Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a chronic condition that requires routine and continuous hemodialysis therapy. Patient adherence to hemodialysis at RSUD Menggala is crucial to prevent complications and improve quality of life. Various factors are suspected to influence adherence, including environmental factors, educational instruments/media, and individual factors. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between environmental, instrument, and individual factors and adherence to hemodialysis therapy among CKD patients at RSUD Menggala in 2025. Methods: This analytical study employed a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 84 CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis at RSUD Menggala. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire. Analyses were conducted univariately, bivariately using Fisher’s Exact test, and multivariately using logistic regression. Results: Statistical analysis showed significant relationships between environmental factors (p=0.004), educational instruments (p=0.003), and individual factors (p=0.000) with patient adherence to hemodialysis. Multivariate analysis indicated that individual factors were the most dominant variable affecting adherence (p=0.001; OR=12.308). Conclusion: Individual factors play the most significant role in improving adherence to hemodialysis therapy among CKD patients at RSUD Menggala.

Abstract

Background: Cervical cancer remains one of the leading causes of mortality among women, particularly in developing countries, and can be detected early through Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) screening. However, low knowledge and participation rates among women of reproductive age (WRA) remain major challenges. This study aimed to determine the effect of education using the wish and drive method on knowledge and participation in cervical cancer early detection. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group approach. A total of 60 respondents were selected using purposive sampling and divided into intervention and control groups. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire to assess knowledge and a checklist to measure participation in VIA screening. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate tests, including the Wilcoxon signed-rank test and Mann–Whitney U test. Results: The intervention group showed a significant increase in knowledge, with the proportion of “good” knowledge rising from 26.7% to 86.7%, while the control group experienced a decrease from 36.7% to 23.3%. Participation in VIA screening in the intervention group increased from 43.3% to 70%, compared to a slight increase in the control group from 40% to 43.3%. Statistical analysis indicated significant differences in both knowledge (p=0.000) and participation (p=0.002) after the intervention. Conclusions: Education using the wish and drive method effectively improves knowledge and participation in cervical cancer early detection among WRA. This method is recommended for implementation in community-based health promotion programs to enhance screening uptake and preventive health behavior.

Abstract

Background: Hepatitis C (HCV) infection is the most commonly acquired infection for patients on hemodialysis and is associated with significant morbidity and disease progression. The efficacy and the safety of direct-acting antivirals (DAA) in patients with HCV in Yemen are still under investigation. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Sofosbuvir and Daclatasvir in the treatment of HCV infection among Yemeni patients who are on hemodialysis. Method: Prospective study of twenty-eight Yemeni patients confirmed with HCV infection who were undergoing hemodialysis during the period from the beginning of January 2023 to the end of December 2024. This study was conducted in the dialysis department at Al Gomhori Hospital in Taiz City, Yemen. Results: During the study period, a Total of 28 Yemeni patients were included: 14 (50%) males and 14 (50%) females, aged 18 to 70 years, with a mean age of 44 ± 12 years. The viral load at the beginning of the study was low in most patients (21, 75%), moderate in 1 (4%), and high in 6 (21%). Early virological response ( EVR) was achieved in 25 (89.03%) patients. One patient(3,6%) had detectable target post treatment, one patient (3,6%) died during the study period, and one patient (3,6%) experienced a side effect that led to discontinuation of the drugs. After 12 weeks of stopping the drugs, sustained virological response (SVR) was achieved in 25 (100%) patients. Conclusion: The combination of Sofosbuvir and daclatasvir was effective and safe in treating HCV infection among Yemeni patients undergoing hemodialysis

Abstract

AbstractThe introduction of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is a public health issue with the risk of chronic complications. Preventing DM complications requires family involvement, especially mothers as the managers of family health. The Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) approach is relevant for strengthening family empowerment based on Pandhalungan culture. The research objective is to analyze the impact of implementing family empowerment for Pandhalungan mothers based on the Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) on the behavior of preventing type 2 DM complications. The research method is a quantitative cross-sectional design with 165 respondents. Data analysis used the Spearman Rank test and logistic regression. The results show a significant relationship between the implementation of NFP and the behavior of preventing type 2 DM complications (r=0.612; p<0.001). The implementation of NFP is a dominant factor (OR=4.21; p<0.001). Conclusion and recommendation: NFP-based family empowerment is effective in improving the behavior of preventing type 2 DM complications in the Pandhalungan community. Keywords: type 2 diabetes mellitus; community nursing; family empowerment; nurse–family partnership.
