Abstract

Poverty is a problem where no country or region can be free from the threat of poverty. Likewise with Indonesia, of the 34 provinces in which East Java Province is an area that has the largest number of poor people compared to other provinces. Based on the principles of regional autonomy and Keynesian theory, the government's efforts to reduce the number of poor people can be through allocating education expenditures and health expenditures. In this regard, there are several other factors that can affect the level of poverty, including per capita income, population growth and unemployment. Therefore, these five variables will be tested to determine their effect on the number of poor people in East Java. Using the multiple linear regression analysis method with panel data, data will be taken from 38 regencies/cities in East Java Province in 2010-2020. Where this study shows that education expenditures, health expenditures, per capita income, and population growth on the number of poor people have a significant influence. While unemployment has no significant effect on the number of poor people. Thus, the local government can make a series of policies that can overcome the problem of high poverty rates in East Java through these 4 significant variables.

Abstract

The number of Indonesian workers has increased every year and the lack of job opportunities has become a major obstacle to the development of the employment sector in Indonesia. Opportunities to get a job are decreasing, causing unemployment. Using the robust regression analysis method, this research tries to look at the factors that influence the length of time it takes to get a job in Indonesia. The data used comes from the 2019 National Labor Force Survey (SAKERNAS). The results show that the level of education, effort to find work, and the UMP level have a significant positive effect on the length of time to find a job in Indonesia. Meanwhile, age and job training have a significant negative effect on the length of time to get a job in Indonesia. Therefore, the government and related parties can consider these factors in making decisions, especially to overcome and deal with employment issues regarding unemployment regarding the length of time to get a job or the duration of unemployment.

Abstract

One type of potential tax is income tax. Indonesia has many MSMEs and contributes to 61.97% of national GDP. However, the contribution of MSMEs to the tax sector is not comparable to the tax revenue. The lack of awareness among MSME taxpayers is one of factors for the low level of tax compliance, which has a domino effect on the amount of tax revenue. The Government’s regulation as a response to the problem is through the implementation of PP 23/2018. The Government reduced tax rate from 1% to 0.5% would to make it easier for MSMEs and increase tax compliance. The domino effect will strengthen the role of MSMEs as a biggest source for the Indonesian economy, including increasing tax revenue. The research was conducted in Tangerang City to describe how far the effect of changes in PPh rates has on MSME taxpayer compliance and tax revenue in a city with the title of “Kota Seribu Industri”. The method used is quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of this study that the reduction in tariffs increases the number of taxpayers, which also has implications for increasing tax compliance. But on the contrary, the realization of tax revenue actually decreased.

Abstract

Economic inequality in East Java Province is always above the national inequality every year. This is driven by the concentration of economic growth (growth pole) in urban areas that have greater economic activity. East Java Province excels in the industrial sector, this can be seen in the GRDP where Industry has the first position investment then in the second position the Transportation, Warehousing, and Communication sector. This is interesting because the transportation sector should be means to facilitate the mobilization of all sectors in East Java. However, the outcome of the relationship between the transportation sector and economic inequality-accessibility between regions has not been widely studied. The existence of socio-economic, endownment, government policies differences in each region have impacts on differences in welfare levels between regions. This type of research is quantitative. This study aims to test and analyze what factors affect economic inequality in East Java Province. This study uses secondary data, this study has a sample of 11 districts and 3 cities located in East Java Province. This study uses the Common Effect Model (CEM) test as the selected research model. The results of this study are the independent variable X (economic growth, Road Length, Road Stability, Ports, Passenger, Electrification Ratio, Labor, and Human Development Index) affect the dependent variable Y (inequality) simultaneously by 74,8% of the R-squared value.

East Java Province is one of the areas with a high poverty rate (Giovanni, 2018). East Java BPS (2019) explains that East Java ranks first with the largest number of poor people in Indonesia, where in 2019 it touched 4.05 million people with the greatest poverty occupied by districts in the Horseshoe region. This high poverty rate places the problem of poverty as one of the priorities in every development. Therefore, it is necessary to measure the factors that influence poverty in the Horseshoe region. This research is a descriptive study using a quantitative approach. The data used is secondary data. Abstract

This study aims to determine what factors encourage land-owning farming communities to carry out land conversion and to determine the impact of land-use conversion by land-owning farmers in Turen Village, Turen District, Malang Regency. The method used is descriptive quantitative. The results of this study indicate that the conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural land that occurred in Turen Village, Malang Regency District, occurred due to 3 main factors, namely internal factors, external factors, and economic factors. These three factors are the main reasons for respondents to carry out land conversion. The conversion of the land function itself has an unfavorable impact on the level of welfare, especially at the income level of land-owning farmers in Turen Village. Because in total there were only 3 respondents or 20.0% of respondents who experienced an increase in income after carrying out land conversion.
