Abstract

Poverty is a global problem that is difficult to solve because of its very complex and multidimensional phenomena, not least in North Sumatra. That's why eradicating poverty is the first of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study aims to determine the influence of economic growth, education, unemployment and the Covid-19 pandemic on poverty in the district/city of North Sumatra in the period 2017-2022. The data type used is secondary data in the form of panel data covering 33 Districts/Cities of North Sumatra Province from 2017- 2022. The data analysis method used is panel data regression analysis with dummy variables assisted by e-Views10 software. The results of the study showed that economic growth and the Covid-19 pandemic had no significant effect, while education had a negative and significant effect, and unemployment had a positive and significant effect on the poverty level in the district/city of North Sumatra in 2017-2022. The poverty rate in North Sumatra has consistently decreased from year to year. The potential of education and open unemployment must be put to good use by the government in order to achieve low poverty levels in the 33 districts/cities of North Sumatra.

Abstract

Flypaper Effect is a situation where the expenditure of a region tends to be more responsive to transfer funds than its own regional income. The purpose of the study is to examine and analyze the flypaper effect, and to determine whether regional expenditure can act as a mediating variable between income and economic growth. By conducting a comparative study between cities and regencies in North Sumatra Province in 2011-2019, by applying path analysis. The results of the study show that in these cities and regencies there was a flypaper effect and regional expenditure was unable to mediate own regional income to economic growth. Therefore, to achieve fiscal autonomy and financial independence, it is necessary to minimize the flypaper effect and determine the allocation of regional expenditure effectively.

Abstract

The use of modern technology is growing rapidly, with innovation leading to the increasing replacement of cash transactions by electronic payments. This trend is reflected in the value of electronic money transactions which continues to increase, reaching IDR 786.35 trillion in 2021. Thus, the aim of this research is to assess how Indonesia's economic growth is influenced by the use of electronic payment systems. The study approach examines possible short-term and long-term relationships between electronic money, money supply, interest rates, inflation and economic growth using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). Using documentation techniques, data on GDP, money supply, electronic money transactions, interest rates and inflation were collected from Bank Indonesia and the Central Statistics Agency between 2014 and 2021. According to research, there is a short-term relationship between economic growth and the use of electronic money. However, as time goes by, economic growth is only influenced by the positive relationship between inflation and the money supply. These results are intended to provide insight for decision makers in Indonesia to continue to innovate in the development of electronic money to support sustainable economic growth.

Abstract

Significant developmental disparity between the Western Indonesian Region (KBI)  and the Eastern Indonesian Region (KTI), evident in dominance of provinces in Java and Sumatra, has emerged as a persistent concern. The KBI has consistently contributed over 80% to the total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) over the past three decades. This research aims to conduct a comprehensive examination of the factors contributing to regional disparities in the Eastern Indonesian Region. Employing panel data, the study utilizes regression to analyze the correlation between variables such as the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT), investment, Regional Gross Domestic Product (PDRB), education, and regional expenditures on regional disparities in the Eastern Indonesian Region. This research used secondary data sourced from Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) spanning from 2014 to 2019 period using documentation method. This study results on PDRB has a positive and significant impact, while education and regional expenditures have negative and significantly correlated with disparities among regions. However, the other two variables, namely investment and TPT are not show significant partial impacts.

The issue raised is that TikTok Shop was dismissed by the government, where TikTok Shop is one of the important innovations and technological advances for Indonesia. The main theory used in this research is consumption theory. This research is a quantitative research with primary data using a Guttman scale, and tested with non-parametric statistical methods of Chi-Square and Kendall's Tau-B. The findings of this study are that income has a very strong correlation, discount has a very strong  correlation, and influencers have a strong correlation to purchasing decisions.  These results answer 3 problem formulations, which show that TikTok Shop is very important to consumers in Malang.  This result also shows that the ban of TikTok Shop is a loss for Indonesia because it can increase economic exchange and economic growth.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to find out how the unemployment rate in each of West Java's districts and cities would change between 2018 and 2022 in relation to economic growth, investment, and minimum wages. Over a five-year period, a panel data collection comprising 27 districts and towns was utilized to accomplish this goal. Regression analysis with panel data was applied. The findings indicate that from 2018 to 2022, minimum wage, investment, and economic growth all had a considerable impact on the unemployment rate in all West Javan districts and cities. Economic growth holds a negative and significant effect on the unemployment rate, while investment has a negative and significant impact at 10% alpha on the unemployment rate. The minimum wage significantly and positively affects the unemployment rate. Investments made are mostly capital intensive and not yet equally distributed throughout West Java. Therefore, in order to lower unemployment, local governments are expected to increase labor-intensive investment.

Abstract

Economic disparity among regions is a pivotal concern for equitable development. In West Java, Indonesia's most populous province, this issue is accentuated as several city and regency areas persistently lag in growth rates when compared to the provincial average. This study is dedicated to uncovering the determinants that may expedite the socioeconomic advancement of the most impoverished areas within the province over a significant period, from 2012 to 2021. Utilizing panel data regression analysis, this research meticulously examines a series of potential factors that could influence regional economic performance. The quantitative data for this comprehensive analysis were sourced from two authoritative Indonesian bodies: the Central Agency on Statistics (Badan Pusat Statistik - BPS) and the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (Direktorat Jenderal Perimbangan Keuangan - DJPK). These datasets provide a robust foundation for assessing the fiscal, demographic, and economic variables that potentially contribute to the regional growth dynamics.
