Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of digital services, level of competition, and income diversification on the profitability of banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2017-2023. In relation to banking profitability, this study touches on changes in the banking business along with technology penetration through the digitalization lifestyle and the COVID-19 phenomenon, the intensity of competition when the presence of digital finance and the rise of mergerization, and the response of banks with business diversification efforts. The results of the study show that digital services through mobile banking & internet banking and income diversification through non-interest income do not significantly affect Return on Assets (ROA), while the Level of Competition using the Lerner Index measurement has a positive and significant effect. This research can be a reference for banks to review factors that can affect business performance and make developments to improve service quality and business performance. This research is also intended for the public as information and education on banking products, services, and business conditions. This research has the potential to be developed and re-examined by considering other factors that can affect profitability.

Abstract

Currently, there is a Covid-19 pandemic that is spreading throughout the world, including Indonesia. Then the government carried out a Covid-19 Vaccination policy to overcome this problem. Along with the implementation of the Covid-19 Vaccination policy, there was information tapering off information policy. What has an impact on the financial system and the real sector is the depreciation of the exchange rate and the high value of inflation. This resulted in capital outflows which had an impact on the ICI movement. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of covid-19 vaccination, exchange rates, and inflation on ICI in 2021-2022. Research model used VECM (Vector Error Corection Model) with the help of research tools E-Views. The results obtained from this study show that the Covid-19 Vaccination Policy has an influence on the ICI and based on the IRF analysis of trends due to shock in the peiode has a positive influence. Information on tapering off policy through exchange rate and inflation variables has an influence on the ICI and based on IRF analysis the trend due to shock in that period has a negative influence.

Abstract

Financial innovation was created to make it easier for banks to carry out their intermediation functions. There are many forms of financial innovation that exist today, but in this research the author focuses more on his analysis of strengthening the banking intermediation function through the Branchless Banking system with a sample of BUKU 4 banks (Business Group 4 Commercial Banks). In this research the author used primary data obtained through the results of distributing questionnaires online. From this research it can be concluded that the existence of Branchless Banking really helps banking institutions in carrying out their function as public financial distribution institutions and the existence of this system still does not shift the main role of banking institutions in carrying out their function as financial mediators in society.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Indonesian monetary variables and other countries' stock indices on the Composite Stock Price Index (JCI). The data used is monthly time series data from January 2020 to December 2023. The method used in this study is the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) method which is determined from the results of the stationarity test, lag determination, cointegration test. The independent variables used include monetary variables (inflation and exchange rates) and stock indices of other countries (nikkei 225 and Dow Jones Industrial Average /DJIA). The dependent variable used is the JCI. The results showed that all monetary variables (inflation and exchange rates) had no influence in the short term, while in the long term both monetary variables had a negative effect on the JCI. Meanwhile, other countries' stock index variables, namely the DJIA, negatively affect the JCI both in the short and long term. Nikkei 225 has a positive short term effect on JCI, while in the long term nikkei 225 has no effect on JCI.

Abstract

Although Islamic Banking has shown its performance as a solution-oriented bank, the Islamic banking sector still has difficulties in maintaining the stability of its profitability. In fact, to carry out its operations, banks must have high profits and when the Islamic banking sector is strong, it is very important for financial inclusion and stability of the domestic banking system. Having profitability above the minimum limit set by Bank Indonesia is the key to achieving positive banking performance. This study aims to investigate the determinants of profitability in the Islamic banking industry in Indonesia, using panel data from Sharia Commercial Banks in the period 2018 to 2022. The authors used panel data regression analysis to test the influence of CAR, NPF, FDR, and BOPO on Profitability represented by Return on Assets (ROA). Interestingly, of the four hypotheses formed, only the BOPO variable has a significant effect on profitability (ROA). This result is useful to help banking stakeholders in knowing the factors to maximize their profitability, then it is also used for government stakeholders such as the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK) and Bank Indonesia (BI) in evaluating the financial performance of Islamic banking.

Abstract

Indonesia has many tourist destinations visited by local and foreign residents. So, Indonesia has great prospects for the tourism sector. However, Covid-19 caused tourism performance to decline as a result of government policy (PPKM). Covid-19 as an investment risk can undermine investor confidence in tourism sector stocks so that stock returns will be affected. This research aims to compare the influence of price and trading volume on tourism company stock returns before and during Covid-19 in Indonesia. This research uses the Vector Auto Regression method. The data used is a time series with a monthly time period from 2017 to 2022. This research found that the similarity of results in the period before and during Covid-19 shows that share prices are an important factor for low, medium and high return companies so that companies need to maintain market prices to be balanced. Low return companies are more sensitive to market shocks so they must be careful about risks. Trading volume is important for high return companies so it needs to be increased so that transactions also increase.

Abstract

The adoption of debit card and E-Money is increasingly important to study due to its potential to influence payment patterns and overall consumer behavior. This research aims to analyze the effect of debit cards and e-money on consumer shopping behavior. The subjects of this study are students from the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Brawijaya, cohorts 2020, 2021, and 2022, who have been using debit card and E-Money for more than one year and receive an allowance of more than IDR 1,000,000. The sampling method used is purposive sampling, with a total of 104 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using inferential quantitative methods with the Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) approach. The results indicate that debit cards and e-money significantly enhance consumer shopping behavior. These findings have important implications for governments, companies, and individuals in adopting digital payment technologies as part of a more effective financial management strategy.
