the severity of poverty have different determinants. Gross Domestic Product (PDRB) and Human Development Index (IPM) have a negative effect on overall poverty, suggesting that efforts to reduce poverty would be effective by increasing PDRB and IPM. On the other hand, Total Population and Inflation have a positive impact on the poverty index. Therefore, policies focused on reducing unemployment and maintaining inflation rates would be essential in efforts to reduce poverty. In conclusion, the findings suggest that addressing specific determinants is crucial in developing targeted policies for poverty reduction.
